Bought two bags to take on vacation. Used within three days of purchase. Neither bag would even try to light. I had to go to the store and buy lighter fluid. Match light is false advertising. I can't believe all the reviews that say they had the same experience - wouldn't light.

We have used your Matchlight product for 15 years now. We have always loved this product. It lights quickly and has always left the food with a good flavor. I am having serious issues with this product this year. It will not stay hot long enough to fully cook our food. I keep having to put it in the oven to finish cooking. This has happened the last three times we have used it. It gets hot quickly, but isn't staying hot enough to even use up the charcoal. I am extremely disappointed in what we have found this year.We have made the decision to try one more time, and if it does the same thing, we will be finding another product. I think you all need to look into this issue

I am somewhat disappointed. I always bought Matchlight because all you had to do is touch a match to it and the bricquets would immediately light with a good steady flame, and they would be entirely gray and ready to cook over in about 10 to 15 minutes. Not any longer. Now I ave to either soak then with lighter fluid, or what I have been doing lately is use small squares of camphor to light the charcoal. And it take longer for them to completely light. Another formerly good product that someone messed with, probably to save money and cut production costs per unit. This is happening with a lot of consumer products these days. From here on out I will just get regular charcoal and use camphor to light it.

this use to be a good product it has gotten to the point were you still need lighter fluid or it will take forver to light and you forget about it to be ready in 10 minutes it takes 20 minutes just to light im going back to the old style with lighter fluid

My otherwise-perfect GF bought what she thought I specified: Kingsford. I buy this brand because it's consistent even though the grill is overflowing with "ash" (read: filler) after every cookout. This instant light stuff is the worst, though. Burns far too quickly and as an added bonus STINKS of lighter fluid! I'm going to start researching the Japanese charcoal (Binchotan) like I should've done years ago.

I was hosting a tailgate party at a New York Islanders game and used Kingsford Match Light charcoal. My #1 choice for charcoal when on the road! It's fast lighting and long burning characteristics are the reasons that I always choose Kingsford Match Light charcoal!!

I normally buy this brand and have been happy. The last 2 times I purchased was not so good. 1st time had to dump the grill and add more charcoal as it was having trouble lighting and staying lit. The last bag I purchased did not light at all. I had to go to 2 stores on July 4 to purchase additional charcoal to be able to cook for my family. I'm not sure whats going on or if the formula has change but you need to go back to the old way.

I grew up on Match Light-- my parents used it, I used it with my parents and when I was old enough, I used it. Now, EVERY TIME I buy it, it doesn't light. Why do I keep buying it? Never again. This Mother's Day, I promised my mom a BBQ so like a sucker I bought Match Light again and guess what, it DID NOT LIGHT. I was furious. I had to delay my Mother's Day BBQ and go to 3 different stores on Mother's Day to find another instant charcoal NOT made by Kingsford. I used the other brand's instant charcoal and it immediately lit! I feel so cheated by Kingsford with its so called guarantee and its useless product that was once the best. These last few years though, it has been more miss than hit (and not just for me apparently). What happened to you, Kingsford? Do you just not care about the quality of your product (or your customers) anymore? Happy Mother's Day. :-/

Now I consider myself and very good griller. I love using the regular Kingsford but trying to rush on two separate occasions I purchased Match light. I’ve used this in the last and it worked great but the last two times my fire just wouldn’t stay lit. I tried everything possible. I had to end up spending more money for new charcoal, removing my meat and restarting the fire with regular coals. I’m not sure if Kingsford has changed something about the MatchLight but it’s clearly not as good as it used to be. What a disappointment.

My boyfriend and I have tried using this product twice-the first time we both got extremely ill. Thinking it may have just been regular food poisoning we tried it again-and we both became extremely ill just from a few bites. Our food smelled and tasted like cigarettes. Overall, a terrible experience and we won’t be buying or using charcoal ever again.
