great product

We purchased this generator prior to Hurricane Ian. We live in Southwest Florida in Port Charlotte. We used this product daily for 7 days, running 10 hours a day. We powered kitchen fridge and a power strip. The power strip was used to charge phones and run fans.

Great features

I was searching for a portable generator and was very impressed with the features on the Wgen5300DF model. The dual fuel feature is especially useful. My research into this model convinced me that it should be a reliable and quality product. When I purchased and set up the unit I was further impressed by the overall quality and functionality of the generator. I am looking forward to using this product

Problem Corrected

Started on first pull

The generator started on propane on the first pull, ran smoothly, and handled my test load easily. I plan to connect it to some of the circuits on my breaker panel and test it again later. When I started assembling the wheels I found that one wheel had the wrong axle diameter. Fortunately, I was able to contact Westinghouse online and submit the info on the problem with a photo and they very quickly sent me a new wheel which solved the problem.

duel fuel generator

I received and unpacked it. It seems very well built. I put oil in which was made easy by funnel provided, put on wheels which was also very easy. Put on feet which was made easier with welded on nuts. Came with everything to use Lp but the Tank! smaller than I thought it would be but that is a plus. Moves around easily and handle pushes down for more space for storage. I bought this because of the duel fuel capability because the one I have isn't.

Excellent for Camping RV Power

I have been keeping an eye out for a dual fuel Generator, have looked at many and found this choice to fill my needs perfectly. I will be going on a long RV trip and expect to boondock several places and the ability to use either propane or petrol is an added plus since I travel with a 100lb propane tank and spare gasoline. I should be all set and will submit additional reviews along the way.

Features and ease of setting up.

I just bought this generator 12-6-23, very easy to get legs and wheels installed. Supplied funnel made oil filling very easy also. Actually have to fill with gas and get propane tank filled before I try it out. But will give another review after I try a little and see how it does. But so far happy with ease of set up and controls and toughness look of machine.

So far so good...

We purchased this generator in preparation for the upcoming winter season, so I reserve the privilege of updating my review. For now I'm giving it a probationary 5 stars. I set it up according to the instructions and decided to use propane for my initial test because using gasoline would've involved adding fuel stabilizer and dealing with potential gunk later since there remains at least three months before winter. It started on the 4th or 5th pull and I was pleasantly surprised to discover it's much quieter than I expected. I let it run for a couple-few minutes, then put my multimeter on it. 244 volts: perfect! Next I plugged it into the inlet box on the back of our house, and energized the emergency sub panel. I plugged in a 120 volt 1000 watt heat gun. The engine speed dipped for a moment, but bounced right back up again, no problem. The real test comes when the utility goes down.. I shall keep you posted. But so far so good 👍

Powers my entire house with ease!

The 240v output on this generator makes it quite simple to hook up and feed your main panel during outages, and the power output is more than enough for my 2300 square foot house. The option to run on propane means that I don't have to worry about a gummed up carburator or fuel system when this generator is needed! The derates due to propane usage coupled with my 6,500ft elevation mean I can only expect this generator to produce ~3,450 continuous running watts, but that was still more than enough for my purposes. I tested this generator by transferring my main panel from grid power to the generator, and running in that configuration for 3.5 hours. I periodically measured current and voltage on both of the hot conductors to calculate load, and I averaged around 1400w for the 3.5 hours. The maximum load I measured was 1750w, which included my primary refrigerator/freezer (inverter driven, so no large inrush), a second full size freezer (22A inrush measured), all indoor lights, two ceiling fans, natural gas furnace (mainly the fan), a convection gas oven (manly the fan), and everything normally plugged into outlets including a couple of computers. The largest imbalance I saw was 6.2A on one side of my panel and 3.3A on the other, but the generator was still able to hold voltages relatively even at 121.6v and 122.2v from each hot to neutral. I had the propane tank on a scale during this test, and it used ~6lbs of propane, which works out to a burn rate of approximately 1.7lb/hr at 1,400w (40% of my rated output at elevation), so it should run my house for nearly 12 hours on a standard 20lb propane tank.

Works Great + Duel Fuel

I bought this for my father in law in case of power outages. Decided on this model because of Duel fuel. Uses same tanks as our grill. With propane you do not have to worry about leaving gas in it and having it go bad. But if you really need it you can use both and extend your time between refills, If gas is unavailable you can use propane. Most stores carry exchangeable tanks and it doesn't go bad like gas does..

AWESOME GENERATOR

Did a lot of research before deciding on the WGen5300DFV, Took it thru the break-in period did great. Not as loud as I expected. Purchased a 25-foot 10/3 Conntek GEN1688 L14-30P to multi-Outlet, 30 Amp 4-Prong power cord to go with the generator. Note: the manual does not make it clear, but you must set the voltage switch to 240 volts to activate the L14-30R receptacle.
