I have owned several generators in the past (I'm 75 yrs old) and never had a problem. Down here in Louisiana with yearly hurricanes we lose power a lot. Almost ruined this one because the instructions about the oil is confusing. First. the unit has a yellow dip stick so when you put in new oil, which is yellow it is nearly impossible to see the oil level. Second,.the oil fill lays at a horizontal angle, (unlike a car which if a vertical fill tube) . so it is hard to fill and hard to read the level on the dipstick and very easy to overfill. Third, they give you a 1 quart can of oil but don't tell you how much it takes when you first fill it up. But low oil was the problem when I almost ruined my generator. At the start I put oil in and added more and kept checking the dipstick then I thought it was full. So I started it and it ran for just about 1 hour and shut off. I tried many times over several days and it would run for only a few minutes or not start at all. I called Westinghouse about one of their service centers. Anyway, after about 10 days I reread the manual and began all over again. Ultimately, when I had rechecked everything I found that the oil level was now showing LOW so I added more oil, almost the whole quart and it finally started and ran fine for 2 hrs until I shut it off. Reading the manual for the 15th time I finally saw where it says under the troubleshooting info, " low oil shut down switch is preventing the unit from starting". This switch must be located internally in either the engine or the crankcase not anywhere that you can see it!!! This i believe was my problem and I sure hope I have not ruined my brand new generator, especially with another hurricane coming!!!!

I bought this Westinghouse 9500 kw unit to upgrade from my old 4000 kw. Took me about 15 minutes to set it up. Nice features and design. Owners manual well written. I am just going through some break-in cycles now with moderate loads. Runs smooth and less noisy than than my old 4K model. Love the dual fuel option. started up right away with the push of a button. Getting electrical work done to the house now to use the 50 amp. Will be giving it a full test run in a few weeks, but so far I am very impressed with this generator.

I recently purchased this generator because of all the fire safety power grid shut-downs we're experiencing in CA. I researched numerous other generator manufactures and the Westinghouse WGen9500DF had excellent reviews and was exactly the size/power we needed for our home. The set up was easy and I really like the VFT Data Center feature, it gives me the reading of the voltage, frequency in hertz, lifetime run hours, and run/maintenance. The only con so far and there really isn't a whole lot you can do about it on a generator this size, it is "VERY LOUD". If anything else comes up down the road, I'l definitely give a follow up review.

The unit was as advertised, cranked with first try, I'm an electrician so my first move was to check the voltage, perfect with Fluke 87, GFCI 120v outlets were present code correct weather resistant, all switches and breakers worked , I'm happy with unit.

Living on the gulf coast, we have frequent storms and lose power for extended times. I have a couple small Westinghouse inverter generators that have worked perfectly. Our biggest problem is that we have a water well and trying to keep the refrigerators and freezers running while using a small window unit to keep 1 room cool while we wait for our power to be turned back on. We just had Hurricane Beryl hit us and we lost power for 4 days. No showers, had to haul water to flush toilets, moving extension cords constantly to keep everything going. Very exhausting to say the least. After much research and great reviews, I purchase the WGen9500 Dual Fuel and installed a generator disconnect to my breaker box so I could power my whole house. I got the dual fuel so I can have a couple 100# propane bottles for backup as sometimes finding gas after a windstorm is impossible. I received the generator in perfect condition, read through the manual, added the supplied oil and filled the tank with fresh gas. I quick push of the remote and if fired up on the first try. I performed the initial break-in by plugging in a shop fan, small electric heater and a 1hp air compressor. I let them cycle for 8 hours and the generator never missed a beat. The following weekend, I connected it to my house. I flipped the breakers on all of the un-necessary items, just keeping my water well, my 4 ton ac and refrigerator and freezer running. The 9500 ran everything just like I needed to too. Hopefully we won't have another windstorm for a long time, but if we do, I'll be ready with the WGen9500. The remote start is going to be a lifesaver for sure!

The Westinghouse Generator Model WGen9500DF is a great purchase. It has all the bells and whistles needed to power your entire house during an emergency. The design, accessibility of all connections and ease of use are very good. I like the most the Dual Fuel feature which allows to use either LPG or Gasoline and it last a long time to get your through power outage and run the necessary appliances to maintain comfort. Very happy with this equipment!

Just got it out of box, easy assembly Put oil in and started my break in procedure and it fired right up on the propane Very happy so far Westinghouse also included the battery tender and funnel was nice for adding oil Would highly recommend this generator

Recently made this purchase for "peace of mind". We occasionally get bad storms in the spring and did not want to worry about food spoilage during a loss of power. This generator should power most of my needs within the house and I will be eventually have it connected to my main panel. Love that this is dual fuel (tested both, and both work great) and like the fact it has a remote. This unit also has an electronic ignition that will try multiple start attemps until it runs. Also has a manual pull cord for "just in case" the battery dies. Speaking of which, this also came with a battery charger as well. Super happy with my purchase, now just waiting for the ultimate test. Searched several generators, I'm glad I decided on this one.

I decided to go with this unit after reading all the positive reviews from already satisfied owners. I wanted a generator large enough to power my house in case of a. Power outage. After building our house 20 plus years ago we’ve had a couple of water damage occurrences in our basement from sump pumps not running. We can’t afford to be without power for more than a couple of hours without having water backups in our basement. This is a great peace of mind knowing that a start of this generator and flip of the switch and I. Have enough power to run my sump pumps, freezers, well pump, etc.
