Not what you pay for!

Why can't these companies give you what you pay for. Instead of a 5TB drive it's actually a 4.5TB drive. This drive should be advertised as a 4TB drive instead of a 5TB drive. I paid for 5TB, give me 5TB.

Hi, Please be informed that systems will use both decimal and binary to measure the size. A drive's size is measured by using the total number of bytes that can be used on the drive. Peace of mind, worth it.

Best drive out there, you will only have 4.7 TB available after setting it up with Windows. Worth the money to backup your pics and data for safe keeping. Been using this type of drive for over 5 years. Love the Encryption if you need it.

Locked up

Worked for about one year then no longer mounts to laptop. Retrieval software out there at a cost $$$. Western Digital should offer their own free retrieval for their products going bad.

Kinda chintzy for $100 but a lot of storage. (5TB)

I bought a 1 TB hardrive just like this one 15 years ago for a similar price. SSD drives are aprox. $60 the storage got bigger but the product appears to be the same.

Installed easily enough however the backup software seems to have created a recurring error regarding the "Bonjour dll". Still haven't figured that out. And there are a lot of attempts to purchase more services.
