Good Generator

We bought this after our 20 year old Generator gave up the ghost during the 2025 Ice Storm. This ran the everything we needed it to with and trouble. The remote start is a nice feature. If you are running it 24/7 the oil change schedule gets expensive. The fuel consumption was decent. So far it seems well built. The only real issue I have is the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is pretty high. This can cause problems with electrical items that are sensitive. It got us through 12 days of no power. I would recommend this generator to those that want something to run their house.

Thoroughly researched before selection

I did extensive research and comparisons of many different different backup generators for my home, from small to large permanent installations. This unit will run off gas or propane, which might be a big deal when it matters. Push button or remote start might be a big plus for those that won’t like to tug on a rope. If I have to go outside to set it up, I’m already going to be wet or cold either way, but it’s cool. 12500 peak watts is a big deal as the built in inverter so I don’t have to worry about plugging in electronics (cell phones, laptops, etc.) With this unit, I also bought a 25’ long 30-amp , 250v power chord transfer switch (L14-30P) and a transfer switch (Tt-40 RV 30amp to L14-30P) as well as a “generator through the walk” transfer kit (WKPBN30) ( these three things give me a long extension cord designed to set the generator away from the house and I plug it into outside wall at the transfer box. Then I will have an 6 plug outlet inside the home. This is the perfect setup for the not so perfect storm that I hope I don’t have to use. I’ma contractor and buy a lot of generators for my guys (wholesale from another vendor) but this product is unique for its intended use and the price is absolutely right. Definitely a nice rig. You should be able to search the product numbers I listed above and get yourself ready. The transfer box is ready to install if you can drill holes.

Looking for back up power for Snowmagedon

Last Winter we lost power and had to drain pipes and live with friends. We bought this unit to get wired into our breaker box so we can switch off our connection to the power company if power is out and run on the generator until its on and stable again.

Best Bang for the Buck

I’ve been wanting to get a generator for backup power in case of a severe winter storm. I settled on this Westinghouse generator and so far it is running very good. Everything is working on the generator as it should. The engine runs very smooth and not as loud as I thought it would be. It has plenty of power to run the things I need in my home in case we lose power. I plan on ordering spare parts for the most common parts that go bad. This is not a bad thing because any machine can malfunction at any given time. This generator has many great features and Westinghouse did a great job in the design of this generator. The first time I started it up I forgot to turn the gas on, but once it started it ran great. Make sure you read and follow the instructions to the letter. This is a generator not a toy and the operating procedures must be followed.

Easy set up

This is a very substantial motor/generator and appears to be exactly what I need. It has been bought to be an emergency power source in case of electric service being out to the house. It appears to be up to the job, but won't know until it is put to the test. I do have confidence after reading the very detailed manual that it will do what it is intended to do. I feel encouraged.

Great Features, Remote Start, Dual Fuel

I was in need of a power generator and happy I settled on this one. Gives me peace of mind when the power goes out in my home. I am surely pleased with the ease of starting with the remote, and the convenance of the dual fuel feature. It keeps both my refrigerators and freezer working well plus a little light source.

Worked Flawlessly Out of Box

I just received the 9500 Dual Fuel generator. It was easy to put on the wheels, add oil and get it ready to run. I put a little gasoline in the tank and also hooked it up to propane and it started after about three cycles on propane with the electric start. I let it run on propane for a few minutes and then tried to switch over to gasoline. It would not start on gas initially but I had only put a little gas in the tank so I added more to the tank and then it started on gasoline. I suspect that I did not have enough gas in the tank initially. Have been running it to break in and it runs well with no issues. It is a little loud but what I expected from a portable generator. I have been breaking it in mostly on propane and it starts easily. I like the handle on the generator which makes it easy to move. Overall very pleased with initial experience and look forward to running it as a home back-up when I have a transfer switch installed.

everything you need in one unit..

I bought the WGen9500DF which comes with everything you can ask for in one unit. At first start the power light didn't come on but after diagnosing the problem it was a disconnected wire.. Now it runs perfect.. Haven't used it in a power outage yet but looking forward to seeing if its as good as it looks...

Got Propane?

Purchased six weeks ago and runs on dual fuel, propane & gas. For me, the propane is easy and cleaner. The sacrifice of a little power is worth not having to mess with gasoline. Been through one storm down in the single digits for 7 days. We are now ready if and when we lose power.

Just What I Needed

This generator is built solid! Not only does it have the Dual Fuel option, but it is also remote start/push button start. Now my wife can roll out the generator and get it going. Very pleased with the build product of this generator. Highly Recommended!
