[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my Bissell vacuum, and was excited to finally have the money to buy this hydrosteam system to help clean up some carpet stains but mostly clean my couch. I don't have removable couch covers, so a portable cleaner is the only way I can clean my couch without calling in a professional. What an absolute disappointment. Their book tells you not to use their cleaning solution and to only use steam for upholstery - fine. When I start to use it, the steam barely penetrates the fabric, so it's not really doing much other than breathing hot air onto dirty fabric. I switch modes to "wash and steam" but all that does it shoot water out with a little steam to make the fabric wet, and leaving it wet. My favorite part of this process is that not only am I missing a cleaning nozzle that was supposed to be in the box, but the cleaning nozzle attachment I am using/did receive keeps coming unclipped from the hose if I try to put pressure on it to attempt to suck up the water that is being sprayed onto the upholstery surface. Not sure if I just got a faulty product, but for me to clean my couch and ottoman would take at least two hours, plus drying time. I was so excited for this product, especially because Bissell vacuums have become my favorite offer Dyson with two dogs that shed quite a bit. I'm more than just disappointed and frustrated with this product - I wish I had never wasted my time or money to purchase and try it.

Therefore, dog paws and kids' feet are constantly tracking black oily tar fragments into the rugs and on the couch. It's nearly impossible to clean -- but WOW -- I am SO impressed with how this steam cleaner lifted those nasty particles up and away. I received this cleaner as part of a Stellar Panel Review testing group. Thrilled at the results. Truly, I've been frustrated trying to find a solution to the tar messes. Every other cleaning method I have tried has left a dull oil-like stain. This little hydro cleaner is really impressive, the way it uses heat to remove the baked in tarballs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have 4 cats and a baby, a mid pile carpet on the upstairs, and lots of low pile ruggable rugs. I bought this hoping the added steam would really do well with the pet messes (1 cat pees outside of her litter box, 4 cats with hairballs or throw up.) The unit is fairly quiet, the suction is fine, not amazing but not bad, definitely leaves carpet damp compared to the upright that we have (Bissell green machine), but I spent the extra hoping the steam would also sanitize. Let's just say I can place my hand within an inch of the steam nozzle and it's luke warm at best. Yes it sounds and looks like steam, but it's more a fine mist of Luke warm water. Considering the hydro steam is the top of the line model from Bissell, it's a pretty big disappointment. I tried 3 other consumer portable units, non of them lived up to their steam promises so I'm going to say it's an effective marketing gimmick. Other than that all of the units I tried have similar performance on spot cleaning from normal carpet to the ruggable rugs. So save yourself the money and get any of the others and just preheat the sink before filling the tank. The rest of the unit workers well. I like how easy it is to use and clean. The hose unfortunately will hold residual liquid after cleaning. It folds up nicely and is really compact so I like that. The handle quality is junk, the unit feels well built though. I'll keep it, I'll use it, but no, I do not recommend it. It also makes this fairly annoying chirp squeak every 20 seconds of use that started after the second time using it.

With two kids under four and a dog in the house, messes abound and they always seem to occur on our couch, upholstered dining chairs, and area rugs. I was very happy with how this machine tackled various stains. Upon receiving I had two stains I knew I wanted to try and remove right away. The first, an especially stained upholstered dining room chair. The second, a mystery dried yogurt that was on a couch cushion. To start, setup couldn't be easier! The machine comes with a starter bottle of the cleaning solution and the tank has clear marked lines for where to fill with water and solution. The included manual and quick start instruction are clear and got me started quickly. I decided to go the hard route first and tackle my very stained upholstered chairs. For background, we have owned these for 8 years, they are not stain guarded (regrets that cheap decision lol) and have never been professionally cleaned. I am so happy with the result! I opted to use the steam + clean solution and it was amazing how much dirt came off the seat. Are they perfect? No. However they dramatically better and I think going forward, they are going to look cleaner and be maintained if any future stains occur. Next up was my couch cushions. Again, I chose the steam + clean function and was so happy with the results. The mystery yogurt stains completely came up and I don't have to flip the cushion anymore! All in all - this machine is powerful, not as loud as I expected (still loud but also, yay suction power!) and lightweight. I also appreciate the intuitive knob design that lets you change the setting choice and clear light indicator for when the steam function is ready. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It isn't so much as a stream machine as it is a humidifier. Steam is actually hotter than boiling water, hence the reason it actually chemically separates and goes from a liquid to a gas form. In any case, it's supposed to be hot. Whatever this thing is doing the "steam" is cold and whatever cleaning properties bissell markets it having, it cannot possess. It otherwise functions like their other spot cleaners where you honestly have to massively pretreat old stains and vacuum them several times. Their steam setting is just a gimmick.

