Generac GP2200i Portable Generator

Decided to buy this generator in Aug, 2020 with using it for camping in mind, but due to COVID 19 have postponed camping. In November, 2020 we had a major ice storm in Edmond, OK and were without power for 5 1/2 days. This little generator was a real life saver. It helped us power several items at different times, i.e. refrigerator, coffee maker and television and allowed us to charge our phones, laptops, etc. It is amazing how God plants a thought into your mind and you act on it and everything works out as it should. Thanks, Generac for an excellent product. It started immediately and ran like a champ for the full 5 1/2 days. We will probably get another one for 2021 camping season.

IQ3500

Out of the box the IQ3500 i bought was leaking gas. Tried tightening the drain valve. Still leaking. Called Customer service and they were worthless. Told me I had to drive to a dealer one and a 1/2 hours away. Then told me they could not say this was under warranty even though was just out of the Box 2 weeks earlier. Decided to take it 15 minutes away to a small engine repair specialist. He found that the major gas line out of the tank was ripped. Cost me 60 bucks to get repaired. The customer service from these guys at Generac is absolutely worthless. I do not recommend Generac products on customer service alone.

Outstanding Value

I was shopping for a generator inverter to cover my basic needs in the event of interruptions or failure of our electrical grid locally as well as nationally, especially in the very uncertain times in which we live. I considered the top of the line units all the way down to the extremely basic. Generac covered all the bases for me. Generac has a long history manufacturing time proven dependable generators of nearly every kind. The GP2200i provides the minimums needed to efficiently run all the appliances I require to get by. Best yet for a top notch machine it does all this without breaking the bank. The only item I feel is lacking is perhaps a built in hour meter.

Amazing product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Powerful, Reliable, and Easy to Use! The iQ3800 Dual Fuel Generator has been a fantastic investment for our outdoor adventures and emergency backup needs. It’s incredibly easy to start with the push-button electric ignition, and the included battery means no extra purchases or setup headaches. I love the dual fuel option, giving us flexibility between gas and propane depending on the situation. The Economy Mode is a nice bonus — it helps reduce noise and saves fuel when we don’t need full power. The LED display is clear and helpful for monitoring fuel levels and output, and the COsense® safety feature gives us peace of mind, especially around the family. With sturdy wheels and a solid handle, it’s surprisingly portable for its power capacity. Whether it’s for tailgating, camping, or job site use, this generator checks all the boxes. Highly recommended!

Quiet and good price

Looked at other Generator/inverters and everyone talks about Honda being quiet and reliable. This model was easy to start following instructions and really quiet running. You can stand beside it and have a conversation without having to raise your voices. A nice surprise to me was Rona had a weekly sale on that was not posted at the shelf but was given at the checkout.

Lasted 3 years

I estimate I got a little over 1200 hours of use before the 120V port to the inverter fried rendering the otherwise perfectly running and maintained generator useless and shortened my already expensive camping trip. When I explained the issue to customer service, I was told I needed the control panel so I ordered it. While waiting a month for that part ($150) ordered an identical unit as my backup thinking running in parallel could be handy at some point. The control panel came and I found out it wasn't the part I needed. I looked for the inverter part and was amazed that the replacement inverter costs more than the whole unit cost me to replace. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have replaced it with something else.

Get what you pay for

Definitely not the cheapest, but it'll be worth the money in the long run. All features are as advertised, quiet, powerful, LCD screen provides very useful information. Parallel kit to use two at once works perfect as well. Would recommend to anyone. However, NO WHEELS. Being an inverter generator, this is heavy. So I was surprised when I could not find a wheel attachment for this. It would make moving around so much easier.

Outstanding generator.

I spent 3 months researching generators for my RV. I chose the Generac IQ3500 after carefully comparing all brands. This is the RIGHT CHOICE!! Outstanding generator. Very well constructed and solid. SUPER, SUPER QUIET. Easily runs my entire RV with AC. Easy to operate. The IQ3500 is defiantly the "top of the line". I highly recommend this generator.

Super quiet!

Bought this portable for my camper as a backup and for state parks where there isn’t any electrical hookups. Went with Generac because i also have a 17KW on my home. Excellent brand! I was surprised by how quiet this guy is. You walk 10 feet and it is like its barely audible. I recommended it to my friend who was looking for one. He bought the same model (iq 3500) and he is also thrilled! I can highly recommend this generator for performance, affordability and looks.

Very Impressed

I don't like giving 5's but a 4 ("Good") didn't seem like enough. 4.5 is where I'd like to be. Let me start by saying I've never owned a generator, but we wanted one that could get us through an extended power outage and could be used to run a few power tools in a remote location. I probably didn't need a 3500 but I'm sick of going small and regretting not getting the bigger one, so I went with the iQ3500. First all the things I like. The generator looks great (I know that doesn't matter, but trust me, it does), and it feels like a tank. After I filled it with gas and oil, I went to start it. It's got an electric start but I wanted to see how the cord start felt. I pulled the cord out super slow to see how long the recoil would be and it started! Seriously, I barely pulled the cord and it started first try. The next thing I noticed is how crazy quiet it is! And when you put it on Eco mode, you could have it in the middle of a tailgate and people would tell you to turn own the music before they told you to turn off the generator. I used it to power up my table saw, drill, shop vac (not same time), which were no problem, and of course plugging in lots of low pull items like a radio, fan, etc. is nothing for this thing. Now the thing I don't like: I mentioned it is built like a tank....well, it's as heavy as one too. To call it portable is a stretch. My wife and I can move it around, but we wouldn't want to carry it too far. Either it needs to be made with wheels or some sort of cart should be an add-on. But that's the only bad thing I've found so far. Really impressed with this, and it's a U.S. company too!
