I bought this steam mop based upon the reviews it received and I have to say I'm not sorry that I bought it. It does its job and then some and I LOVE the little scent disks that you can place in the pads. This is my second steam mop and the 4th brand that I've dealt with and this one is by far the best. I have several Bissell products.

I purchased this product less than a year ago based a a recommendation from a friend. I had borrowed hers and LOVED IT, so I went to purchase my own. About 5 months ago, my friends heating element went out and stopped steaming at all. Two months after hers went out, mine went out. They are the exact same model, the 1940. I really did like the way it cleaned but I've only had it 8 months and it will not steam anymore. My Shark lasted 5 years (until I bought this one). Really disappointed =(

I purchased this steam mop 1940 after researching most steam mops on the market. I love it. Doesn't use a lot of water so your floors are just slightly damp but quick to dry. The mop itself is lightweight and easy to maneuver. I have even used it on my carpet to freshen it up, knowing it wasn't going to get real wet. I love it. I am going to buy one now for my daughter so she can have clean floors like mine.

If you're thinking about getting a steam mop, think no more - get the Bissell steam mop 1940. I LOVE IT!! This is amazing. I have ceramic tile floors and Brazilian cherry wood floors in my home and this mop works fabulous. I used it on high for the ceramic tile floors and low on the hardwood. I do not own a regular mop and never have so I would wash all my floors on my hands and knees and what a pain. So all I have to do now is vacuum them and use the steam mop and the floors look fantastic. I highly recommend this!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I normally get on my hands and knees to scrub my floors but can't anymore since my knee replacement. I asked my son for this for Christmas and couldn't be happier with it. The swivel head allows me to get in tight corners and edges. This couldn't be simpler to use.

The title of the review says it all. I got this for Christmas this year and have used it 3x so far. Partly b/c I just had major abdominal surgery 2 weeks before Christmas and needed to take it easy and partly b/c I didn't realize we had THAT much buildup on our floors! This works superb on those areas, especially! I'm talking grease/dirt/grime/dog/cat hair, you name it, etc. buildup. The kind that gets into corners and you THINK your floor is clean until you use a product like this! Now I will say it does take awhile to get these areas clean b/c you have to leave the steamer on it for 10-15 seconds and then immediately lean over and pick it up with a towel or paper towel, but once those buildup areas ARE clean, you don't have to spend that kind of time each time you mop. The only thing I was NOT impressed with were the little scented discs. I don't think they did a thing to make my house smell any better and I don't plan on purchasing any more of them. I threw mine away after the first use b/c it just looked nasty and it didn't really smell nice any longer. I use this mop on the number 2 setting for our real hardwood floors and on the highest setting for the kitchen tile floor. That tile is much older and looks grimier than it really is. I haven't had a chance to work with it in the kitchen too much but have high hopes this will bring the tile back to life, at least a little bit. I'd highly recommend purchasing this steam mop. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Easy to assemble (2 minutes!) and heats up super fast (30 seconds) even when you refill the water reservoir! It's easy to manouever, refill and use, all the way around. I sure hope it holds up and I don't have to come back and remove this review!

I won this Bissell so that was a big plus... I love the 3 different settings n the fact that it gets hot n stays hot n steamy the entire time. It has a small container in where the water goes in and shocking enought it does hold enough water to clean 2 big rooms. Love the fact that it has a scrubber on the bottom. With 5 kids at home, football, basketball n non stop running in n out of the house only means that i really needed a good steamer. That's for a great product!!!!

I just received it and put it together yesterday. I just finished using it in my small kitchen that has vinyl floor. I did not slide as easily as I thought it would; however, I probably did not use the right mop head. I tried using the scrubber mechanism but it would not stay down so I'm sure I need to learn how to do it correctly. I'll change out the mop head and try again. I do not have the distilled water yet so used tap water.

I confess we just purchased this mop in the last two weeks and I have only used it once. We used it on our porcelain tile floors which are found in our kitchen and hallway. The brightness of the tile after we had used the steam mop was stunning! It brightened up our floors considerably.

The steam mop heats quickly, puts out lots of steam, has enough steam to do kitchen and patio, and picks up a lot of dirt. It is easy to use and we like it. However, the cleaning pads have been out of stock since we bought the mop. I am worried that I won't be able to replace the pads once they wear out. They need to be washed after each use and I don't know how long they will last. Otherwise, we have had no problems with the mop. None of the complaints others have listed. It just works great.
