So far, so good-Outdoors gardens

Multiple gardens with variety of flowers & mint (trying to keep pests away). It has vermiculite (little white styro looking specks) that aerate the soil. When dry, it’s light and fluffy, when wet, seems to hold the water around plant. So far, so good.

Members Mark potting soil

Every bit as good as the name brand but costs a lot less. I was impressed at the quality of this product

Easy to use

The potting mix is easy to use. I opened the bag and dumped a bunch in my pot for planting lettuce. The potting mix was light, yet had good substance to it. It did not crumble from being chunky as other potting mixes I have gotten. I sprinkled some dry organic matter on top of each planter to help retain moisture. My daughter enjoyed planting seeds in the potting mix. I only have a couple pots left to plant before emptying the bag. I am looking forward to growing herbs and lettuce in my sun porch even though there is snow on the ground outside.

Quality potting soil

This is a quality looking potting soil. It is not too heavy which could make pots too much to carry. It spreads well and doesn’t pack too dense. Time will tell if it promotes good growth since I just planted with it but from all appearances it should perform fine.

Lifesaver

I didn't get to use this on my house plants. As our snow was melting the water was leaking into our basement and my husband used the whole bag along the foundation. It worked, it absorbed some of the water and prevented further damage.

Improved blend

I had bought the same item last year and I can say it’s much improved Lay year much more bark was in the mix causing plants to dry out faster. This blend is much finer and will help the soil stay moist and fertile.

Dried out due to holes in bag from shipping

Well I'm sure had I got this from the store it may have been a better review, but it was shipped to me, and as you will see in the pictures it had holes all through the bag and made a mess when I opened it. Furthermore having the holes in it dried out a lot of the soil so as for moist soil I can't answer that due to mine being dried out. Judging by what was all over my floor it seems to be of good quality. Again I say DO NOT have this shipped to you, if you need potting soil go to the store so you can look at the bags yourself.

Too much non-composted sticks and chunks.

If you were going camping, you should buy a bag of this potting soil. You'll find sticks for kindling in the bag than you would at your camp site. This is terrible potting soil. Seriously way too many sticks and uncomposted material. It was also the driest potting soil I've ever purchased. I wish I just spent a few dollars more and got the name brand from the garden center.

Hi Bernie- We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience. This mix is a premium blend of peat, composted softwood bark, composted forest products, perlite, fertilizer, and a wetting agent. The mix should contain smaller bark pieces to aid aeration and plant stability. If you’re seeing anything different, please call us at 1-800-285-7333, and our team will be happy to help resolve the issue.

Worst potting soil ever

On sale so thought I’d give it a try. Terrible soil, dry and mixed with many pieces of wood. Ended up dumping it out in the back of the yard. Checked the bags and they were dated Sept. 2025. Be wary of this product.

OK, I Guess, If You're Using For Mulch

This was the worst potting soil I have ever used. There were so many wood chips in it I had to double-check the bag to make sure I didn't buy mulch! I had to screen it to use for starting seeds or it would have been pretty much useless. I don't even think it was good enough for the root system of established plants. The wood remaining in screen was after sifting just a very small portion of bag. I would never buy again.
