I love the compact size of a washer/dryer combo, and better energy efficiency of front loading machines and the new LG heat pump technology. This Combo W/D works on a standard 120 volt outlet and the dryer is ventless - no gas hookup or ducting to worry about! It took just minutes to connect the water lines / drain pipe and it was ready to go (I used the installation service because I'm not handy). Amazing. The large digital display walks you through the startup and it's easy to figure out the wash cycles, temperature, etc. I washed a pretty full load that included heavier items like towels and sweatshirts and it was done in about 2 hours. The display gives the estimated time for the load to finish washing and drying, which was great, AND I didn't have to remember to come back and load the dryer. Even the heavier items were fluffy and dry. In terms of size, this could easily fit bulky bedding like a large comforter or heavy blanket. Really have to thank LG for this W/D Combo, they thought of everything!

As a busy mom - this LG WashCombo All-In-One makes my life SO MUCH EASIER. I toss a load in in the morning, and then whenever I have a free minute later in the day I fold and put the load away. No more stinky, mildewy clothes that I left all day in the wash machine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After having used this machine for about a month and a half I can say that this machine is more convenient than having a separate washer and gas dryer, and uses a fraction of the water and energy. With very few exceptions all of my laundry has come out perfectly clean and dry, and those few exceptions I can attribute entirely to my own user error due to either improper loading of clothes, or improper mode selection. When I say user error I am being completely serious. The first thing to understand is you can't stuff this thing full to the brim with clothes, and often times less is more. The second thing to understand is there are too many modes - this machine should have only three functions available to a normal user: AI Wash + Dry, AI Wash, and Dry Only. Don't try to be smarter than the machine, just let it detect the load settings for you and let the machine worry about the rest. Now that I've said all that, this machine isn't perfect and I do have a few things to point out: Too much information has been crammed into the small display so it's easy to miss out on certain things, like whether or not the mode you've selected has the 'dry' function activated or not, and I wish more work had been done on this aspect of the UX (any user who's attempted to wash towels or bedding on one of the non-AI modes and ended up with a pile of wet laundry knows what I'm talking about). I also wish there was a way to have the drum light stay on for longer, or just have it on the entire time the machine is running - I can't be the only person weird enough to spend a Friday evening, favorite beverage in hand, watching my laundry. If I could have one feature added it would be this: I would love to have the ability to use both the detergent and softener tanks for detergent, but instead of linking them together I wish I could give them meaningful names in the UI and and select them separately at the time I start the machine. Like a lot of people I don't use fabric softener: it makes clothes feel weird and it ruins the ability for towels to absorb water. However, I do use both scented and unscented detergent. Some of the people in my household like the scented detergent, but some of us are sensitive or allergic to fragrances and prefer our laundry without. Having this ability would be a huge improvement in how I use the machine for my needs, and I think it would be the same for a lot of other people with families too.

I replaced my washer and dryer with this all in one and its about the same size as the washer I replaced it. My old dryer didn't work very well and always left my clothes damp. This one is better but my clothes are sometimes damp when it finishes. The app is pretty cool and the remote starting is awesome. It doses the detergent so you don't have to worry about detergent unless it tells you. Overall very happy with it

I was very skeptical about utilizing a unit that performed washing and drying in a single unit. One of my biggest pet peeves is mildew stench from wet clothes, so I was reserved that a single unit, after washing, could completely dry my clothes. I put this bad boy to the test today and have been washing all heavy linens, and like a pro my new LG all in one unit handled, cleaned, and made my linens fresh as new in just about 2 hours. The smart sensing app knew just how much time to dry and sent me a notification though my LG ThinQ smart app when my clothes were done. This unit is by far next level. If you are a skeptic like me, trust me this made me a believer 1000%. Thanks again LG for your futuristic technology making my life just that much easier

