Living in Florida is a challenge. After Hurricane Ian left us powerless for 11 days, with no electric to work the water pump and every electrical device in the house. When the dust settled, we realized we needed a strong generator to get us through any other outages. After much research, I settled on Westinghouse model wgen9500dfc, a 12,500-Watt dual fuel portable generator with remote start and a transfer switch outlet! The outlet is very important because the best setup for these generators is having a transfer switch outlet on the house that feeds into your breaker box. This is the safest way to run every system in your home following a bad storm with an outage. This allows you to plug the generator directly into the breaker box, block any incoming electricity from the power company so that you can select everything to be run on this big generator. Including your central air, which is a must in our hot humid climate. It's bad enough cleaning up after a hurricane, worse yet if you have no way to wash, clean, eat, protect, - all facets of home ownership here. Now that the new 2024 hurricane season is upon us, I've set up the brand new generator and following instructions to have it broken in and ready to go for the next emergency. We used non-ethanol gas which keeps your engines running clean. Follow the few directions to start the first time. It started right up! All by the push of one button. It's wonderful to not have to have a PhD to run a piece of equipment. Thank you Westinghouse, for an amazing all house generator of this quality. I picked up my Westinghouse WGen 12500/9500 yesterday from Family Farm And Home. After unboxing, it was very simple to put together. After adding oil and midgrade gas, turned fuel shutoff to open, pushed the start button and it started immediately. Ran it for 5 hours, then changed the oil as recommended by Westinghouse. Now I'm waiting for the power to go out. I know quite a few people that have this same generator and us it for home backup and love it. It will run their whole home with no problem.

We purchased this generator in preparation for the hurricane season. We had the electrical connection installed to connect the generator to the house. Although we were lucky that we didn't need it during the season, it was the best thing we could have purchased. Wen testing the generator, we disconnected the main power and started the generator. Glad to say, the house connection worked perfect. The generator supplied enough power that we were able to run AC, two fridges, and most lights without any issues. The generator has all the features we wanted and the remote start is great. We would without doubt recommend this generator!

We needed a sizable generator for our well and we chose a dual fuel unit that has very positive reviews. We have propane available and this eliminated the problem with gumming up with poor gasoline. It fired up right away. We are 100% pleased. Thank you

Just received the generator. Gave it a trial run. Extremely easy to set up and get it started. Directions were easy to follow. Just be sure to go step by step. I was too eager to push the start button. Have to remember to move the fuel shut off valve to on position. After checking for all systems go, easy to start with the button and with the remote start. A breeze to pair the remote start to the generator. I was surprised at how the noise level was not as loud as expected. The unit is moveable with the wheels, heavy but not so heavy that I cannot handle. Very happy with the unit. My electrician said I got a really good generator. I should even have enough power to use my electric stove top if we loose power. Highly recommend.

I bought this generator earlier this month and have been getting the 50 amp transfer switch connections completed for whole house power operations. I have yet to fire it up yet. I plan to update this review as soon as it is tested and run under power out conditions. I give it 4 stars just based on it's capabilities and features.

I bought this generator as a backup for my home during Hurricane Season. The ease of set-up and noticeable quality was evident. It started instantly using both gas and propane using the electric start. I hope I never have to use this, but I know it will be ready for me

Bought this as a backup generator for my home. Came on a pallet and delivered to my garage. Opened up to assemble and being a 78 year old man can only lift so much. The unit weighs just over 200# but by turning it on the pallet, was able to put wheels on as just high enough. l then turned it a little more and could put the feet on the other end and I was ready to go. After putting oil in and gas, I found the fuel turn on valve and it started up and ran within a few seconds. Totally portable by me by myself and will hook up to the house power. Exactly what I was looking for and totally impressed by the enclosed literature and the unit. Glad I purchased this one over others.

purchased this item after hurricane ian, once arrived, assembly required minimal, and once filled with oil, fuel and battery connection made starting was a breeze. just make sure choke is in the cold start position. tried all methods of starting, worked as expected. was especially surprised at the ease of pull start. very happy with purchase to date.
