I bought the larger trash can from Costco about eight years ago for about $50. We love it and we have not had to replace anything but the batteries. My family liked it so much they all bought one. The 13 gallon bags fits nicely and it is slim enough not to be intrusive. When the average stainless steel can cost $50 and above why not by this one and not have to touch the can. For me this was a great buy!

I am 62 years old. i got tired of buying the cheap plastic cans at Lowes, etc. i found myself buying about 3 per year at $25 per pop. bc they tear up so often. Buy the nine stars trash can. Been using it now for 1 and a half years. Love it! Still using same batteries after 1.5 years. The liner works great! The trash can looks brand new on the inside after a year and a half of use in a family of five. Will never buy the plastic crap again. Do not hesitate to buy this trash can. You will never regret it. I'd give it 10 stars if it were an option.

We purchased this set about a month ago, and we are already having issues with the sensor in the large can. It has basically stopped working. I have changed the batteries, bought different new batteries in case the ones that I had at home were defective, and nothing has improved the situation. The light is blinking, but nothing happens when you move your hand over the sensor. There is a small handle on the top so you can open it manually, but that isn't really convenient and obviously I was looking for a product that didn't require me touching the garbage can lid every time I want to throw something away. I am trying to contact the manufacturer to see if I can get a replacement under the 1 year warranty, but I'm not feeling optimistic about a good resolution. On the plus side - if it HAD worked well, it would have been perfect. It fits well in the space where we wanted it and doesn't smudge easily.

Super pleased with this purchase and the quality is awesome. I've been pricing stainless steel trash cans for awhile and this Ninestar product is by far the best I've found. The small trash can which is also automatic is just as a nice as the larger one. You'll need 3 C and 2 D batteries for the trash cans. For the price it's like getting the small one for free and it came with 7 13 gallon trash bags which are Way better than I imagined.

I had the large one years ago and after a few years it wouldn't work anymore.. When I ordered this time was hoping it was different. It is the same can. Top is heavy for removal of bag but does keep the bag from falling in when heavy items are placed in it. The reason I don't give it 5 stars : Small opening hard to keep the side areas clean when dumping trash.

This product was good for about 5 months. Then the lid began to malfunction, constantly opening without any inputs. After communicating with Nine Stars for about a month, I returned the lid at my own expense. They cannot be reached by email or phone and have not even returned my defective lid. Stay away from this company and their products.

These are attractive and seem to work good. They are VERY sensitive, almost too sensitive. I was disappointed as I planned to use the small can under my sink but the lid remains activated and won't close. Plan on at least 6-8 inches of space above the can for it to work properly.

Let me first say that I do not typically write reviews. They tend to be unhelpful because some people write a review when they get home and open the box. When I read a review, I do not care how your package was damaged. That is a truck delivery issue and not a product review. I also do not like reviews that say whether or not the product is great after 2 hours of receiving it. Big deal. My reason for buying a product is: over time, how does it hold up? Saying all that, my family loves the touchless trashcans, especially the larger model. In the kitchen, we are frequently with dirty hands or messy from mixing eggs, wiping runny kids noses, etc. How freeing to only move your hand in front of the sensor so we don't have to touch the trash can. The ONLY downside I would see, and this is just an FYI, is that we need to remember not to move our hands away from the sensor when dumping several things into the can. The can closes on you while you are dumping. But, no matter, it is not heavy. It opens right up. I purchased the cans in August 2014 and have not replaced the batteries in either model. We are thankful for this product.

I used one in the kitchen and the other one next to the cat litter box. I have had the set for years. The kitchen lid finally began to get tired after all this time. I tried to go with a different type.... I couldn't take it!! I have to buy another set. I miss them. They have always worked well. The lid does a good job opening when I need it to open but stays closed for my dog. The stainless steel was good quality, cleaned up easily with Meyers or water and vinegar. It didn't leave a bunch of finger prints the second you looked at it. I'm very happy to find a replacement!

After having for roughly two months, the small bathroom trash can, has started to rust along the front, from steamy shower. 3 weeks ago the lifting part of the lid broke. While I was wiping it down. Seems like ok quality. When recieved In the long run. Its crappy and pointless purchase. Now I am on the hunt for a new set
