Product met expectations, however it was installed at top of stairs with spindal posts, we zip tied one side due to the feeling if the baby pushed hard enough it would eventually give. Door opening is also a bit snug when carrying the child in one arm.

The older version was better

I had the older version to corral my lab mix dog. He eventually wore the lock out through brute strength and broke the hinge, so I bought a new one to replace it. It's more complicated to open for the humans (he hasn't figured it out yet) and only opens one direction, not two like the older version did.

Regalo - Easy Step Extra Tall Walk-Thru Metal Gate

If you need to keep a dog from not going up stairs or block a very young child. This is a great gate as it was very easy to setup, is easy for older children in the same home to operate and keeps your dogs downstairs! AND it does not permanently damage your walls! Love this gate!

great product for pets

This is an excellent way to keep pets out of specific areas in your home. We have tile in the kitchen and hallway areas in our home and during the winter months the dogs will need to stay indoors more often. One entry way has a pocket door that closes off the kitchen from the rest of the house, the other was an open entry. The gate is great!! It fits perfectly and the swinging door is essential when we are home. The height is another plus with this gate. Well worth the money and peace of mind.

Exactly What I Needed

I bought these gates to place in doorways to keep my two cats from entering rooms that I wanted to keep "kitty-free". They are working great. The gate is high enough to deter them from trying to jump over and the bars are spaced close enough to prevent them from sliding between (which was a concern before my purchase). I am now able to keep all rooms of my home well-ventilated and open to sunlight since I no longer have to keep doors closed. Since I am only trying to keep cats out (not toddlers or large dogs), I did not use the screw-in door frame mounts. I only needed to use the pressure rods alone and it is very secure in the doorway. The easy-open gate is very convenient, and though the opening is fairly narrow, it is plenty wide enough to pass through easily. I think the gates are an excellent value of the money spent. I haven't found anything even close to comparable for the same price (or even higher priced). I highly recommend this product and hope this review is helpful to a prospective buyer.

Bigger then expected!

I bought this gate because it was over sized in height, little did I know it was over sized in width as well. It didn't fit in the doorway that we intended to put it in. It said the largest it would get but failed to mention the smallest. The latch doesn't seem very sturdy either. It also came with a dent in the bottom so that it sits a little crooked, it does the proper job though.

wonderful product

This is a wonderful gate for dogs who jump high- it seems to keep them contained- We just love it. However if you are a bigger person you might want to get something eles- The gate door entrance is aprox 2 to 3 feet wide. & if you have lil bitty puppys they can get through the bars-just make sure your puppy is over 4 to 5pds- it will work perfect & you wont be disappointed-

Regalo - Easy Step Extra Tall Walk-Thru Metal Gate

This gate is the BEST product on the market! My husband and I recently acquired a rescue dog with severe separation anxiety issues. We wanted to be able to leave him in our laundry room when we had to be out of the house for a few hours. We purchased a child/dog plastic gate and he simply jumped over it. We raised it up a couple of inches off the floor and he climbed up the diamond shaped plastic designs in the gate - therefore, we purchased a taller wooden gate. Well, he ate and clawed away at the wooden gate. We even combined the two gates (one above the other) and he clawed and chewed his way through the duct tape-repaired wooden gate. At last we found the Regalo - Easy Step Extra Tall Walk-Thru Metal Gate and our prayers have been answered. He can't do ANY harm to this gate and it works perfectly!!! Now we are all happy. I sure wish I had found this gate in the first place! JCP - Rhode Island

Regalo Gate

We purchased gate to keep 3 cats out of bedroom and 1 dog (cocker spaniel) inside of bedroom. (Cats aren't crazy about the dog). We've only had the gate for a little more than a week. It was easy to assemble, according to boyfriend, and appears to be fairly sturdy, although it has begun to squeak after only 10 days. We can't put screws into the door frame (we live in a co-op), so we put double-sided sticky tape on the door frame. This has made the gate less likely to dislodge from the frame. So far, none of the cats or dog have attempted to knock it over or jump over gate. The bars are close enough so that none of the cats; including the smallest cat can squeeze through. It is easy to open and since there are no small children in the home, locking the gate is not necessary, making it very easy to operate with one hand. My only suggestion would be for the gate to swing shut. It does reduce the amount of space to walk through, but so far this has not been a problem.

If i could give this a half a star i would. We just received our gate today. We followed all the directions on assembly. Unfortunately, the steel or metal that the manufacturer uses to make this gate is of very very poor quality. The metal was bent out to the side even with the alignment screws in place. Because the metal was bent, the lock wouldnt even line up with the other side of the gate. And thats the other problem. It may have been missing the piece on the other side of the gate because there was nothing for the lock to lock on to. I am very very displeased with this gate
