Low cost Gen option

Got instant savings at sc making it worth it. Using for running some appliance and electronics during sporadic power outages And as a tailgate generator to run tv stereo charge electronics and a number of small cooking appliances. Just realize that at the full 2500 and 15 amps you will need some heavy duty ($$$) extension cords especially if you need more than 50 feet. Also suggest buying a quart of full syn oil that will max your operating temp range. Too soon to have anything to say about longevity and reliability

So far so good

First time using any generator so not much to compare to but seems to run very well and isn't too loud by my amateur observations. Have yet to put any load on it as I'm currently breaking it in, but will report back if I have any issues. Not too heavy to lift, even when full of fuel.

Satisfied Customer

I bought this 6 months ago for just incase I needed it. Hurricane Ida left many in LA without power for many days and weeks. My generator performed flawlessly and powered my refridgerator, 2 fans, TV and DVD for 3 days running 10 hrs on a full tank of gas as advertised. Gas was extremely hard to find for a few weeks after storm so I was spared having to use what gas I had looking for more. I am well pleased with my purchase.

Good small RV generator - about 300 hours

Good generator. easy maintenance. Oil changes require either tipping unit or use of a suction device. Spark plugs, draining carb, spark arrestor cleaning is all straightforward. Will run a 30A RV (single AC); stuggles a little (and sometimes trips out) when the AC kicks on but that is fixable by adding a soft start to the AC unit. One gallon tank is somewhat limiting, but OK as long as the AC doesn't run much at night. Much easier than hauling a larger unit and worth a few extra fillups.

Works good.

Generator works fine. easy to start. Heavy and louder than expected but still worth it , I bought two. Don't bother with filling out Westinghouse propaganda promo to get your info for free cover. They never send and say it on back order ever time you call to check back.

Sending it back.

First impressions, right out of the box, can be misleading. I left a 4 star review before firing it up. When getting ready to break it in, I first checked the spark plug, due to many reviewers stating theirs had broken, or damaged spark plugs from the factory. Mine, too, was broken! This is not "shipping" damage, it is assembly line damage. Unacceptable lack of quality control. I installed a quality Denso spark plug, filled the engine with oil, and it started up on the first pull. Nice. During the first 8 hours of break in, 3 additional issues surfaced: 1)- an intermittent rattle sound while NOT under load, coming from the area behind the control panel. 2)- inaccurate fuel level information. The fuel level graph, the liters in the tank, and the remaining run time could not agree. After everything said zero fuel/runtime, the machine ran another 45 minutes. 3)- the engine never ran entirely smoothly. Whether loaded or not, it always sputtered some. Not confidence inspiring. I called Westinghouse support, and they suggested I exchange it through Sam's Club. I agreed, and hope that the replacement unit will fully meet my expectations. I will post another review on the new one. I would only recommend this generator to a friend at the sale price, and if they were willing to spend a little time sorting out any problems. For the sake of the Yes or No question, I must say No. If I can get back in to edit this review I will add photos, but right now they won't attach.

So Far, So Good

So far, so good. I received my new iGen2500, took it out of the box, added the oil and some gasoline, and it started on the third pull. The side cover was a little tough to get off the first time in order to add the oil, but I was being very cautious so as to not accidentally break anything; the rubber grommets are a bit tight when new. There are many on-line reviews that advise changing the oil after a short break-in period. This made sense to me, so after running it lightly loaded for about an hour (with an occasional 1 kW hair dryer for a few minutes at a time, just to exercise things), I changed the oil. The oil was fairly clean and there was no debris (metal particles) that I could see. Seeing this result was good news. I'm hopeful that the manufacturing processes and/or quality control have improved to eliminate some of the early wear that other users have experienced.

Super I/GEN

I purchased this I/GEN because I wanted one lighter than my old regular generator with the same wattage. I got it, put the oil in, put some fuel in and it started on the second or third pull. Checked everything out and it was A O/K. Plugged up some of my equipment and tried it out. It ran just fine. I ran it about 1 1/2 hours, cut it off for about 30 minutes then started it again with no problem. I ran it a while longer and cut it off. I am thoroughly pleased with it. Great buy as far as I am concerned.

Perfect for Needs

Bought this generator for specific reasons. Using it to run window air conditioner or space heater in the home and the air conditioner on my RV if we were to lose power. Can handle everything I've plugged in and then some. Extremely happy with purchase and recommend for anyone looking for emergency power. Plus it's light and can be hand carried.

Great Portable Generator

I upgraded from the iGen2200 so it will now safely power the 15000btu ac on the RV. Just like the first generator, I added oil and gas and it started with just a couple pulls on the rope. My friend with a red one was surprised how quiet it is and inexpensive it is. So am I!
