I buy salmon often from Sams and was excited to see the wild caught sockeye. I purchased what looked like a good fish and brought it home. Could not figure out what smelled dead in my fridge and checked the fish multiple times, it looked good, the package wasnt swelling, and I couldnt smell anything through the package. So I just opened it up to brine and it smelled spoiled and the flesh was soft and pasty. So I just threw out $32 worth of fish because I didnt trust it. Use by date is 9/16/25 and today is 9/14/25.

I purchased this Salmon, the most expensive (35$ the package) at 11.98$/lb, if I recall correctly, and when I got home and opened the package, the smell was horrific, could not stand it, it smelled like RED TIDE not fresh fish... the sell by was March 25, and I purchased it on March 24th. I tried to cut it to portion it , but with all my love for fish I could not stand it so I throw it away. I am very upset that I wasted so much money, and upset that such perishable product is not better controlled by Sams Club.

I bought 2 packs of this salmon with the expiration date still 3 days away. It was an extra $7 off per package, so it seemed like a great deal. Well, upon opening it, it smelled of decomposition, and the meat was, in fact, breaking down. I cooked a small piece in a pan, but it tasted just like it smelled. I ended up returning it, no questions asked. I'm not sure what was up with this, but it definitely makes me reconsider ever buying salmon that close to the expiration if that is the quality I'll get.
