First Official Call Up

It has been just over 12 months since our unit was installed. I have held out this long with writing a review until such time so I could witness a real loss of main power and the automatic switch and start/load sequence work. About an hour ago we had a lightning strike which knocked out power. I jumped out my chair excited (weird I know) but finally a real event. It started and loaded in between 15 to 20 seconds which was the way I wanted it and it is doing great. When the A/C kicked on, that initial surge caused a split second RPM drop, but that is to be expected. A year ago I was hesitant with such a large dollar purchase for "maybe" and today I have no regrets. Great product. Our dealer was Optimize EGS out of Scott Louisiana. Peace be with you

A great generator for the price!

We installed this generator in December 2015 and it has performed great. We live in the country in Nebraska and being without power for several days in the winter or summer is bad. We have our whole house wired into the generator so when the power goes off our generator kicks in. I also installed UPS systems on our Satellite TV, wireless router and televisions. When the power goes off our televisions and Internet are not effected and the generator keeps them charged. It's a great generator and adds value to your home.

A necessary support for our requirements

Modell G007170 Whole Pkg well administered. Denise, Office Coord & kept everyone on task to completion. July4/23 Tony and crew placed unit followed shortly with Josh's crew with propane instal and hook up. July 6/23 Tony and crew Mitchell & Jacob completed the full instal with a mini demo of power fail. Sat July 8/23 had a slight problem with the Mobil Link and contacted Mobil link Support and Todd had us online in no time a very nice informative feature. Given that I have full COPD and require 24/7 home oxygen this type of product gives Judy and myself a great deal of comfort/peace of mind that we will be looked after in the event of a power fail. In closing thanks for Generac's product and service/instal group

24Kw

I gave it a 4 star because I haven't had to use the services yet. The installation process was done very professionally and in a timely manner. Had an issue with initial startup of the generator but got everything going smoothly. I did find the wifi connections a little difficult but finally got it connected later the next day. I would recommend Generac to anyone.

Tested by Mid Atlantic snow storm of 1/3/2022

Brandon at Powertech in Hollywood MD did our install and he has been great to work with. Two close calls with ice storms last February and the disaster in Texas got our attention and we decided to install backup power. At 76 with COPD I no longer feel up to dragging the 50 year old 4 kW portable Coleman and cables the 100 feet from the shed to the house, opening the breaker to the utility, running the cable through the garage and up the steps to the dryer outlet, and keeping the generator fueled (I did this for a week in the 1990s). Brandon did our install the last week in March. We had a few very short weather related outages over the summer but the Generac didn't have a chance to demonstrate itself until 1/3/2022. We got a bit over a foot of wet heavy snow. It started about 4:30 am. The local utility started to experience outages about 5 am and by 2 pm over 45000 (about 25%) of customers were without power. We lost utility power at 10:52 am. The generator came right up and ran like a champ for the next 23 hours and 57 minutes when we got power back. We didn't realize we were back on the utility power until we got the text message from Generac that our unit was "ready to run" Coincidentally, 10 minutes after that the generator did it's weekly 5 minute exercise run. We lived normally during the outage, were the only house, other than our Amish neighbors, who heat with wood and light with kerosene, with lights. The peak load on the 24 kW Generac was about 16 kW when the outside temperature was about 19 degrees, the water heater was running due to my wife's nightly bath, and the upstairs heatpump came on in resistance heating mode. I have yet to trudge the 100 feet through the snow to the generator to check the oil (the manual specifies doing this daily when the unit is running). BTW, two days after we were restored about 4500 customers of our utility remain to have power restored. The utility is dealing with a herculean task with all the trees, poles, and lines down. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of their crews and their contractors and the crews they have brought in from other nearby utilities to help with restoration. This will be a storm to remember. Getting the Generac was the right thing for us.

22kw- workhorse

Bought the 22kw LP generator in 2016. Just did the regular weekly testing, until night storm took down powerlines in August 2018. Generator came on two minutes later and our outdoors lights, were shining again. House is all electric and was able to do, the daily household chores, plus took care of 40x40 shop, camper and small garage. Ran over 8 hours, before lights were restore, and didn't miss a beat. We were impressed, with the fuel consumption. Our generator is loud, due to echoing off the shop. Glad we had installed it far from the house. After so many hours, will need break-in oil change. Due to insurance purpose, we had an electrician installed the wiring and hooked it up.

Simple to use

Had installed in April 2020. Nice space saver. The automatic power switch is really an item that you need. In ten seconds after the power went out the lights were back on. When the power was restored, the switch from generator to line was so quick there was not even a flicker. The is a green light on the side of the generator that lets you know that all is well and the generator is ready to serv. I have not reached a maintenance cycle yet but, the manual indicates that it is pretty easy to service. When the light go out for an extended period of time you wish you would have installed a Generac system.

Does a Great job and is very quiet too.

I just got my Generac 22 Kw installed this week. The Dealer did a fantastic job, and from start (set the generator on the pad) to finish (Final City Inspection), it only took 4 straight business days. It was like clockwork with the Electrician, Plumber, Gas Co., and Inspector, one day right after the other. When we did the first Start-up, I was really surprised how quiet the generator was . I thought it would be a lot nosier than it was. I know it won't bother my neighbors when we all lose power in Central Florida during a Hurricane or other event. I am very pleased with my purchase, which I got at a great (and the best) value from my hometown Dealer.

Peace of mind is priceless

I just had this model installed. Lohrum Electrical in Greensburg, IN had it up and running with the whole house transfer switch in about 4 or 5 hours. Much faster than I anticipated and with excellent quality workmanship. We have had several power outages in the past, some that lasted for several days, and have lost a lot of food in our freezers and refrigerator. We now have the peace of mind that that will never happen again.

We had this product at our last house and immediately bought one for our new home.

This is our second generac generator. We had one in Texas and now live in Colorado. Last year before we installed our generator, I was home by myself for 54 hours in a huge snowstorm with no power. The worst part of it was no well for water. Refrigerated food had to be put outside in the snow. That's when we decided to get our Generac.
