I bought a 11.6 lb of Match Light charcoal late July. I have bareIy used half of the 11.6 lb Match light charcoal. I got ready to light up my grill today Match Light would not light up. My food I had prepared for the grill had to be cooked in the oven. I tried holding a grill lighter over the pyramid of charcoal as directed on the package. Match Light would not light light after holding the grill lighter for a full two minutes. I did not have any lighter fluid I thought I was paying the price not to buy the lighter fluid. there should be a expiration date or warning that product may not work after a short period of time.

Used twelve pounds of this stuff over the weekend and it wouldn't light. It was so bad we had to light the actual bag to get the fire started. I'm really disappointed because a few years ago match light worked like a charm but in recent years I've come to suspect kingsford is cutting corners to make a poorer quality product.

I haven’t used charcoal in years because I had a gas grill. I don’t have a grill anymore and just wanted a “one time use” grill for a holiday. I bought an inexpensive Kingsford grill and match light charcoal at a dollar store. Cooked out and made burgers, hot dogs, and chicken. Everything cooked nicely and tasted great. Thanks!

I bought this a week ago and tried to light it. Immediately went up in flames and everything was great. Today had people over for dinner. Loaded in the briguettes, took out my lighter -----and nothing. None of the coals would catch fire. Had no lighter fuel since supposedly it wasn't needed for this extra expensive charcoal. Thanks for ruining my family get together!

This is how to start it, never have I had a problem starting this charcoal. Take a small mini propane tank (find at Walmart)with a torch that lights with a click of a button. Bam! that's it! Lights it and never have problems with it staying lit or going out!

We set up the charcoal in the grill. It lit beautifully but would not get hot. Even after 2 hours of burning it still was not hot. Had to dump the whole grill of charcoal and go to the store and get regular charcoal and lighting fluid and start all over again. Will not buy Kingsford again.

I just bought a bag of match light because the coals I started with by Kingsford didn't all burn and the meat I was cooking needed more time on the grill. I started with a clean grill and piled them, and went to light them and nothing happened. I tried many times if one lit it wouldn't spread, and would go out. Don't waste your money.

First off, I only use Matchlight for my grilling needs, however, the last two bags I purchased took entirely too long to light the briquettes. It took me nine minutes to light enough briquettes in my Webber JR grill to grill four hamburgers. Kingsford, you’re slipping, I am a loyal customer, but my patience is wearing thin. Get your act together.

I normally by the charcoal from Publix grocery store. When I first open the bag, it is great. One match will light it, but I use a lighter. As I get near the bottom of the bag, it is more difficult to light, but still usable. I just bought a bag from Walmart. It is horrible. I fought to light it the first time. Now I have to use a fluid to light it. I had a partial bag stored outside under the porch for 3 months that was easier to light. I guess Walmart buys tons of the stuff and leaves it in a warehouse for years before they sell it. Kingsford should not allow them to do this.

Bought two bags to take on vacation. Used within three days of purchase. Neither bag would even try to light. I had to go to the store and buy lighter fluid. Match light is false advertising. I can't believe all the reviews that say they had the same experience - wouldn't light.
