It's pretty heavy (I guess "lightweight" is relative to other generators) and louder than I expected. But it seems to work well so far (still doing the break-in). I tested the noise level with a decibel meter on my phone with no loads on and it was 77 dBa from 10 ft away and 70 dBa from about 50 ft away. This was without eco mode on though - so as I understand it, at full rpm (but no loads yet). When I put some load on, it got louder. I'll have to test with eco mode on. I wish they would publish decibel ratings for load levels other than just 25% (what I got is well higher than 52 dBa). I like the digital display including hour meter, fuel estimates and power output being used.

AFTER MUCH RESEARCH AND MANY REVIEWS, I CHOOSE THE WESTINGHOUSE IGEN2500 AND IT IS BETTER THAN EXPECTED. THE UNIT IS STURDY AND SEEMS TO BE WELL BUILT. IT STARTS EASILY AND IS QUIET ENOUGH TO HAVE A NORMAL CONVERSATION NEXT TO IT. I HAVE USED OTHER GENERATORS THAT WERE SO LOUD YOU HAD TO GO TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE YARD TO TALK. IT IS RELATIVELY LIGHT WEIGHT AND EASY TO MOVE. IT IS ALSO POWERFUL ENOUGH TO RUN THE NECESSARY APPLIANCES DURING A POWER OUTAGE.

Used this on a few camping trips so far and it has been nothing but excellent. I do recommend you change the oil 4 times during the break in period so it is clean of metal shavings and set for a long run life. Super quite and sips on gas. starts on every first pull after break in period and me and my wife just love it.

I bought this unit to deal with frequent grid power outages in our area. I only need to run some of the priority items in the house, like the fridge, freezer, H/W blower fan, furnace fan, etc. It handles all of those with ease and is very quiet - can barely hear a low hum in the house. The digital display is great to provide hours and fuel left, power being consumed, and lifetime runtime.

One initial little problem. I removed the cover to put the oil in, and a retaining slip ring simply fell out! The retaining ring (or washer) is supposed to protect the cover screws from falling out. I replaced it with one that I had that fit better and will not fall out. So, that was a rough into, and I hoped nothing else was wrong. I was actually surprised that it started on the very first half-hearted pull. I didn't even pull hard and it started right up. Now on the big test. I purchased the iGen2500 hoping it could handle the load of my 10,000btu marine air conditioner. And it did! I noticed that voltage dropped to around 95 or 100v just for a sec during initial compressor cranking, but it did not trip! Tried with eco on and off, and it did not trip. turned on my wife's double fan and did it again...did not trip! The boat air conditioner runs just fine with this generator. Wish it had a little bigger gas tank, but the one it has is adequate. Quiet running...might be a bit louder that the smaller Honda, but certainly acceptable given the fact that the iGen2500 is substantially more powerful. The status LED's are a nice feature...can see relative fuel and load from a distance. Can't do that with most other models. So, overall, I am very pleased and aside from the initial washer problem, and my preference for a larger fuel tank, I am delighted. I did my research, and it seems to me that there is a good warranty/service program available should I ever need it. I rate this 4 1/2 stars....If I had to do it over, would not hesitate to purchase again.

Bought this as a backup for my house when the power goes down to power the refrigerator mostly. Also may use it on my boat to charge batteries. Runs quietly and seems to do the job. When you start it for the first time, it will take a number of pulls to get it to start as apparently you need to get gasoline thru the carburetor. Then it starts easily with one pull after that.

Added oil and fuel. Turned the switch to choke start, pulled the recoil starter 3 times. Started right up. Moved the switch to run. After about 15 seconds ideal smoothed out. Proceeded with break in process by using the generator to run a small heater, which used 1,100 watts or 1/2 load for the generator. Ran for about an hour. WIll continue with the break in process. I'm very please with this little quite generator. Well made and quite.

Bought in advance of tropical storm Isaias, and glad I did. Arrived in perfect condition. After unpacking and filling with the supplied oil and some stabilized gasoline, tested with a small load. No issues with the test. Two days later, we lost power for about 4 hours. The iGen2500 performed flawlessly, powering our large refrigerator, a coupls of fans, our cable modem, our wifi hub, and a large television. Impressively quiet.

I have used a Honda 2000 and 2200i for over 20 years for camping. I needed a new super quiet generator because I was having problems with the 2200i running the electronics like the camper microwave. I saw spectacular reviews on line for the Westinghouse iGen2500. I am really thrilled with the performance! It started on one pull and ran as quiet or almost as quiet as my 2200, but responds more quickly to power surges and runs everything I need including hair driers, microwaves and even AC units. With this unit I get more power at a better price for a product I consider to be as good. This product is GREAT! I highly recommend.

Needed emergency electrical power due to wildfire and electrical outage and after reviewing other generators we decided on this Westinghouse Igen2500. Great value considering price/performance and 3 year warranty. Delivered timely with no damage as it was well packaged. Included was oil, tool kit, funnel, and user manual(s). Setup was easy and the generator started on the 2nd pull. Sound was acceptable. All works as advertised. Very pleased.
