We purchased the Generac system for our home about 6 months ago anticipating an active hurricane season in Hawaii. Luckily the hurricanes passed our remote island, but we did have several power outages due to high winds and downed power lines. One recently lasted 3 days! All of our refrigerated foods were not lost, we had lights in house and we were able to stay in touch with emergency news reports. We are very pleased with the efficient operation of our Generac. Best investment ever and have recommended it to all of our friends!

This is my second Generac whole stand by generator. I bought in 2016 and the new one as it has the aluminum housing and it has 5K more power, even I really did not need the extra power. I bought the extended warranty. So far it works just fine – we have only one outage and that lasted about 6 hours. I live in the Houston area and the time we really need a generator are hurricane type events and those can keep the areas powerless for up to three weeks. Before I bought my current home, the neighbors reported to me with we had hurricane Ike in 2008, they were without power for over two weeks. As long a BIG tree does not fall on the unit, I am ready for the next one.

the best way to describe this unit is worry free. When the power goes out the unit kicks in. The unit looks nice and actually this is an upgrade from an older model. Only concern was that when a part went out on the unit within within a few days, it took Generac over 6 weeks to remedy the issue. I almost went to a different brand because of it.

Our home is approximately 7,000 sq.ft. with a fully equipped office. This installation was installed quickly and expertly, Compared with other systems/manufacturers, this installation is accommodating the entire home and office at 2/3rds or less the rated output and half the cost. very efdfective.

I bought one of the first automatic standby Generacs years ago. I hope the new one is as good as the old. The old one was plug and play on the wiring. New one is more difficult on wiring. Have to call or go on Internet to activate. They don't want the average homeowner to install, that's a missed opportunity. Good unit so far.

I had this Generator installed about 4 months ago. The power failed only once since then and the Generator kicked in within 10 seconds. We hardly noticed the power failure. If this Generator continues to work like this (with proper maintenance) for the next 10 years--I will consider this as an outstanding investment. So far so good.

In the past I have only installed water cooled units at our homes but I decided to try the 22KW or this installation. The area required is much smaller but the unit seems to be as noisy as a 3600 RPM water cooled unit. I am not sure what i expected but I was surprised at the level of noise the first real power loss.

02/05/17 Generac, 22 KW Home Standby Generator Unit, Exceeds Expectation… We purchased the Generac 22 KW model 6551, p/n 45335 from the Northern Tool Company, a Generac Dealer, in August 2016 with free shipping. I made the purchased decision based on my previous experience with a 7.5 KW Generac generator, coupled with the following features… full home stand by unit, aluminum housing, smart switch, cold weather starting kit, flexible fuel line, easy switching from NG to LP fuel, True Power technology, OHVI engine and Quiet-Test..i.e….self starting programmable test and extended warranty. Local dealers assisted me with the installation with no significant problems experienced during the installation along with an instance start up. Great job. On January 25, 2017, 4 months later, our electric went off and was off for 5 hours due to a downed power line caused by a fallen tree. The generator ‘kicked in” automatically, what a relief. We couldn’t be happier with our purchase and having the peace of mind, especially living in the country. From a satisfied customer in Batesville, Indiana.

We spent considerable time studying whole house standby generators before making our choice of a Generac. Our primary concern was reliability and we could find none better than our 22K unit. We live in a rural area and are subject to electrical power outages more frequently than most. Our system has started each and every time our power is interrupted and our essential home services are restored within seconds. This has included starts and power generation in snow conditions. The unit is quiet when running and difficult to hear unless near the windows and wall overlooking the set. Our unit is fueled by propane from a dedicated tank and both the tank and generator are easily concealed from front or side exposure by a low picket fence and shrubs. Access to the unit is secured by the set's internal lock yet access is quick and easy. Service areas are easily accessible. The control panel is informative and displays service requirements. The transfer panel is in keeping with panels normally found at home electrical service entrances. We would recommend anyone considering a whole house standby generator to look closely at Generac's offerings.

We are a small skilled nursing home and for years had relied on a portable generator to provide basic power during power losses which are rare. The problem was it required some knowledge to start and use the generator efficiently with as little time as possible after a power loss. With staff change overs this became a problem thus our decision to upgrade to a GENERAC automatic unit. We are very satisfied as is our local fire chief with our new equipment.
