So good so far... three years

I have several of the Midea 50 pint dehumidifiers with pump and find them to be reliable at present... the pump is critical for two applications where there is no accessible floor drain but a laundry tub into which the water can be pumped.

Quit working less than a year and no customer serv

I would definitely not recommend this dehumidifier from Midea. The one I purchased quit working in less than a year. It would freeze up within a few minutes. The filter was absolutely clean and it had plenty of air space around it. The room temperature was 70 degrees so that was not the problem either. It is suppose to have a 1 year warranty. I contacted their customer support and provided all the details they requested. I also sent pictures. Now I am getting no response from Midea after requesting a status 3 additional times. So they do not honor their warranty. Also the warranty card you fill out when you first buy the product goes to an address that the postal service says is undeliverable.

Verified Purchase

Three years is the max durability.

As with all other dehumidifiers we have owned, three years and they are toast. I continue to replace them hoping to get a good one. I'm up to 8 now (only 3 of these 8 are this same brand but if you look at who actually makes them many are made by the same mfgr.) and fingers are crossed. Just bought 2 of these to replace the one that failed. One for a spare just in case.

Avoid this model/ manufacture

Mine only lasted 3.5 years and it appears to run but I believe it has lost freon because it does not cool the coils to attract any moisture any more even though the room has high humidity. I had no help from Midea when I contacted them. I would suggest avoiding this unit unless you like buying another unit sooner than you want.

Don't waste your money

We have had this unit for less than two years. It never was very efficient, but it runs but does not pull moisture from the air. Based on my experience and other reviews I am surprised Sam's still carries this product. I need to replace the current unit but will not buy one from Sam's nor can I recommend this one.

Stay Away.

Initially it was great. I have two in different areas. Kept the humidity low. Then after about 2 years, both of them started to freeze up (not frosting over, but huge blocks of ice would form). Now I have it set to a higher humidity level, so it doesn't freeze up, but just this past weekend one of them stopped working. It is 'on' and appears to be working, but there is no water in the drainage hose nor in the tank. I noticed because the humidity was 72% and knew something was wrong. Stay away from this brand.

Works well for a few months...

Bought 2 of these. Both are freezing up. One is less than a year old, the other about 15 months. Cannot find parts for it either, as it is not a supported brand. And their site - lol, no diagrams, no part numbers. Heck, if you go to the Midea site, it does not even list dehumidifiers as an option.

Sudden Failure

I’m really disappointed with the MAD50PS1WS‑E dehumidifier. It worked fine at first, and then suddenly started freezing up on the back and completely stopped collecting water. No gradual decline — it just failed out of nowhere. I contacted Midea directly and went through every troubleshooting step they suggested. None of it made any difference. The unit still froze up and never resumed normal operation. After this, I checked more reviews and realized this isn’t an isolated issue. Many people are reporting the same freezing problem and early failure, which makes it feel like a design flaw rather than user error. For the price, a dehumidifier should be reliable and long‑lasting. Instead, this one turned into a non‑functional block of ice. Based on my experience and the pattern in other reviews, here, this model seems to be built with inferior components. I can’t recommend it.

Horrible Customer Service

Midea makes dehumidifiers for several other brands. They are not bad, but when you run into issues, you will find Midea customer support both unhelpful and hard to understand on the phone. If you buy the same product from other brands, you will have much better luck with customer serrvice. I hade a Midea come apart on me and cause a lot of damage. I have had a lot of pump issues, so that also is a consideration.

Worked well while It lasted, but didn't last long

I bought 2 of these around 2 years ago and now don’t work. They just run all day long and not a drop of water is collected. When they did work they did a great job. So if you buy one of these from sams make sure you purchase the 3 year extended warranty. A lot of money for them to stop working after 2 years.
