Outstanding !

I researched this product type for a while and hands down I made the right choice. The water tank lasted a long time and the mop covers are very durable. Don't let them dry out...put in washer when you're done and DON'T dry in dryer. Absolutely works great on my hardwood and tile floors. Great product! Thanks Bissell.

I might buy it again?

We've owned ours for probably 2.5 years? Love the function, easy to clean steam pads, fragrance disk is a cool add-on. It's gets nice and hot, makes it easy to get up dirt and non-such from the kitchen floor, also like to be able to sanitize the bathroom. One HUGE flaw. The plastic cap on the water reservoir. I am on my 6th replacement cap. If the steam mop ever falls over and water reservoir hits a counter, the floor, the edge of some, the cap either cracks or breaks off. So frustrating, because the product is pretty awesome otherwise. So I order replacement caps 3 at a time. It would seem like such an easy fix to use a different, more forgiving plastic or metal. So, it is what it is. Love the product, hate the bad design element.

Best Christmas gift

If you're thinking about getting a steam mop, think no more - get the Bissell steam mop 1940. I LOVE IT!! This is amazing. I have ceramic tile floors and Brazilian cherry wood floors in my home and this mop works fabulous. I used it on high for the ceramic tile floors and low on the hardwood. I do not own a regular mop and never have so I would wash all my floors on my hands and knees and what a pain. So all I have to do now is vacuum them and use the steam mop and the floors look fantastic. I highly recommend this!!!

This is the 2nd one and I would buy it again

I do really love this machine....as I mentioned I had the previous version of this mop and had it for more than 7 years....the only reason I had to get a new one is mine fell over and that cracked the tank...but this new one stands and balances on its own so that is a great new improvement....but the old version had a trigger to let the water and steam go...the new one just goes...I prefer the trigger but that is really minor...I still love this for cleaning the floors....I have hardwood, Tile and vinyl and I go right through from one room to the other with no problems. I like the new disc that goes in for perfume smell but you do not need it...and it lasts a long time...so that is good....this one also has a scrub part on the back which is nice for stubborn stains or marks on the floors....I wish it came with more than one of the furry mop heads...I dont really like the other new kind of mop head it has....did not think it did such a good job and I go through at least 2 mops when I do the whole downstairs at once...I really could use 3....also used to get 2 at a time in the refills and not only get one....so I would advise getting some extra mops when you order it but I do really love the mop and it does a great job.

Greatest cleaning tool we have!

I purchased this steam mop for our adult day center, where cleanliness is essential. We have tile floors, and we have tried all kinds of systems in the past three years, and none were satisfactory. In desperation, I finally decided to try this mop. It is wonderful! So easy to use every day, and does a great job. We also purchased the Zing vacuum to use for little pick-ups after mealtime and for daily cleaning, instead of stirring up dust with a broom. For us, this is a winning combination. We use the vacuum, followed by the steam mop every day, and could not be more pleased with the job they do. We highly recommend both the steam mop and the Zing vacuum.

A great new product!

This is my first mop steam cleaner. Good features such as; smart set steam control panel, easy refill water tank with no spill feature, swivel maneuverability, easy pad remover, cord wrap, and assembling. Even though there is no power switch to cut off power supply to the unit the heating element does shut off if you touch the steam control panel back to steam level, the steamer will cool down until ready to use it again. To be on the safe side unplug the cord when not in use. The only feature that doesn't seem to be effective is the removable easy scrubber. It may do the job if the grouts are sealed. If not it's almost impossible to clean like new. To Bissell Consumer Care, please follow up on this. It would be nice to know how hot the water reaches its operating temperature. I know boiling point is 212 degrees but it is unlikely for a consumer product to be that hot. My guess would be 140 degrees. On the product box and manual instructions it doesn't state how hot the steamer gets. Its rarely published by the manufactures the operating temperature level. For the record I would like to know what is the maximum temperature of this unit when it gets hot. Some units operated at lower or higher temperatures then this unit. Over all, model 1940 is a great mop steam cleaner for household consumer use. As for longevity of this product that will be evaluated over time. I hope it will give me many years of good use. Two year limited warranty is pretty good. Most only offer one year. Good job Bissell!

What a great value!

My house has 2535 sq/ft of porcelain tile and finally I found an appliance that cleans my floors thoroughly with little effort. I use the highest steam setting and change out the mop head pads several times during a full house clean. I use the mop almost weekly on the kitchen floor, which takes about 15 minutes and leaves my kitchen floor sparkling clean, free of spill and food marks. I only use distilled water in the tank during use. When not in use, I remove the water tank and the rubber one way valve and store them separately in a dry place. I am so pleased with my steam mop and happy I researched because I made the right decision!

Easily navigates through every room.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This particular mop has some great features like the long cord, level of steam options, and the swivel head. It is pretty lightweight but does a good job of lifting dust, watersheds, and light foot traffic. The scrubber helps lift heavier, sticky messes if you repeatedly go over the mess or raise the steam leave. This model won't tolerate you pushing hard down on the handle so you need to be patient and just keep going over tough spots for it to do it's job, and it will. You'll need to remove the hot scrub pad immediately when you're done or place the entire unit on a counter while it cools to avoid damage on a wood floor. I left mine on a laminate wood floor while cooling down and it left white, cloudy stains underneath the pad on my floor that I cannot remove. Hard lesson learned. I find the mop head too large for smaller bathrooms.

Fairly effective

This beats the old mop n bucket any day, We have laminate floors and the hot steam cleans them nicely. There is the flip down scrubber behind the mop for stubborn and sticky grime, but it doesn't have much scrubbing power due to weak leverage. It locks into place but lightly glides, over the floor, surface. When I use it, I step,on it, as I move the mop back and forth for better contact on the stuck on yuck. It's the got steam that loosens the grime and if,you, pass over the grime spots, you shouldn't need the scrubber in most cases. I see the newer version of this has a scrubber brush which attaches to the bottom of the steam mop, once the mop head has been removed. A better thing would be a perimeter scrubber which attaches to this steam mop and fits around the pad and all. When your done scrubbing, you could take it off and continue steam mopping right on the floor. Bissell'S R&D better wake up, they could sell it as an accessory!

Impressed

The Bissell PowerFresh™ Steam Mop is impressive. Although we have only uses the mop on two occasions, we are amazed at the results. We used the mop on our 'pergo' type kitchen floor, bathroom ceramic tiles and on our living room's sealed 'manufactured wood' floors. We had been using "Swifter Products" and we never felt our floors were ever really cleaned. The first time we used the Bissell mop on our kitchen floor we were amazed at how much dirt was removed and how sparkly clean it became. After mopping the bathroom, the tiles shone as bright as the day they were installed. We were nervous when mopping the manufactured wood surface but it turned out beautifully. We are glad we didn't buy a lower priced product from another manufacturer. Trust the reviews this is a top product.
