It has a huge storage capacity with blazing speed when transferring files. I partitioned it into two parts for backing up individual files and for Time Machine. Since I have a Macintosh I had to reformat the drive so I could use it, which didn’t take but a few moments. It’s price for the value you receive is excellent.

So it took me a while to format it to use on my MacBook Pro. I have this drive set up to save photos to conserve space on computer hard drive. Loads of space.

I lost all of my pictures and videos one time because my hard drive crashed. As a result now I have a backup and I backup my backup. I also don't like cloud services, I am old school and just keep an external hard drive in my safety deposit box. This one is perfect and 5TB will take a long time to fill up.

Price was right and it works great for my use. I don’t know how long it will last, and it is much larger capacity than I need, but I couldn’t find a less expensive smaller one. I am using it connected to a Tablo for recording TV. It has been running for a month. I assume it should last about 3 years in this situation.

Easy to use. Plug n play. I like its portability and 5TB memory capacity to hold photos from my cellphone. I plug it directly to my cellphone usb c port. I bought 4. 2 black and 2 white.

HDD may be OK, but I was unable to install the included backup software. This was a deal breaker for me. Even at Sam's Clubs great price. I returned both drives I had purchased to run scheduled backups on 2 of my computers. I purchased a Seagate 5TB HDD instead. Their software works on my systems.

occasionally get read error and afraid to save anything important

Like others have said, this drive is not very fast. The big problem with it is that it is heavy. I used this to back up VERY important data, and since I manage International business, sometimes I can be on the road for weeks at a time. Therefore, I live or die by my hard drive. This thing fell off a chair to the floor, maybe 18 inches and died. It is only a few months old! What a disappointment, and I lost months of work. I know IT people...3 back-ups on two different types of media. Easier said than done.

Does not connect to my Mac Pro. Self installed program does not work. Very little support from website.
