You'll love it, if you know what to expect

I've had this machine for about a month. With a family of 6, it has to perform, and so far has done so. After using these combo units on a trip to japan, I've been waiting for them to be available from a reliable maker in the US. The good. For most loads, the AI wash/dry cycle gets clothes clean and dry in between 2 and 2.5 hours. Not having to switch machines makes this really flexible for busy days, overnights etc. No more forgotten loads in the washer that need to be rewashed. Capacity is great, but you can't stuff it full. It takes 4+hrs if totally loaded (think shoved in to fit). Leave 1/3 to 1/2 the space empty and you'll be happy. Built in storage/dispenser for detergent and softener keeps things neat and easy. The machine is quiet. The app is intuitive, and has some fun features like changing the cycle complete tune as well. Very attractive unit. Single dial interface works well. Lots of options if you like them. 120v power and no vent is AWESOME. Flexible placement, no clogged dryer vents, no associated fire hazard, and uses so much less electricity. We have solar so our overall use is monitored daily, and it has dropped considerably given we run 5 to 10 loads a week. In CT power is expensive, this makes a huge difference and is overlooked by many. Very gentle on clothes, less shrinking, less color fading, comes out feeling "different" but probably because they are dry but not desert hot/dry and over worked. The different. You'll likely need to change your laundry approach. Instead of doing loads all weekend, back to back switching machines constantly (ie a load is ready every 60min once you get the process moving), daily laundry is better, and I've found much easier. No big piles to fold, kids can run a load on their own with 2 button pushes, and the whole process is just smoother. I really like the change it pushed. Some may not. The things I don't love. Minor but a few. First, the lint filter is on top of the machine, so you can't install under a counter. The filter is easy to clean, but the vent that discharges into it also collects lint and is a pain to remove and clean. Second, it collects lint on the seals. A quick wipe down every load keeps things clean, but be ready for that. Otherwise it ends up back in the clothes. We've had a few instances where it just didn't dry. One when the laundry room door was closed and the unit got hot. Seems to need good airflow even though it is using water to help condense moisture as it dries. It can handle large bedding. But you may find that it dries faster hanging it than in this machine, especially if it comes out damp and you select the dry only mode. Just hang it up if you can or drape over a railing. AI mode is fastest. Normal, wash/dry and dry only are 30 to 50 percent longer. Let the machine do the thinking when possible. Overall, fantastic purchase, hopefully it lasts.

Exactly what I wanted and needed!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this unit about 6 months ago and trust me I was skeptical! However this is the best appliance u have purchased ever! If used correctly you have washed and dried clothes in just a few hours! I learned alot in the last 6 months...small loads are key and dry much faster. However I have washed and dried large comforters and pillows before and it did gemreat just needed to dry for a while. The clothes feel wet when you touch them after it dries...don't worry and just put them out and they instantly feel dry! I fill the reservoirs every once in a while and it automatically dispenses the amount you want which is a huge plus! No more dryer sheets and clothes don't have static! You do have to wash the filter every few months or the dry cycle will stay on and won't recognize that the load is dry...lesson learned. It's a great machine I actually had a sevice call done because of not washing my filter and LG came out to show me how to wash and gave me a new one which was amazing! I also had the pleasure of meeting the engineer behind the machine which was sort of fun. Anyways if you constantly forget your clothes in washer and have to re wash your loads and dewrinkle I would highly suggest this unit! It's saves space and looks amazing and does it's job! I'll never go back...combo forever!

No good product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I returned this product within a day and a half of having it . It can take up to 3 hours to wash a load and at the end you still have to select the DRY setting at least twice to finish drying one load of laundry. That dry setting goes on for two hours snd forty five minutes two times ! don’t forget . What a nightmare. Great idea , but this all in one needs more work .

Pretty good. Seems like the engineering was rushed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like being able to throw in a load and not have to switch the load to the dryer. However, the dryer doesn't always complete drying, and I have to run it longer. I'm not sure why it's not sensing the moisture, you'd think it could do that. I did figure out from the scattered and incomplete documentation that you can combine the reservoirs for detergent and softener into one large detergent reservoir. I never use softener, so that was great! The lint trap is a little wonky. The engineers really didn't figure that all the way out. The app tells me when the cycle is done, which is nice, but it says to open the door or remove the load immediately to avoid odors. I don't think this should be required.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my new LG for 6 weeks. It has met all my expectations. I have Wi-Fi capability but have not used that feature yet. It automatically dispenses detergent and softener. I probably have been using too much detergent until now as I filled the automatic dispenser on first wash and have yet to refill.

Love Her!

I love my Combo Washer. One expects their laundry to come out clean, smelling good and ready to put away. My laundry is so clean and so soft, it’s hard to believe and this is without dryer sheets! There is a learning curve, obviously, the biggest being the lint situation. Using my previous LG dryer, lint never escaped from the trap in the door. With this combo, a little tuff escapes the trap once in a while but I can handle that. All in all, this combo is the answer to any prayer asking for help with the laundry!

Great Product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like this LG product so much because it has slick design with large capacity which can wash/dry bulky loads like bedding at one time and also it is quieter and makes better clean than my old washing machine. Washing and drying in the same machine is quite impressive and it has several great features, as well. It can be controlled remotely with my phone using ThinQ function. That's great!! Thank you!

Convenient but dryer needs improvement

I just bought the washer dryer about a week ago and it has its pros and cons. Pros: It is convenient that you can wash and dry the clothes all in one machine. You can fill up the laundry detergent dispenser to last for several loads. You can follow how your load is going and if it is done in the app. Cons: We consistently have to dry every load twice. We have tried several ways to wash/dry the clothes so that they are actually dry at the end. This includes only filling the washer/dryer halfway with clothes, wash and dry followed by dry only, wash and dry AI followed by dry only, wash by itself then dry only 120 minutes (all which required an extra dry session). It would be really helpful to be able to dry it right the first time and if there was a function to make clothing more dry instead of a consistent damp. The lint filter is also difficult to pull out without breaking.

Worth the upgrade!

We bought this unit because we live in a very small house and wanted the space savings. My wife had a combo w/d unit 10-15 years ago that didn’t work well and was hesitant to get another, but after seeing the advances to these units over the years we decided to try it. Plus this is a heat pump unit. It has been great so far. It’s cleans and dries your clothes just like it’s supposed to. The heat dryer is definitely a plus, you can tell it’s gentler on the clothes and much more energy efficient (not just blowing hot air outside). The unit is also SIGNIFICANTLY quieter than our prior stackable w/d which was only 4 years old. Super easy to use, and not that I wanted another app on my phone but it does work well with the app.

Bad drying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly I bought this 2 weeks ago and I am not satisfied. It washes great but drying is another story. I’ve tried every combination of wash and dry and it is not drying properly. Also the smell! My clothes come out smelling like burnt rubber. It should not be that bad. It’s very unfortunate. Now I’m just going to make other arrangements to have the 220 installed and buy the tower.

Hi Cathy07. Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to read that the ENERGY STAR® Certified LG Ventless Washer/Dryer Combo LG WashCombo™ All-in-One 5.0 cu. Ft. Mega Capacity with Inverter HeatPump™ Technology and Direct Drive Motor, Model # WM6998HBA is not drying properly and we sincerely apologize for any inconveniences to you. The rubber smell will dissipate after a few washes, but to help with that, please try operating the Tub Clean cycle without any laundry items in it, then select the Dry Only cycle with dryer sheets without any clothing items in the tub.
