Motion sensor lid defective

This is a sturdy, attractive stainless steel trash can. I didn't realize when I ordered that it came with a waste basket sized as well. Quite the bonus. Both have motion sensor lids. However the motion sensor on the large kitchen size can didn't work. I am still working on getting a replacement lid. The Nine Stars Group wrote back directing me to try a factory reset. That didn't do anything. Now I am waiting for them to send a replacement lid.

I thought it should perform a lot better than it did. I would put my hand over the top and it would not open. I had to push the buttons every time I wanted it to open and sometimes it would stay open and I would have to close it by hand
