Bad shrimp health department

I have eaten this brand of shrimp numerous of times. Today from my purchase this month. It tastes like I was eating sand. No veins in them. It was concerning

Not Real Jumbo

These, of course, looked impressive and large while frozen in the bag. However, after thawing they were a lot smaller than they appeared. I don't know if I would even call these large. The "weight" is very obviously after they are frozen. Once you realize you're getting a lot of water/ice weight, these are NOT a good deal at all.

Bamboozled

The shrimp, that is 4 bags worth, were so filled with sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) that the shrimp would not cook properly even under 400 degrees F. The STPP protected the shrimp from heat that even after cooking the shrimp was still opaque. If you were wondering why your shrimp is producing soap bubbles, doesn't cook right or taste right and shrinks down to a lesser size after cooking, then you too have been bamboozled.

quality has deteriorated over time

I’ve bought these shrimp more times than I can count, usually 8-10 bags at a time. I use them for seafood boils. The shells use to be in tact, they had a firm feel when cooked and a sweet taste. Now, I don’t know if the supplier has changed but the shells are half off, the shrimp have no taste and when steamed or boiled they take on a rubbery feel. This wasn’t the case a few months ago. Please check the supplier as the last bags I’ve bought, in the clubs in Florida and elmsford, NY have been trash!

These shrimp are farmed in India. I would.not recommend any farmed sea food from Asia as the growing conditions are simply disgusting. Very unsustainable and very dirty. Just pay a bit more and get the wild caught Argentina shrimp. Those taste waaay better than these
