AWESOME!
Bought one for garage last year, love it. Just bought 2 more. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention price, but this unit is the best price and is currently on sale, grab em before they run out till next season... and due to the political climate, I suspect they will be out of reach.
Unit unable to cool room
Got 3 of these, installed them correctly but one of the units is unable to cool the room and woke me up around 1 am with a high pitch sound. Restarted the unit. Waited about 10 minutes, but still not cooling enough. Read the manual, and even when set on the lowest setting (60) air is not coming cool enough to cool the room. Maybe I got a defective unit, taking it back for an exchange/ return.

Amazing
I live an 80 yr old building with terrible insulation. So heat is a constant issue during the summer. Hit 92 yesterday and this ac kept my room at 67 from morning to night. Had a 10000 btu Toshiba from HD and had to return it after two months because of compressor issues. It wasn't a bad ac when it was working... But now I realize how outdated it was.. It was loud, not just while running, but it made alot of noise on start up and alot of water noise while running. This Midea is so quiet that I literally for get its on. The inverter tech is crazy, since it doesnt have to run 100 percent or not at all(like traditional window units) you get a constant, even cooling, without harsh compressor and fan noise. My room is 15 x 20 with 12 ft ceilings, in what is essentially an attic. There is only 2 ft between my ceiling and the flat roof above and there is no insulation. This cooled it from 80 when I brought it home. Down to 67 in an hour. And it hasn't stepped off 67 since(according to my seperate room thermometer) Oh and this was 100 bucks less then the Toshiba.
not slide out chassis
Those of you wondering if it's a slideout chassis. Answer is no. For a 12000 btu and above model they should be a slide out bug it isn't. Online products specifications are very vague. Could not find anything on line even from midea. Bought it opened it at the parking lot and read the manual then returned it.

Generally nice and quiet except,...
Generally nice and quiet except this unit has separate fans in the back and believe that one is out of balance it causes the window frame & the unit to vibrate pretty severely, different frequencies of the residence depending on the fan speed, and it's pretty loud at times! Either they need to balance these fanes or have much tighter tolerances in the manufacturing as it seems to be about a 12 inch fan in the back on the outside. In addition, the specifications on the box are correct this unit (Model # MAW12V1YWT-S) needs a 25 inch window width to fit in! Had to install it with one side of the accordion panel inserted into the window on a diagonal angle and then sliding over the unit to be able to put the other side through and then back it out to place it properly in the window frame. Same issue with an older Midea 8K version, model # MAWO8SIYWT ! BOTH OF THESE MODELS NEED 25 INCH WINDOW WIDTH !

Amazing for small rooms, horrible for large rooms
This is a box version of the Midea U. It's blistering cold and has a powerful fan. The fan uses 20 to 40 watts, you'll feel it blowing 20 foot away. At the top end the AC will use 1360 watts. At the low end it'll use 200, 450 and 680 watts then ramp up and down to 900 and 1360 watts. For a small room maybe 350sq ft this ac is amazing. For a mid to large room this ac is garbage. Let me explain. Im trying to cool a living room + a kitchen + a spare bedroom. The total footage comes out to 580sq ft. The living room and kitchen are 430 sq ft and the spare room is 150 sq foot. This midea will jump up to 1360watts and cool everything down to about 76 degrees . Blizzard like cold air, strong airflow and it took the rooms from 95 degrees down to 76 in about an hour. This is where the problem starts. Once the ac hits your desired temp (76) the ac will just ramp down to 240watts. the cold Blizzard turns into a warm gust. The Midea will spend the rest of the time hopping between 250, 450, 680 and 900 watts trying to maintain your desired temp. Unfortunately with a large room this means that the area around the window will be the desired Temps but the area or rooms that are farther away from the window ac will start to warm up. What ended up happening is that my living room would hover around 77/79 degrees my kitchen around 80/82 and my spare bedroom around 84/86 degrees. If the Midea would blow full blast this wouldn't happen, but it won't because it's trying to save energy. I decided to return this midea and get a traditional AC that blow full blast all the time. I left this midea unused for 2 days and then emptied out the water in the ac. There's no drain hole so I had to flip it over to drain out the water. When I did this I noticed there was condensation in the inside fan in the front. The Midea U is known for having a mold problem because they have no drain hole and because of the lid that opens/closes the front fan will have condensation and grow mold. Look up midea U mold issue in youtube and you'll see what I mean. These box midea inverter will have the same issues because there's no drain plug in the back. In order to rectify this you'll have to keep the fan running for an hour after you turn off the inverter to dry off the fan from condensation. I don't want to babysit a window ac so I decided to return it. I have no regrets returning this midea inverter. I purchased a 12k btu midea traditional window ac. It flips between 2 states, 1360 watts full blast artic blizzard mode and 180 watts when the fan is only running. Now everything in my 580sq ft living space is a nice 78 degrees. I would recommend this ac for rooms no larger than 400sq ft. You'll also want to buy a box fan because when this inverter ramps down you won't feel a thing from the ac.

The new model sucks
I used to buy these window units every year, at least a couple of them for my outbuildings. This year , they're completely different. I bought a brand new one and it only lasted for 2 months before all the coolant leaked out and even when it was working, it worked like crap. I hope they bring the old models back.
