I've been a tech person for a long time due to occupation (pharmaceutical research) and avocation. Thus I've experienced the rapid increase in storage capacity and migration of external formats. I actually used the old black floppy disks and everything up to now. Recently I was in the club and noticed the WD My Passport. The cost was essentially a $100.00 and I was astonished that a tiny HDD of 5TB capacity with a footprint smaller than a pack of cigarettes (I don't smoke) was even possible. Crazier was the installation of the supplied software and operation. I backed up my old Dell business laptop as a test case and despite a ridiculous amount of data. It took less than an hour for all to be copied - OS, videos, music, pictures, documents, ............. I'm still in disbelief, but not so much that I didn't hesitate to order two more from Sam's Club online. I could not find a better value and there is no better value than Sam's Club + customer service. I need to research what is going on inside this small miracle. There is no sound of a disk turning or stylus transferring data. The only clue that the device is operating is a very small pilot LED on the cable side. No heat, no sounds, no vibration. It must be magic or at least to my comprehension. It's heavy for its size and the aesthetics are very attractive. It feels good in your hand like a favorite tool. Anyway, it's pretty cool and a great value I never expected to see in my lifetime. I'm old, but technology and grandkids are two of the most wonderful things that make sticking around worthwhile.

Like others have said, this drive is not very fast. The big problem with it is that it is heavy. I used this to back up VERY important data, and since I manage International business, sometimes I can be on the road for weeks at a time. Therefore, I live or die by my hard drive. This thing fell off a chair to the floor, maybe 18 inches and died. It is only a few months old! What a disappointment, and I lost months of work. I know IT people...3 back-ups on two different types of media. Easier said than done.

Works fine, using it off an HDHOMERUN FLEX 4K to record TV. Quiet, and doesn't get hot.

It's working great so far! We got it to back our cloud storage to and its working beautifully.

I purchased this to save recordings on my Tablo DVR device. It was easily formatted by the Tablo and has been working as expected.

Installed easily enough however the backup software seems to have created a recurring error regarding the "Bonjour dll". Still haven't figured that out. And there are a lot of attempts to purchase more services.
