I bought my WGen5300DFv generator after my 35 year old generator wouldn’t start. I like the Dual Fuel option because I’m able to use a propane tank on a building site instead of hauling gasoline and filling the tank. The generator is nicely packaged and easy to open prior to assembling the wheels and front legs. Very professionally made “User Manual” and instructions. This generator will provide all the electricity I need for my home when a power outage occurs. I’m very pleased with this product. Thanks.

I must have spent the better part of a week looking for a dual fuel generator around the 5,000-6,000 watt range before finding the WGEN5300DF. I wax exactly what I was looking for, right size, right price, dual fuel, well reviewed, trusted brand.....and literally out of stock EVERYWHERE! Just as I was on the verge of giving up, I stumbled across the WGEN5300DFV, almost by accident. It was then when the heavens opened up, angels began to sing, and I found what I was looking for. The two generator models are almost the same with the exception of the WGEN5300DFV is not electric start, and there is a little variance in output, but otherwise fairly close. So for a little less money I have no problem pulling a cord over pushing a button, not to mention having to maintain a battery. After unboxing then adding fuel and lube, I was ready to break this bad boy in. Started up first pull without even a stutter. During the break-in time there was some surging, but after adding fresh gas it went away. I haven't had a chance to run it with a load, but I'm sure it will work perfectly! PROS and CONS PROS: dual fuel, easy set up, user-friendly, surprisingly quiet for a non-inverter, wheel kit, oil, funnel, spark plug wrench, basically everything you need is included except for fuel and a box cutter, which is also literally printed on the top of the box. CONS: my con list is mostly just nit-picking stuff I noticed. First off its heavy, almost 150lbs, not too bad, but may be difficult for some. Second....the way its packaged may cause the alternator cover to be dented as shown in the pictures. I was expecting to see this after reading it on other reviews and I was not surprised to see it on mine Third....the oil drain is in a really awkward spot(also pictured) it drains directly onto a cross bar which is makes getting a container in the right a little difficult if you're picky about oil getting everywhere FINALLY....this is a little more than nit-picking, and more of a design flaw(IMHO) There are multiple places in the instructions that state to "TURN THE GENERATOR OFF BEFORE SWITCHING VOLTAGE BETWEEN 120V AND 240V" The problem here is that the On/Off switch is RIGHT NEXT to the 120v/240v switch! If you're not careful and paying attention, it will be VERY EASY to hit the wrong switch In conclusion(other than the switch issue) the Westinghouse WGen5300DFv is just about the perfect mid-sized, dual fuel generator for the price. It would be my first choice if I were to need another, and would definitely recommend it to a friend. In other words.....get you one!

I bought this a few months ago and when our power went out I was able to get it going and turn on all the necessity items in the house with no problem. For example my refrigerator my stove, and almost all lights in my house. Would be nice if it had a remote start feature.

Bought this generator to stay hurricane prepared and have been impressed ever since the first pull, which started it right away. This generator is surprisingly quiet and runs great on propane or gas. Currently have it hooked up to two large chest freezers without any issues. 10/10 would recommend!

4th Generator purchased for Hurricane Ida and the best one by far. Dual fuel feature and quietness of unit is far better than all 3 other units. Ease of assembly much better and oil access with screw on funnel fantastic and a lot less messy than others.

I just bought this but know I can't go wrong with Westinghouse. This unit has the best of both worlds involving fuels so I'm excited. I still have my Troy-Bilt 3550 but is 18 years and time for a quality replacement. I wanted a to up the wattage and the dual fuels give me more ability and easy. Don't need extra stress with these hurricanes. Of course was over due to replace the older propane tanks. I keep 8 30lb LPG and have retired all my 40 lb tanks. Getting age on me to so switching to dual fuel and 30lb tanks is a winner and believe me I have been doing this for 18 years.

Had been looking for months for a backup generator for our solar system. So far it is performing great. Right out of box put oil and gas in, cranked right up. Switched over to propane for the 1 hour run in, ran great and was surprised at small amount of fuel used. Was concerned about how it might run because we are at 8200 feet elevation. Did well under load. Have ordered high elevation kits. Really like the dual fuel aspect.

We haven’t needed to use it yet, but it was very easy to put the wheels and feet on. The owner’s manual gives a lot of information. One thing I wish was included was a packing list with amounts for each item. The manual said to verify we had all pieces, but it’s hard to verify if you’re not positive how many of each piece should be included.

I bought this generator in anticipation of a winter power outage. It is exactly as advertised. It will be practical because it uses both propane and gasoline. And its relatively small size is space efficient. We hope we will never have to use it, but feel secure in having it, just in case.

I love in Texas and the recurring power outages have been rough. With pets that require heaters in the winter and food items that need to be kept cold in the summer we need something to cover the times when power went out. This generator cannot power out home AC, but it absolutely can run all of our actual necessities when called for. The dual fuel option is great, dice I almost always have a half tank of gasoline and a couple of propane tanks in hand when needed. Highly recommended!