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We needed a new washer, as our old LG washer was giving up the ghost, it would consistently give the dreaded IE error, and would not finish a load. We’ve never had a dryer, so we’ve always either hung the wash out on the clothes line, or on the drying rack. Clothes and especially towels would end up a bit rough. But on vacation we stayed where they had washers and dryers, and my wife loved how soft things ended up. So when we got home and our washer refused to finish a load, I researched washers, but especially washer/dryer combos. It seemed that there were basically 3 or 4 manufacturers that made them, and they all use a small heat pump to dry the clothes. Reading reviews on numerous sites, it became apparent that there were issues with lint clogging up the condensers, and looking at the actual lint filters on each machine it was easy to see why. Most of them used a slide in, slide out filter that really did not completely block the passage of lint, letting lint get by the filter and clogging up the condenser fins. I saw some owners trying to use a rubber gasket around the filter to block the passage of lint, but with very limited success, and the gasket would quickly be damaged by the plastic filter sliding in and out on it, so it would likely lose its effectiveness. Others would have to call for an expensive service call to come and disassemble the top of the machine to get at the condenser to clean it. And the process of removing the lint from the condenser fins was a difficult job at best, involving taking much of the top of the machine apart to get at the fins, and then running the risk of damaging the fins in the process of removing the lint from them. None of these options are ideal. But the lint filter in the LG washer/dryer combo was different. Instead of a slide in, slide out rack, it has a 2 stage filter on the top of the machine that snaps in and out, with no spaces around it to allow lint to get around the filter, and end up clogging up the condenser fins. And the filter has 2 stages. The main filter that you pop out and clean after each wash, is the first line of defense, and the second stage is easy to keep an eye on, so you can snap that out to clean in case any lint gets by the main filter. Then between the filter and the condenser fins there is a small screen that you can pop out by removing one screw to remove it, then allowing easy access to vacuum off the condenser fins with a soft vacuuming brush to remove any possible lint that might conceivably get by the 2 filters. I think this is a much better lint filter system that the others. And that is why we bought the LG washer/dryer combo. So far it has worked very well. Yes, using it is a bit different than using a typical separate washer and dryer. We bought 6 wool dryer balls that help any dryer do better, including this one. We have found that it typically takes about 2 1/2 hours to do a wash and dry load, depending on what we are washing and drying. At first that sounds like a long time, but consider: that time involves washing and drying. I’m not sure how long washing and drying using 2 separate machines takes, as in the past, we’ve only used a washer, no dryer. But I’d be willing to guess that most separate washing, then switching the laundry to drying probably takes about the same amount of time as this one does, without our having to switch the laundry from one machine to the other. And as I said, using a washer/dryer combo machine is a bit different process than 2 separate stand alone machines. We were careful to read the user manual and follow LG’s guidance for what will work best. We use a small amount of HE liquid laundry detergent. We personally decided to not use the detergent dispenser, it’s just another thing we’d have to periodically clean, so we just place a small capful of detergent in each wash load. And because we have our own septic system, we don’t use bleach, and we don’t use dryer sheets. We use wool dryer balls to help the dryer do a good job. We separate our wash loads by type of laundry load. We clean the lint filter after each load. We leave the door open between loads to let it dry out and help prevent any mildew or musty smells. But that’s about it. It’s not difficult, it’s actually pretty easy, it’s maybe just different than what we might have been used to. But so far, we like it, my wife loves how soft everything comes out.

I had the prior model of this combo for 10 years and loved it and never had a service call! I purchased this as a replacement and the design has several improvements over the old model and has a larger capacity. I do not dry everything but the things I do dry do not shrink. Had a little learning curve for the settings from my old machine with less intelligence, but once you experiment you see the organization logic and the tiered selection options. Read the book! Didnt think I would like the auto detergent, softener because I prefer a lower amount dispensed, but was delighted you can set it for reg, more or less. Instead of fabric softener I have Lysol laundry disinfectant in my auto softener area, and there is another space to manually add bleach or bleach alternative. The timer often estimates more time than actually needed for the drying part of the operation, so I count that as the maximum time. I check it earlier if i want to make sure it doesnt run longer than necessary, but it often stops automatically earlier than the estimate when the sensor tells it to. So, mainly i put the stuff in, turn it on, it comes up to my usual setting. I review options and i press start then come back for the finished product. Every once in a while I load more detergent. I am not one to use the dryer to fluff up or refresh laundry. The method of drying is not the same as a standard hot air dryer so would not be as useful for fluffing. It warms the clothes but does not feel like it burns them with hot air so my dog still loves to burrow into the warm laundry. Just hope its internal brain lasts 10 years or more. Get the matching pedestal if you dont like to bend over too far. It raises it to a comfortable height for front loading.

Overall… I like the combination washer/dryer… Likes: easy to use, great looking unit. Cleaned well .. worked very well with the ThinQ app. Kept me informed at all times and told me when it was done. Concerns: kept the clothing a little damp but have happened with my prior dryer as well.  Tangled up clothes a little but after separating  .. dried for a short time and it was fine. No vent needed was a great feature
