For the past 5 years I have used a Shark steam mop. My 3rd one finally died and I read the reviews for this Bissell 1940 and decided to give it a try. I will NEVER go back to a Shark steam mop again! I love all the features of my Bissell, the carpet glider has helped sanitize my carpet after a family round of the flu hit this past spring. I would love to have a handheld steamer by Bissell because I am sure it would surpass any others on the market. The warranty on this mop is phenomenonal and it proves Bissell stands by their products. The handle on this mop is great for taller people, you don't have to bend over to mop. I highly recommend this steam mop over any other brand out there!

I love this steam mop. I have been using Shark for about two years, and I much prefer the Bissell steam mop. The steam is more evenly distributed and it's easier to push. I love the disks; it makes the room smell so fresh. I would like a longer power cord though and an on/off switch, but otherwise, it's great.

I bought the PowerFresh® Steam Mop 1940 about a month ago based on great reviews. They are all true!! I was able to put together intuitively in a couple minutes. Only need one Phillips screwdriver for the one screw, and ready to go. The water tank is easy to remove and I can do my entryway, bathrooms, kitchen and laundry and still have water left in tank. I use R.O. water, and when I'm finished, I empty the tank and leave it out to dry out and wipe any excess water around where it fits to unit. Then throw the mophead, which you can easily remove by the pull tab, so as not to burn your hand., into the washing machine on hot water with just detergent, and you're done!!! It's as easy to use as it was to put together. The people here at Bissell have really been helpful, as I had a lot of questions before purchasing. I give it 5 stars, but it really deserves more!! Had this Model 1940 for approx. two years. Approx. 6-months ago would plug steam cleaner up and the blue light would flash but when it quit flashing and I tried to get 'steam' it did nothing. If I turned it off and back on several times; as a rule it would finally start working. Now the lights come on, but that is it. Had it plugged up yesterday for three hours (blue lights yes... steam -- NO!! Today have it plugged in,, top blue light is coming on, when you push the blue light for steam.... nothing!!............ Guess I will have to buy another steam cleaner..... but Bissell will be my last choice.

I love this machine! I have 1400 sq ft of tile in my home and cannot imagine traditional mopping every week with mop and bucket. After thoroughly sweeping, I use this steam mop and my floors are immaculate. Customer service is the star of this review, though: I did have a problem with the machine after about a month. The knocking noise it makes during warm up never stopped. I only ever used distilled water, had not been dropped or damaged. I called their customer service line and was not on hold more than a minute or two. Spoke with a rep that tried to troubleshoot with me, but since we could not resolve the issue, and it was still under manufacturer warranty they sent a brand new one for FREE! All I had to do was cut the cord off the broken one and mail it back to Bissell. They provided the pre paid shipping label. Machines break sometimes, and it is frustrating, but it happens and I couldn't ask for anything more than this in a resolution. Bissell has my business for life! I encourage anyone having a problem with their product to contact customer service.

The first delightful surprise was how easy it was to assemble - one screw and one click! The next delightful surprise was how lightweight the mop is and how easy to maneuver in tight spaces like in the bathroom around the toilet. I also like how I can easily launder the mop pads. Finally, I appreciate the variable levels of steam so I have cleaner high traffic areas and kitchen. The best surprise is how quickly I finished the job. I suggest two improvements: a flat bottom on the water tank and an on/off switch to prevent flashes from the outlet. I would recommend this steam mop to my friends.

I bought the Power Fresh Steam Mop after moving to a new home with tile floors and noticing that my old steam mop was leaving streaks. After vacuuming, my floors will look clean then I run this mop and I am amazed at how much dirt it picks up. I love that it is light weight, easy to use, and requires only one refill to clean my entire house.

I just literally picked this unit up 2 hours ago on September 15, 2016 around 6:30 PM. I recently moved into an apartment with light colored hardwood floor and it looked great on day one until that is after about 2 months later the light colored wood now had a shade of dark brown (bacteria) disgusting. Long story short, this Bissell 1940w really cleaned my wood just after one pass, YES i said one pass. After reading all the reviews I finally chose the Bissell over the shark; and I made the right choice! I'm very picky in the performance of products I choose, and I can with confidence recommend this product to anyone. Matter of fact I advise you to buy it and try it, you won't be disappointed. Oh and good build quality as well, the plastic is pretty sturdy.

I started looking for a Shark steamer but after reading reviews I settled on the Bissell instead. I have never owned a steamer so I have nothing to compare it to, but I love this machine. It's lightweight. My kids (12 &16) liked using it on their bedroom floors. I was a little concerned about the small water tank since I have 2100 square feet with NO carpet. I didn't want to have to keep stopping to refill the tank. As long as I use the low or medium setting, the water lasts a for most of my downstairs area and one tank does the entire upstairs (wood) floors. I did use the high steam setting the first time on the tile downstairs and had to refill once. I had a pad that came unraveled after washing, however, I called Bissell and they immediately shipped two new pads and four scented disks. I'm a satisfied customer!

I have both the PowerFresh® Steam Mop Hard Floor Steam Cleaner | 1940 and the PowerEdge™ Lift-Off® Steam Mop Hard Surface Steam Cleaner | 20781. A couple of things that really stand out about this steamer - I like the stand on the PowerFresh. Although I realize that my PowerEdge doesn't really need it (it's a triangle shape) but I always feel like the PowerFresh stays a little cleaner because it has more distance from the floor to allow for the bottom to dry. I have not really used the scent discs much. I used them early on but haven't for a while. They are REALLY strong. I usually wet the pad I use and put a little floor cleaner on it. I love that I don't have to use more grip strength to keep the mop making steam. (The PowerEdge does require that.) The PowerFresh came with two pads. The one without grips is easier to use on gummy or grimy surfaces. BUT the one with grips, really does help clean messes. I have used this time and again to clean a floor in our basement as we have been remodeling it. While this product is a straight floor steamer and doesn't have the extra attachments (like the PowerEdge) for using it on anything but floors, it is able to squeeze in some tighter areas - around toilets, etc. I have not used the little brush on the back much.
