MOLD. I have had two of these units and have had mold issues with both. I had one for 3.5 mo this before I realized where this distinct smell was coming from and I checked my other that was only a little over a month old and it has mold too, just not as much! I reached out to customer service who told me to take the one back to Sam’s Club since it was in the return window. The other I was given clear instructions to gown up in full PPE garb to perform a thorough cleaning by myself. They were installed correctly and the filter was cleaned every week. I have several small children so I keep my house clean so they don’t get sick. The mold grows within the top section that doesn’t come apart. After some investigation, this appears to be common for Midea. There has been previous recalls for the same thing. The air conditioner itself worked great but it should not be growing mold that quickly especially if being installed properly and cleaned regularly. The response from their support team is appalling and I refuse to clean mold in my baby’s room and expose my asthmatic child further. DO NOT BUY. You can see the mold growing on the nooks and crannies as well as the distinct mold speckles on my BRAND NEW one on the part that “swings” to aim the air

I don’t know if this unit was broken in transit or what. 🤷‍♂️ They advertise this A/C as a very quiet unit but i can’t sheep with it on unless i have ear plugs or nose canceling headphones it’s so loud. Lastly, it turns on eco mode by itself all the time. Yesterday i baked, this morning i noticed it had turned itself on eco by itself again… so that’s probably why lol. 🤦‍♂️ So other than these two issues it’s great 😆

​We bought this Midea AC for our attic room—and if you know anything about attics, you know how incredibly hot they can get. It has been working absolutely great to keep my son's room cool and comfortable. The design looks really nice, it has a lot of great modes to choose from, and the compressor is surprisingly quiet. ​Installation was pretty easy, but fair warning: this unit is pretty heavy! Make sure you have some extra help and proper support ready when you go to install it. The only real downside we experienced was trying to connect it to our Google Home. The setup process put us through a lot of hassle before it finally worked. But honestly, if you just need a powerful, reliable AC to keep a hot room cool, this is absolutely perfect. Highly recommend!

Unit is super quiet! I hardly even know that it is on other than my bedroom being cool. I have a mid-size room 10×15 but being upstairs I upped to a slightly higher btu(room size called for 6000btu) I have side sliding windows, but with a set of brackets and some foam i was able to get the unit in my windows (barely). I wish the cord was a little longer so i could use the unused plug in my room but that is my only complaint. (I have a high set window where a Standard height traditional window would be fine). Time will tell how well the unit lasts but it's working fine during our current 90* days with a heat index of 105.

Midea makes an awesome air conditioner. I sent this back because I ordered the wrong one. They made it super easy to do that. I finally bought the correct model and I am very happy with the quality and functions. I now own 2 Midea units and so far, so good.

Unit came in Perfect Condition, well packaged. I've only been using this unit 3 weeks. It's installed in a non insulated storage shed and keeps it considerably cooler than my old unit. I have it hooked up with Emporia energy monitoring. I can see where the Inverter design steps down the power usage when it can. In the heat of the day it uses straight up power of 710 watts ( that's when the outside temp is 0ver 93 degrees) So far I'm well pleased.

The Midea 8,000 BTU is a quiet unit that is easy to operate, has a small profile, and keeps my bedroom cooled to the temperature at which I set it. I was really grateful to have it during the recent heatwave. My bedroom would have been in the mid-80's wihout air conditioning, but with the Midea going it was right at 72 degrees where I set it.

Generally nice and quiet except this unit has separate fans in the back and believe that one is out of balance it causes the window frame & the unit to vibrate pretty severely, different frequencies of the residence depending on the fan speed, and it's pretty loud at times! Either they need to balance these fanes or have much tighter tolerances in the manufacturing as it seems to be about a 12 inch fan in the back on the outside. In addition, the specifications on the box are correct this unit (Model # MAW12V1YWT-S) needs a 25 inch window width to fit in! Had to install it with one side of the accordion panel inserted into the window on a diagonal angle and then sliding over the unit to be able to put the other side through and then back it out to place it properly in the window frame. Same issue with an older Midea 8K version, model # MAWO8SIYWT ! BOTH OF THESE MODELS NEED 25 INCH WINDOW WIDTH !
