Ultra quiet

Great little generator. Runs smooth and quiet. Control panel is easy to read and very helpful, let's you know clearly how much power your using. Very portable. Thinking about getting another one to run in parallel. There are advantages to having two smaller generators versus one big. Recommend.

4 Stars... For now

Received and after a moderate break-in with a couple oil changes, immediately put to use. Ran Lucas Safeguard Ethanol Fuel treatment. Initial quality is there and I was happy that it started and ran my 13.5 BTU A/C on our first outing. Just barely though. And there were a couple instances where the breaker did trip between A/C compressor cycles. That said, it was an incredibly hot weekend! I also had some trouble restarting between fuel changes and general rest periods that I would give it. Seemed heat related. Also, oil had to be added after approximately 15 hours of first, hard Use which I would consider normal. There also were periods of rough running, hence the initial 4 Stars. Quiet as advertised and besides a couple concerns, I think if we'll maintained, this will be a great unit, particularly with a second in parallel!

Second pull out of the box

Unpacking it took longer than filling with oil and gasoline and starting. It fired up on the second pull. I bought it for a variety of power tools but mainly to power the 13,500 BTU AC on my Oliver Elite travel trailer. I'd already installed a Micro-Air EasyStart soft start unit on the AC with plans to buy one of those red generators or the other blue one, which produce less power, cost more and have fewer features than the Westinghouse. The EasyStart was needed for those less-powerful units. But then I learned about the iGen2500 on the Micro-Air website. Micro-Air says the iGen25000 will power ACs up to 15,000 BTU with the EasyStart. So maybe it will run my 13,500 in the Efficiency Mode. My trailer is stored elsewhere so I haven't tried it yet. But so far so good. The iGen2500 looks like a well-made generator. I really like the LCD display. I just wish it showed total run hours to help with maintenance.

Great liitle unit at a great price.

Having used a Honda for a while I can say this IGEN2500 is not that much louder and a lot more powerful. Unit started on first pull. Overall very happy with the build quality and purchase. Looking forward to using it in the Grand Tetons this summer. Btw the Honda was shared between two brothers so I decided to get myself my own and went with the Westinghouse iGEN2500. We all agree it's a nice and quite unit!

Very simple to start easy maintance and very reliable.

This gen 2500 watts is awesome and is what I needed. Its very light to carry and it turns on my refrigerator fans and charges my phone with no problem. Very good on gas and las alot. I took this gen to my parents in Puerto Rico and they are super satisfied and happy with the product. Thank you Westinghouse for the support and the customer service is very helpful.

Very well built and not too big or expensive

I totally over-researched portable inverter generators before finally settling on the iGen2500. I wanted something to have on hand for our next power outage and a portable inverter unit fit the bill nicely. Setup was a breeze with everything included in the box except for a standard Philips screw driver. The setup sheet and manual are clear and easy to understand. The unit is small and light enough to easily store on a shelf in the garage. I don't have much to compare it to, but the iGen2500 is pretty quiet. The design is clever with an easily-removable side panel to access the oil fill/drain and fuel bowls. As I don't anticipate using the iGen a whole lot, I really like that the fuel system includes a bowl drain and hose to quickly and easily prepare the unit for a return to storage. One of the features that helped me settle on the iGen2500 was the ability to run in parallel mode with another iGen if I ever need it. Westinghouse's parallel cord setup seems simpler and easier to use than others and provides the standard home 120v style outlets a homeowner would need. While not looking forward to it, I finally feel confident and ready for the next time we lose power.

The quality is surprisingly high like a Honda or Yamaha.

The output is great compared to the weaker 1600 watt generators. I drilled a small hole for the carb drain hose to exit the side panel and another to open the drain screw, without needing to open the cover every time you store it. I think the easily scratched plastic would be better if it was a high gloss finish like Motorcycle plastics.

My first generator

Just bought this model mainly because of other reviews. Read directions added oil that was provided, filled it with gas turn on the unit and adjusted the control to choke. Pulled the cord three times motor started up. I was surprised that it really isn’t that loud. I hooked up an outdoor heater to it, which draws 500watts then 1000 watts and finally 1500watts the generator reved up then leveled out at each stage. Still was quieter than most others I have heard! Simple to use, light weight and relatively quiet.

Easy start, low dB

I bought this a month ago and we are going to use it camping for the first time. It replaces a comparable model from a different maker of lower comparable cost. I like the upgraded display and weather resistant covers, but the 2500 model has a gas tank that it .5 gal less than the 2200 model.. Other than less fuel capacity, it seems solid and lighter than its predecessor of a comparable make/model. The oil was added and a little bit of fuel and the generator started on the first pull with choke on. We look forward utilizing the generator for multiple days as it runs at at lower decibels, comparable to much more expensive competitors that do not offer as much power.

Great Features

I bought this one week ago and have tested it under load up to 1,700 watts and it performed flawlessly. Start up was immediate, first pull. Operation was quite. All digital display panel functions worked nicely. Love the gas gauge. Included oil funnel and spark plug removal tool and screwdriver. Very easy to setup and run. Side cover is easy to remove to gain access to carburetor.
