Many times, I've mopped the floor tiles by my front door, with tiles heading left to the master bedroom and to the right toward the dining room. I came to realize that I was never really cleaning the tiles or grout. I was just making them temporarily shiny on top of a layer of dirt that got down into the tiles' and grout's pores, nooks, and crannies (the tiles are not a flat surface). The PowerFresh Steam Mop lives up to its name. It was steaming as much as I was sweating, but the difference after just one mopping is noticeable (and a bit embarrassing, due to how dirty my floor actually was). Another round with the mop brought up even more dirt and grime, and I need to mop once more to remove the shadows that linger on some tiles. This is not to say the steam mop doesn't do a good job -- it does. But after a decade of never truly cleaning (besides tidying or making shiny) the tiles and grout, I had my work cut out for me. Word to the wise: Don't add any formula or detergent to the mop's fluid holder. Just water, preferably filtered to prevent mineral build-up. I've used both of the scented demineralized waters Bissell sells for the mop. Both smelled good in the bottle. The orange scent didn't linger. The eucalyptus did, but the scent was faint and I don't think anyone visiting would notice. But they are still a good source of water for the mop if you have tap water that's hard.

If you're thinking about getting a steam mop, think no more - get the Bissell steam mop 1940. I LOVE IT!! This is amazing. I have ceramic tile floors and Brazilian cherry wood floors in my home and this mop works fabulous. I used it on high for the ceramic tile floors and low on the hardwood. I do not own a regular mop and never have so I would wash all my floors on my hands and knees and what a pain. So all I have to do now is vacuum them and use the steam mop and the floors look fantastic. I highly recommend this!!!

I used my new PowerFresh steam mop for the first time today and I am very pleased with it! I used it on our ceramic tile floors (kitchen, laundry room, and all of our bathrooms) and it did a great job! I sprayed my floors with a solution of Mr. Clean and water, and the steam mop did a wonderful job! I especially like the fresh scent of the disc. If you are looking for a steam mop with a very low price tag, this is the one to buy!

We have tile floors throughout our home. After vacuuming I steam each room. It is wonderful. Easy to use, lightweight, easy to maneuver. I purchased additional pads so that I could change the pads if needed. I should have purchased this little steamer sooner! I recommend this product.

I have had this mop for at least 4 years. I can't remember exactly when I bought it. It has been used on all of the floors in my house (hardwood and tile). It does a wonderful job of cleaning and is easy to maneuver. I bought the mop for ease of movement since I have severe back problems. If mine broke, I would buy another one. The only thing I don't like is that the microfiber pads stain and do not come white when washed. The ones I have are not worn out, but they look so bad that I am reordering. I wish disposable pads were available. I guess I can't really complain since I have been using the pads for years.

I do really love this machine....as I mentioned I had the previous version of this mop and had it for more than 7 years....the only reason I had to get a new one is mine fell over and that cracked the tank...but this new one stands and balances on its own so that is a great new improvement....but the old version had a trigger to let the water and steam go...the new one just goes...I prefer the trigger but that is really minor...I still love this for cleaning the floors....I have hardwood, Tile and vinyl and I go right through from one room to the other with no problems. I like the new disc that goes in for perfume smell but you do not need it...and it lasts a long time...so that is good....this one also has a scrub part on the back which is nice for stubborn stains or marks on the floors....I wish it came with more than one of the furry mop heads...I dont really like the other new kind of mop head it has....did not think it did such a good job and I go through at least 2 mops when I do the whole downstairs at once...I really could use 3....also used to get 2 at a time in the refills and not only get one....so I would advise getting some extra mops when you order it but I do really love the mop and it does a great job.

we have owned two of these machines. both quit working within 3-5 months. stops making steam and just dribbles water everywhere. you can hear the motor working but no steam. I would not recommend these machines at all. Bissell is suppose to make quality equipment. apparently not in this case.

We received this steam cleaner as a gift about two years ago and my wife has been singing its praises ever since. But now I'm an even bigger fan. A few days ago she brought it to me complaining that steam had started blasting out of the back of it. I thought, "oh no, another piece of junk to toss out." But then I found a YouTube video entitled "Bissell Steam Mop OPERATION/TROUBLESHOOTING & REPAIR" in which the presenter goes into great detail showing how to dismantle the unit. Due to this video I realized that our boiler had probably amassed calcium deposits in its output tubes, causing its emergency pressure relief valve to activate. Sure enough, that was the problem. After dismantling and soaking our boiler in vinegar overnight, the unit was totally clean by morning. I reassembled it and it works like new. While taking it apart I realized how well it was made. Unlike most of today's junk appliances, which are made only to be assembled and never repaired, this unit really exhibits some internal craftsmanship. I did not expect this in the $90 price range. Thanks to Bissell for building something I can repair! And by the way, if you want to avoid this sort of periodic maintenance, use distilled water (rather than tap water), as the instructions recommend.

After 1 yr, it leaks water from the back whenever I am using it to mop my wood floor. I have tried to tighten the cap of the water bottle. I also check if there is leakage around the bottle. None of those problems happen. It only leaks when I use it to mop.

The steam Mop is just what I wanted. It cleans better than I thought it would. The regular mop pad does an excelent job. But the scrubber mop pad is worthless as I tried it on linolium floor. The pad wouldn't slide on the floor at all. Every time I pushed foward the pad would just rollup and come off. I threw both of them in the trash. How can I get two of the plane pads which work perfectly?
