We moved in our brand new house and we wanted to make sure we had a generator. There has been several hurricanes and unpredictable weather in our area. This one came highly recommended and so far we have no regrets. I suggest others to read the reviews and read through the manual. Staying prepared makes this purchase worth it.

I am getting my family ready for the hurricane season and finding a generator to connect to our transfer switch was of top priority. Having a propane option was a must for me for the reason that it stores over time better. We are very happy with this generator and I love the remote start option.

Unboxing is super easy. Hooked up to my house and it will run all lights, outlets, fridge, and hot water heater. It is not enough to run the main ac/heater but I can use the stove and washer/dryer if I turn off most other non essentiel items during use. It is definately the more cost effective option if you can live with calculating the load before using your major appliances.

On the plus side, the generator started first attempt with the electric start. I expected the battery would be dead and require a pull start. The down side was that I decided to upgrade to 05W-30 oil for cold temps. I bought one quart which is what was provided and it was not enough to fill the generator. So, I had to go back to the store again to buy more oil... What a pain. If the generator continues to work well or I hear from Westinghouse regarding the oil volume I will consider upgrading my rating.

I have owned several generators in the past 20 years . By far this was the best value for the dollar with these options and size. After reading past reviews over the year, I decided not to buy a whole house system costing more than15k . Instead with the savings, I had a sub panel and cutoff switch installed by an electrical feeding this generator directly to the house and will provide enough power on natural gas or gas to supply all my necessary items in the house and then some. It was packed great, and easy to start. I definitely recommend this unit> I've started it several times over the month and it cranks up the first push of the button .

