This is one amazing machine.

I never thought I would even get excited about a washer, but this thing is amazing. It has taken the task of washing clothes to an art, but it does it all on its own. It is energy and water conservative as well, and that hits the pocket book. I am very pleased with my LG washer, and even excited!

LG Frontend Washing Machine - BEST INVESTMENT

My LG Washing Machine - although I was skeptical at first - was the BEST investment of my life. Low water usage - Low Power Consumption - I thought the OLD Auger driven machines (May Tag washer) was better - but after using for nearly 2 months - it's MUCH better. Clothes are CLEANER than the AUGER machine / not damaged too - it takes longer with the time to clean with new technology and approach - but I would NEVER part with this LG product washing machine.

Hi, David! loving the passion in your review. It’s clear your LG washer has completely won you over, especially with the cleaner clothes, gentler wash, and the efficiency boost you didn’t expect coming from an older agitator model. That’s exactly the kind of upgrade we love hearing about. If you ever need anything in the future, feel free to reach out to @LGUSSupport. ^James

4 Year Ownership Experience

Like most LG appliances I have owned, at first I love them. Unfortunately, as they age, they reveal their subpar quality. I purchased this washer in 2022 from BestBuy. It is an attractive design and easy to use. However, you buy a washer for cleaning performance, and this is where this machine falls short. The normal cycle tries way too hard to be water efficient. Nothing on this cycle ever gets very clean due to lack of water. Sure you can increase the soil, but it just adds time. I have found using heavy duty or permanent press help mitigate the problem somewhat as they use more water. Next is the spin cycle, and this is where this machine is just a hunk of junk. Sorry LG, but you need to quit relying on sensors to determine if the load can spin and build a machine that can actually spin. If you are going to make a large capacity washer, make sure it can spin the said large capacity. I never mix loads improperly and do not overfill it with clothes. However, any load that is more than 50% of the capacity just stalls out in the spin cycle. Either it takes it 20 minutes to finally spin,or I get a UE code. I have had the unit checked, and it is working to standard. It is just a poor standard. Thus, if you are looking at this machine due to it's capacity, forget it. It will never spin that large capacity well. I have since talked two family members into a Speed Queen top loader as it just cleans and spins so much better. That will be my go to brand next time. In summary, if you are not doing lots of laundry or only do small loads, this unit will probably meet your needs. If you are buying to handle your whole family's constant loads of clothes, look elsewhere. The spin cycle is abysmal, and the cleaning is just not mediocre.

We recognize your experience with the wash cycle performance, water levels, and the spin cycle balance on larger loads. Washer Breakdown after 1year & 4months

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] THe hot water inlet valve inside the washer stopped working and remained in the open position even when the washer was turned off and unplugged. The part # is LG 5220FR2006Z to replace it. It must happen often since there is a Youtube LG video to help with the job. I have attached the link. LG should increase the 1 warranty period.

don't bother buying those washer the dryer from LG at Sam's club. The shipping partner is terrible. they kept rescheduled because they will only ship it when they have others coming to the same area but they don't have enough coordination to tell you which dates are actually available when they do confirm a date with you they will reschedule it to the one day that you said you couldn't make it happen. Very unprofessional!

Leakage

At first, we absolutely love the machine and then it began to leak from the bottom. Had someone come out to service it and suggested that we do a tub clean which we do weekly it did not fix the problem nor can we get somebody to come out to fix the problem.

Poor washing performance, not DIY maintainable

High maintenance laundry days and poor cleaning overall. When the machine was brand new the only issue was figuring out which cycles could get enough water in the machine to actually clean. We are fastidious about care for the machine - gasket wiped down every single time, door left wide open, running tub clean on a regular routine, cleaning the filter, using HE detergent carefully measured and borax in with the clothes. I am constantly rewashing things and have gone back to handwashing because the delicate cycle is simply trash - leaves clothes smelling worse and is hard on delicates anyway. What in earth is happening in there?! Not even three years into owning it that sour smell in laundry is persistent - it recedes a little after a tub clean but comes back quickly. And it makes anything with a nap (flannel, corduroy) flat and pilled (plus smelling bad). I guess we will pay for a technician to pull this thing apart and clean it. Making this not at all a good bargain. Will eventually replace with a SQ or find a rebuilt older top loader from a higher quality brand.

Hi. We appreciate you sharing your rating and feedback regarding your LG Front Load Washing Machine, model WM4000HWA. We recognize your experience with the overall cleaning results, water levels, and the persistent odors in your laundry. Since high-efficiency front loaders naturally use less water to optimize chemical action and tumble action, we recommend utilizing the "Water Plus" option to increase the volume inside the drum for cycles where you prefer extra water. If fabric odor persists despite regular tub cleaning, we also suggest checking the drain pump filter at the bottom front of the unit for trapped debris and switching to the "Heavy Duty" or "Sanitary" cycle with warm or hot water to help break down any remaining residue or soap buildup in the fibers. Washing machine leaks and LG can't fix the leak

Our washing machine has been leaking out the door since December 2025 (the machine was bought new in September 2025). We have had techs out 3 times since the leaking started and the problem is still not fixed. Scheduling a service tech is a nightmare and takes WAY more time than it should because LG keeps asking for the same information I have already given them numerous times. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Not a good idea

Lasted a year and a half before it started leaking. Fortunately I purchased a warranty and the warranty representative walked me through getting a replacement. This is after 12 service appointments. Such a waste of my time. The Sam’s Club rep was truly great. If he didn’t answer the phone and manage my account I would’ve been out of luck.
