We felt the potting soil was more like mulch. Large chunks of wood. We tried it because Sam's did not have our usual potting soil for sale and because the price was very attractive. After working with this product for some deck containers, we will only use this for outdoor flower beds, where it can serve as a soil/mulch combo.

After putting this potting mix with my new flowers, I kept noticing that a lot of it was on the outside of the pot the next day. I cleaned it up, but then it happened again. What was happening is that squirrels were getting in the potting soil and pulling out the little wood chips that are mixed in. I had to go and use my miracle grow potting soil and I have not had any problems. I'm returning mine.

I would give this a zero star if I could. I have seen mulch with smaller pieces of sticks. It is not worth the price. By the time I pick out the large chunks of wood there is not a lot of dirt. bring back Miracle Grow! Next time I will go to Lowes and get Miracle Grow

Of all the Sam's Members Marks products I've used this is by far the worst product I've ever bought. It doesn't retain water and my plants seem to be struggling. It certainly isn't the Miracle Grow product that Sam's used to carry. And the hardest thing is you can't even return when it's out of the bag and in a pot. I went to Home Depot to get Miracle Grow. Don't waste your money.

Too many uncomposted pieces of wood chips. After water my containers it looked like mulch on the surface. Not suitable for indoor pots. Quality varies widely in the 7 bags I bought with some having more fresh wood than others. Fertilizer content not comparable to the Miracle Grow mix Sam's used to carry. I will probably not buy this again next year. I tried to upload a photo but app wouldn't work right. My plants are not doing nearly as well in this mix as they did in Miracle Grow. Please go back to that - it is worth the extra cost.

extremely moldy and so many chucks of wood. I've never been so disappointed in a Members Mark product. I went ahead and used all three bags to plant my potatoes but am now wondering if the wood chips are from pallets that shouldn't be used in gardens. I kept hoping the next bag would be better and I'd get a good bag like some other reviewers got. If I see anyone getting ready to purchase a bag of this I would definitely let them know so they could purchase something much better. The only other product they had near was garden soil mix and i thought might be too heavy if a mix for the bags I was using for planting. I think maybe I was wrong. YUCK!!!!

As someone who spends hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on annuals and potting soil, finding this product was a blessing! Miracle grow is demanding as much as 27.00 for the same size bag. If you want to support a giant corporation and pay for their Ritz Carlton convention rooms- be my guest. The fact that so many are mortified there is a few pieces of wood in the bag is laughable. Good quality potting soil contains natural components.

We bought this because Sam's didn't carry the Miracle grow -Moisture control soil this year. It is NOT comparable. We always buy the miracle grow to start our seedling in before the last frost. I was so disappointed by the quality of this product. First it has large wood chips, sticks, slivers in it. These are abundant through the whole bag. Secondly, there were sections of the dirt that had mold growing in it and it was unopened and just purchased. This had NOT been sitting outside and was not exposed to moisture yet. Lastly, the soil was very dry for an unopened bag. This is going right into the garden and I am going to shop at another store and get the Miracle Grow brand we typically use.

Buyer beware! I hardly ever write reviews but this one warrants one. This potting soil, if you can call it that, is horrible. It is dry and filled with so much wood product that it is hard to work with. I went ahead and planted my flowers in it anyway and they aren't doing very well. I'm going back to Miracle Grow.

Nothing like Miracle grows moisture control. This products contains shredded wood that is the equivalent of mulch mixed into dirt. Disappointed. Doesn't hold moisture like the good stuff. Guess I'll be buying miracle grow somewhere else since Sam's replaced it with this product. I buy 10 bags every spring for my pots.