Purchased a month ago - best generator we’ve ever owned. Dual fuel and can be converted with a kit (separate purchase) to run on natural gas. So we are on the Texas gulf coast. Hurricane alley. We were the worst hit area during Harvey. Nearly every person in the area was negatively affected in one way or another during that ordeal. We also went without power during the ridiculous winter storm that hit Texas February 2021. We had nothing for 48 hours. Although our heat runs with gas, the central unit requires electricity to cycle. For clarification, our homes are built to withstand hurricanes, not sub freezing temperatures for long periods of time. Our pipes generally run through the walls and ceilings rather than under the home due to flooding from tropical storms. Many of those pipes burst because we do not have alternate furnaces as many of us never even turn Them on during the winter months at all. It simply does not get cold enough here due to being 15 minutes from the gulf. There’s not a single home I have ever seen throughout the entire state that has a basement. Throughout the last two decades, we have encountered numerous tropical storms or hurricanes that have left many homes without power at all for up to three weeks. Many of us have external freezers for wild game storage. There has been devastating loss for people with medical conditions that require electronic devices for survival as well.This freak of a winter storm that dropped our temperatures to a high of 13°F Never crossed our minds as being so tragically devastating. We certainly did not anticipate loss of power at all. Our vehicles are not formatted for anything other than insane rain storms. I have never seen a set of show chains. Our winter generally consists of mild temperatures aside from when we get a pretty strong cold front from Canada that lasts a couple days max. I am close enough to the coast that we do not have seasons in our trees do not change colors. Being that my husband and I are in our 30s, spent much of our lives outside of the city limits growing up on farms, avid hunters and fisher often, we are healthy, hearty, hard working and resourceful. There are not many tasks we have to hire someone to complete as long as we have the time. That being said, having no air-conditioning for extended amounts of time in 100° plus temperatures is just not feasible down here. It happens often with the tropical storms and literally makes you question what you did to deserve being thrown into satans lair. Not exaggerating. It’s HOT, humid like a soup sandwich, weird bugs come out we’ve never seen, and the mosquitoes reproduce at a rate that cannot be calculated. AND they are tiny and vicious on up to full blown pterodactyls. Fire ants float in massive bundles on top of water and they are EVERYWHERE. They are meticulously trained and hard wired to be more stealthy and better coordinated than our best Seal teams. They ain’t scared of a single thing. We’ve all been attacked. Wasps. Hornets. Snakes. Armadillos. Possums. Coons. You name it, it’s displaced, hot, wet, scared and looking for snacks and a dry place. Without air-conditioning or any means to circulate the hot sticky wet air, we are forced to crack doors and windows and become one with all the critters that bite. And it’s still unbearable. We have always had a fairly decent size generator previously that would at least run a window unit to cool one room of the house. Our last one had seen better days. It finally died and we have not had one for a while. Winter was a whole new beast none of us saw coming. We did have a very small one just powerful enough to power a television and over the air antenna. We also had it run a tiny personal desk heater in cycles. Many of us are native and have never seen temperatures that low for that long. Generally losing power is something we fully expect in the summer not only from hurricanes but ridiculous thunderstorms. We have not replaced either generator because we have never needed one during the winter. It was on the list, but further down. There was not a single generator available within hundreds of miles. Once everything settled we went ahead and purchased this one. After whatever that was, I have decided I am never spending another single day freezing to death or dying of heat stroke. I was fully prepared to literally drain my 401(k) and throw any amount of money anyone that could produce a generator powerful enough to run our central unit for extended periods of time. I didn’t care if it ran anything else whatsoever and was prepared to pay tens of thousands of dollars for one. This one is affordable and can be hard wired to your home rather than just a billion extension cords. During this last storm, gas stations were not able to provide fuel because of the power outages and propane suppliers had people standing in lines of well over 100 at any given time of the day for hours until they ran out. Being that our home has natural gas outlets, this was an added bonus if one or two sources is not available. The only downside which is not major is that unit generates so much power it is not safe to plug smaller devices directly into it. It is formatted to output A LOT of power, so it will zap smaller electronics plugged directly into the unit because of the abundance electricity it’s putting out. We also have a camper we needed a portable generator for. Eventually we will have a non-portable directly hardwired as an alternate power source, but because of the RV, we killed two birds with one stone this go round. This particular unit does not have a regular crank. It is much easier to get started and it is significantly more quiet than our little 2000 watt 2 gal that leaked everywhere and wasn’t even strong enough to run the keurig. I mean, the Keurig is nice and I enjoy the simplicity of it, but during this last storm it was a real pain to have to boil water and carefully make a cup of coffee. I am extremely grateful for that tiny little leaky ratchet generator, because one of us would likely have been arrested for homicide If we had to just listen to each other breathe for two days inside the house because it was too cold to go outside. At least during hurricane season, we can go outside and fire up the grill. Our bones don’t know what to do in the cold. That TV saved lives, y’all. Anyway, easy to assemble (just attach the wheels), good warranty, more fuel options than any other, user friendly and AFFORDABLE. Y’all see the price of those Honda’s? I almost bit the bullet out of being trapped and possibly a touch of temporary insanity from experiencing external changes for extended amounts of time this 36 year old body has never ever seen. But this one is a MUCH better option. It may not survive 300 years like that Honda would, but saving thousands of dollars and with options no other company offers, I feel the cost is fair. As long as you keep the carburetor clean and drain the gas before storage along with some regular general maintenance kind of like you have to with your vehicle, I do expect this amazing piece of expertly engineered machinery To last well over a decade, maybe two if I get really lucky. Don’t hesitate. It is worth every penny.

These are great generators. I have used mine twice. The last time after huriccane Beryl. I now have a spare at the residence. A extra at my fishing camp in Galveston. And 1 more that I can loan a friend. I am sold on th Wgen9500DF. It will run my 5 ton a/c and everything else when pluged into the 50 amp outlet.

I began looking for a home backup generator after my power went off in February 2021 for two days and three nights in single-digit freezing weather complete with ice and snow everywhere. I've lived in Nebraska for several years and we never had that problem in weather even more severe. So I don't trust Texas to supply power in critical times when solar and wind are unreliable. Hence the need for my own backup power. I looked at many different generator brands and settled on the Westinghouse as the most reliable, also one of the more popular choices, as well as being a great value.

I have not had it long enough to really give a good review. So far I really like it.The dual fuel capability (gasoline and propane) caught my attention, providing flexibility and options in case one fuel source is not readily available. This is more than sufficient to handle the power needs of my home, including essential appliances and electronics if we need it. We are on a well and really need our water if power goes out so the well pump needs to run so I think this will work just great. I am really happy with my purchase.

I bought this generator in March 2021 after extensive research. The unit was well packaged and easy to assemble. The unit started with one push of the key fob that had been linked from the factory. I have only started this WGEN9500DF without a load. The unit was much quieter than I anticipated for a generator of this size. I am very pleased with this product. it is full of useful features I highly recommend this product.
