I bought my 18KW in April 2023 after suffering six (6) days without power the prior year due to hurricanes here in Florida. It kept my whole house powered for 2 days after Helene and 4 days after Milton. It's only running about 50-60% load with a 2 1/2 ton heat pump, light's, well pump, hot water heater, etc. I was very pleased to find it only used approx. 1.2 gallons of propane per hour (at 50% load), and not 1.7 as spec sheet shows. My 200 gallons can go 7 days if needed, but did take off-line and gave it a rest to check oil. Exercises every Monday for 20 mins. like clockwork ready to go 30 secs after power outage.. High recommend this unit.

We bought this unit after several frustrating power outages and we couldn't be happier. Our electrician is one of their distributors. So he was able to install it for us and get it up and running in half a day. It is pretty quiet, considering how big it is, and we can run most of our house with it. So far we only had to use it once for about 10 minutes, but it worked flawlessly. We highly recommend Generac!

Installation was neat and efficient even following 10” of snow. Installers were courteous and informative. They used drop cloths to keep all floor surfaces safe. And even shoveled snow when necessary. Following installation there was a review of equipment and time for questions. A test was run so that I could hear the generator in operation. Installers made sure pilots on furnace and water heater were lit. A technician came by following the installation to help me download the mobile link.Today, as promised, my generator tested itself. This 10 kw, 7171, is a great replacement for my 10 year old portable unit. No more pulling cables from the shed 65 feet to the house, and gas cans. Actually looking forward to a power failure. Once everything was assembled installation was about 5 hours. Love it

We lived and worked in Afghanistan for almost a decade and experienced the "norm" of needing backup power generation. With Hurricanes, Ice Storms, and concerns about rolling blackouts from unstable utilities, the concept of NOT having backup power was foolish. We studied the problem and solutions for nearly 90 days before we arrived at the best solution, which was a Whole House Generator from Generac. The Pros: Just finished installing a 18kw in our new home. Super simple and the documentation provided for site selection, installation, and initial testing was great!!! The unit cranked the first time within 10 seconds (air in the lines). Subsequent cranks are about 2 seconds. The installed unit and transfer switch look great and blend right in. The generator is smaller than our AC condenser, so its almost hidden on the side of the house. The unit maintains great voltage and frequency stability for something this small. It sags for a second or two when my AC starts and the house is already pulling a decent load, but it recovers quickly. I had read of people having trouble with their UPS units not liking generator power. None of that here. I have three different UPS units, each from a different manufacture...all are happy with the Generac output. The Cons A little loader than I thought it would be, but not bad. Inside the house, you cannot hear it running unless you are in the room immediacy next to the unit, but the neighbors without power will not like listening to it, while they sweat at night with their windows open. They need to hire a competent programmer to do something about their activation process and WiFi pairing. Thank god you only need to do it once. I am disappointed by how limited the interface to the generator is. I knew there was a subscription service, but I stupidly assumed that was only needed for remote monitoring while away from home. I expected the smart phone app to be full featured while on my local network...not the case. It tells me the Battery voltage and that is it. It does not even reflect if the unit is available, unavailable, or running. Overall, I'm recommending Generac to friends. I still think its the best choice.

Generac Guardian 22kw generator will provide power to the entire house in event of a power outage. Unit is well constructed and designed for long term use. Fueled by natural gas it does not requre external fuel storage tanks and does not require periodic fuel resupply and does not have contamination issures common to diesel supplies.

Just had it installed today 5/15/18 and very impressed with the way it's constructed the contractor was honest and professional he accidentally delivered the wrong size generator which was a 22kw which he originally recommended a 16kw but he said 22kw is better but it cost more but he worked it out where the monthly terms would be the same I would just be paying 4 months longer after the 36 month term,He explained how everything worked.

Having to listen to our neighbors generator kick on immediately after our neighborhood has power lost and knowing they are sitting in their home comfortably (with their a/c running) while we are left with no electric, no a/c (in Florida) we finally decided to get our automatic standby generator installed. Best. Decision. Ever! The process from beginning to end was effortless. We purchased our Generac generator from Holly Electric (Donald and Crystal were awesome!) and they handled everything! The installers Jason II, Eli, and Johnny were professional and friendly and not only installed our generator but cleaned up after themselves including making sure the generator was wiped down free of handprints (Thanks Jason!) a small gesture that showed me he takes pride in his work! I now have peace of mind especially when it comes to the possibility of power loss during hurricane season.
