This is my second Generac. My first was in the Northeast and was a 20KW, but in Florida I upgraded to the 22KW due to large A/C requirement. The generator is surprisingly quiet. I only know its running because it sends me a text! This is a great feature because even when I travel I now know if my house lost power. I compared price and features to the biggest competitor and the Generac was 20% cheaper both in the Northeast and in Florida. The unit also looks great and my neighbors said they had to go outside after a power outage to know it was running because its so quiet.

Our electric supplier has been unreliable for the 39 years that we have lived in our home. Finally decided to purchase an automatic generator. Have not had the chance to use it, since it was installed, but now have the peace of mind that if our electric does go off in the future, we have the generator to power our all electric home.

I have a 22kw LP powered Generac model number 0056380 with transfer switch at my home on the East Coast of Florida. It was installed 02/2010. It runs for 15 min every week and is serviced annually. Its been through its share of hurricanes and power outages and never let the family down in 10 years. 22 kw will run the entire home. As long as you service the system annually it may last another 10 years I highly recommend Generac along with the network of service professionals

A quick word about thomas electric. If you looking to have a whole house generator installed, these are the folks to do it. While they might be a little pricey, they are without doubt the very bet people to install these units. They arrived exactly on time with a 4-man crew with everything they needed for installation. They have instilled hundreds of these Generac units and know them well. However, what I noticed was their attention to detail. They measured everything carefully and used a level at every point to make sure things were absolutely straight. They even took pains to spray grey enamel on exposed pipes to make them match the grey of the cables. Where they had to did up plants, they make every effort to replant them once the cables were trenched and attached to the electric. They even made sure that the caulk they used to seal around the pipes and cables matched match the surface they were sealing. Afterwards they cleaned up everything and finished the job exactly on time. These installation details give you an idea how conscientious they were. Excellent installation service.

Although I am impressed with the overall quality of my 22kw Generac generator & transfer switch, unfortunately I did not do enough reserarch & was surprised to find: 1. It runs at roughly 1/2 speed (2.5gph LPG) with no load. Regardless of what their engineers claim, there is no excuse for this with today's technology especially since it already drops from high rpm to idle when exercising at no load. It should match rpm to load like most portable units do. 2. I am unable to turn it off & on remotely with my smart phone app. I would think the existing software could do this safely. It appears at least one other manufacturer offers this. 3. The transfer switch does not indicate when load is from utility vs. gen unless you open the cover & note the relay position with a flashlight (or remove the inner cover). Note it does include a switch you can wire your own indicator light to. 4. There is no user display of output, i.e. watts, amps, volts, frequency. Generac confirmed a dealer can access volts & frequency on the generator display but not load. Although I have all the meters to measure these for testing, there needs to be a full time digital display on the transfer switch & on the smart phone app. My experience is as an industrial engineer & building contractor.

We had a similar Generac Generator in our previous home and upon moving into our new home in a new state where storms and power outages are more common, we naturally decided to once again add a Generac Generator. Our experience with these products has been very satisfying and makes us feel more confident and protected. Very pleased with the product and that this company stands behind the product and supports their installers.

Installation and operation of Guardian +200A was fast and easy to test. The redesigned 22KW unit looks great and code panel is easy to understand. The test startup after fuel line attached was instant start after 2 cranks. 2nd test after install of electric switch over was instant start and had electric flowing in 6 seconds. This will make our home easier to maintain now without worries of weather or Electric company problems delivering needed power. We now can take vacations and not have to worry about electric outages.

Features, appearance, quality, and the installation work was beyond what we ever imagined. The unit speaks for itself. We did our research, and without a doubt GENERAC is the way to go. Elan Electric was the company we hired to get the job done. Kudos, to the team! Josh, and Tom and TJ, professional, and very informative. Never got old when we had a question, and we had a lot of them. they were rated FIVE STARS when we found them, WE give them another FIVE STARS, BRAVO to ELAN ELECTRIC TO A JOB WELL DONE. I hate losing electrical power — no heat or cooling, no lights, no Internet. In the past, I’ve lived in areas where power could go off for days. No more! I had a 22 kw Generac installed a year ago. The peace of mind it provides is priceless. When the lights go out, I count to 6, and I hear the generator start. Then I count to 15, and the lights come on. During the last year, we’ve had four multi-hour power outages. The Generac has never failed: Within 25 seconds, power is back on every time. I will never live without a whole home generator again.

I had an electrician install this generator brand new out of the box. It started right up and worked fine, however we couldn't get the Wifi module to work. I called Mobilelink and we couldn't figure it out, so I had to have a service tech come out to trouble shoot. Turns out the wifi module wasn't even plugged in. So we plugged it in, connect to the internet and did a software update that ultimately fried the control unit, so now the generator won't even start. The control unit is now on order and am waiting with a very expensive giant paperweight sitting in my yard. To make matters worse, there is currently a heat wave with rolling power outages and my generator is just sitting there doing nothing except burning a hole in my pocket.
