Fast lighting! Eat sooner!

I love the quickness of starting these! My husband is a caveman and must grill year round. I bought him these to reduce the amount of complaining about being out in the cold. He is pretty set in his ways and kicked about not using the traditional, but once he started them and was quickly cooking he still complained because they were not traditional!!! Then we ate.... He said, "They made traditional better". Now he is hooked!

Kingsford Matchlight doesn’t light instantly

Looking forward to having a cookout with the family. Decided to pay a little extra for the Kingsford insta light. Neither bag lit up. Very disappointed because I still had to go purchase lighter fluid and delay the party over an hour. I would have added the video of my multiple attempts, but I don’t want to create a YouTube channel just to show you the product doesn’t work. Quality control please!

Actually

I had written an earlier review prior to trying this product. I was responding to others negative comments and voicing worry that I made the wrong purchase. That being said I used the match light for my first grilling last night. All was well. It lit easily. The steaks tasted great. I would purchase match light again.

Awesome!

This is the only charcoal my husband will buy, many years ago he worked at the plant here in Missouri. It was such a messy job, but he liked it. We have this on hand at all times even through the winter, because you never know when the weather will be nice enough to grill some steaks. Thank you for an awesome product.

Great if You Want Solvent-Smelling Meat!

My otherwise-perfect GF bought what she thought I specified: Kingsford. I buy this brand because it's consistent even though the grill is overflowing with "ash" (read: filler) after every cookout. This instant light stuff is the worst, though. Burns far too quickly and as an added bonus STINKS of lighter fluid! I'm going to start researching the Japanese charcoal (Binchotan) like I should've done years ago.

What's up

My husband and I have purchased Matchlight for years. However, the current bag we purchased will not light. We have never had this happen even if the bag is old. Did you change the formula or is this a bad bag? We are taking it back to the store to see what they will do about it. Hopefully this is just a bad bag.

Won't light

We just bought 2 bags. We had used part of the one and was working fine. Now today just 1 day later it refuses to light. It wasn't left out in the open. We tried the other bag and it also won't light. We have used this for years. I guess it's like everything else Cheaper made to save money

The most common reasons for slow lighting, include lack of oxygen (make sure that you put the briquettes in a pyramid to assist with air circulation and make sure that all of the grill’s air vents are completely open during lighting). Also, windy or damp weather conditions can make it challenging for the charcoal to light, as well as the briquettes or the charcoal bag being damp. Lastly, waiting too long after placing the briquettes on the grill, will cause the lighter fluid on the briquettes to evaporate. Ruined our food!

I don't understand all the God reviews. This was the worst charcoal I have ever used. It didn't light as easily as it claimed and burned really unevenly. When it finally got going it burned to ash in less than 10 min. I barely got the mest cooked. When we went to eat the meat all tasted like lighter fluid!

Just Ok

I was expecting it to cook longer than it did because I use this charcoal every summer. This time I had to empty out and refill was so time consuming I only cooked hotdogs, sausages, and hamburgers. Normally I cook chicken, steak, and ribs. Maybe it was a bad bag.

Easy lighting

I love Kingsford charcoal! I've found for slow cooking you need the original. The match light is easy to start but is better when used for hot dogs,brats, and burgers. If Kingsford would make the bricks last as long as the orginal,, that would be awesome!
