These trash cans are exactally what i was looking for. The 13 gal. can is a nice size for my kitchen and i use the smaller one in my bathroom. They work just as they are described. Wave your hand across the sensor and the lid opens, walk away, and a short time later the lid closes automatacally. This is a great buy.

Bought this item simply because of the fact that I wouldn't have to touch the trash can for it to open. Got it home, installed the batteries, waved my hand and it DID NOT open. The open/close button works only if the switch is powered on. The trash can has to be directly under bright light for the sensor to pick up motion. I have a brightly lightened kitchen but unless I want the trash can to sit directly in the middle of the floor, I will continue to use the manual open/close button. Other than that, it looks great.

Let me first say that I do not typically write reviews. They tend to be unhelpful because some people write a review when they get home and open the box. When I read a review, I do not care how your package was damaged. That is a truck delivery issue and not a product review. I also do not like reviews that say whether or not the product is great after 2 hours of receiving it. Big deal. My reason for buying a product is: over time, how does it hold up? Saying all that, my family loves the touchless trashcans, especially the larger model. In the kitchen, we are frequently with dirty hands or messy from mixing eggs, wiping runny kids noses, etc. How freeing to only move your hand in front of the sensor so we don't have to touch the trash can. The ONLY downside I would see, and this is just an FYI, is that we need to remember not to move our hands away from the sensor when dumping several things into the can. The can closes on you while you are dumping. But, no matter, it is not heavy. It opens right up. I purchased the cans in August 2014 and have not replaced the batteries in either model. We are thankful for this product.

Bathroom one is great. Kitechen on is great EXCEPT for one problem with the sensor. I put the kitchen one in the only place it can go, but it's a high traffic area. The can opens every time someone walk by. I read the reviews before purchasing these and didn't see this issue with anyone else. I may return them.

We bought the Nine Stars no-touch trash can like this two years ago. It has a silver exterior and runs on 4 "D" batteries, so it is slightly different than the one shown here that has a black exterior and runs on "C" batteries. We love our trash can and people who see it in our home are always exclaiming that they want one like it. It has also lasted remarkably well; we are still on the first set of batteries even though they are 2 years old. So we bought this newer model (black exterior/C batteries) when we saw it on sale for under $40 because we knew we would find someone to give it to. We haven't given it yet to our planned giftee, but we set it up and it seems to be operating as efficiently as our model. The silver exterior on our model is slightly more appealing to our taste, but the black exterior is fairly sleek as well. We shall find out if the "C"battery-operated model is as durable as our "D" battery-operated model. We haven't tried the soap pump yet.

Easy to clean. Looks great in the kitchen. Battery lasts a long time. I always get compliments on how great it looks. The only con is you have to be very close enough to the sensor or just press the button, but not a big deal. Had it for over a year. Changed battery only twice.

I like the looks of the trash can. It is a very "sleek" design. It works perfectly. My only drawback, which is really not due to the product itself, is that sometimes when I walk past it, the lid will open to receive trash. However, that is because where I have to place it in my kitchen. I love it, though.

This can worked great as a diaper pail and I had recommended to family members but today the large can lid started making a strange grinding noise. It will not respond to the sensor. The lights are working but the lid seems to be stuck closed. So disappointed. The little can was terrible out of the box.

I really love the 13 gallon touchless trash can - when you approach closely or hold your trash close to it, it opens very quickly and then closes quickly once the senor detects no more movement. The silver finish is attractive and so this can is suitable to have in any room of the house. I note it can be used to collect recycling as wello. The smaller can is quite small and more suited to a place where a trash can isn't often needed. This could be used for compost which would be very handy when your hands are full of peelings, etc. It's a bit too large in my opinion for a kitchen counter but it's small profile could have it close to the cupboard doors by the sink on the floor. Very happy with this purchase and do recommend it. Note the larger can uses 3 C size batteries and the smaller one uses 2 D size batteries.

We must have a ghost in the house. The can lid opens and closes when no one is even in the kitchen. It must be a ghost...because I know my kids aren't throwing away their trash. Changed the batteries, but it still has a mind of it's own. Can be very annoying to be in a different room and hearing the lid opening and closing continuously---my kids were freaked out by it at first.