I have two rowdy kids and a dog who always are guaranteed to leave a mess or stain. This thing is a beast! It’s the magic eraser of portable carpet cleaners. The 3 options makes it very versatile. However, my go to is the steam/solution setting. Knockout just about any stain I’m trying to get rid of. I use it on my carpet, beds, couches, chairs, just about everything that is upholstered. All I can say is whoever the engineer is that came up with this design. Give that person a raise, because this made my life way easier.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am really impressed with how lightweight and portable the Little Green Hydrosteam (pet) carpet cleaner is to move around the house for spot cleaning. Some of the stains and spots that I used the Bissell cleaning solution and carpet cleaner on had been there for years. Just by spraying the cleaning solution on the stains, letting it sit for 5 minutes, and then scrubbing with the Bissell nozzle brush, the stains came up! The suction of the carpet cleaner was enough to pull up the solution, and the stain, allowing the carpet to dry fast. Setting up the carpet cleaner was easy, the short "quick start" instructions were helpful and got us moving right away. Cleaning the unit is very intuitive, nozzles and hoses detach with light colored buttons, right where you expect them to. The clean water tank and the dirty water tank are easily identifiable and simple to detach and reattach. This is a great addition to our household and will get tons of use over time. I received this portable carpet cleaner from the Stellar Product Testing Panel a day before one of our large labs was accidentally locked in my daughter's room for several hours. The 100 pound dog left a large pile of waste on the light teal and white rug, and its pungent smell had plenty of time to seep into every thread. In the past I would have had to go rent a carpet cleaner from the local market, but thankfully I now own a convenient miniaturized version. The machine includes a thorough stain guide that details the best of its 3 settings to dissolve your particular stain. For dog waste, I set it to "Wash Only" mode, added appropriate levels of included Pet Solution and water in the clean tank, and proceeded to easily scrub then vacuum the brown mess out of the rug. It was almost too easy a process, so much so that I didn't believe it was working, until I glanced at the dirty tank and found it full of the dog's foul waste water. After a quick process I was surprised to find no trace of color or smell in the cleaned rug, and it dried very fast. I'm so thankful to now have such a powerful little tool to combat the constant mess of a household run by 4 small kids and 3 large dogs.

I have even tried it on older stains and the steam cleaner was able to pull most of the stains up. I was shocked! The steam feature was easy and wonderful to use on my couches. It quickly dried and pulled a lot of debris out of the upholstery. Set up, filling, and cleaning the machine was super easy! I enjoyed being able to quickly dump the dirty water and keep cleaning without taking too much time out of my day. The suction on the little machine is impeccable! The instructions included in the packaging make it very easy to set up your cleaner to get to your cleaning projects. I liked how the machine had icons that were easily understood on the top dial. My favorite features on this machine are the ability to switch nozzles for the spaces I am cleaning, the steam feature, and the quick changing and filling containers. While I don't have any pets, I have hard wood floors with lots of different types of rugs that I wanted to be able to clean as well as it be versatile enough for other upholstery as needed. The machine was super easy to set up and directions were very clear so I could use it right away. Was able to get the purple stain out of my carpet easily and because of its size, can easily store and pull out as needed.
