Although the capsules are a little on the large size, the 2 capsules dose is easy to swallow. Magnesium is best taken at night, yet this product does recommend taking with a meal. I recommend taking with your dinner/supper instead of eating something with the pills under 3 hours before bed to avoid reflux issues. With food , there is not a burn up taste, but without food, you may experience an off putting dusty taste in your burbs. It does help with relaxation and reduces muscles spasms.
