I bought this due to a severe ice storm that we are expecting. It arrived promptly. Started on the first try with remote start. I ran it for a few minutes, and it seemed to be operating fine. Instructions were very clear and it was easy to set up. Would recommend.

This is a great generator for the price. I had an electrician install a 50amp lockout so I can power my home during an outage. I will be testing everything soon, but expect no issues. It is heavy until you install the feet and wheels. I suggest reading through all set up and maintenance instructions thoroughly before using, even if you have used a generator before. This is my first generator and at this point I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Bought WGen9500DF in early April of '25, it was great initially on both propane and gas. Fast forward to this past weekend when we lost power during the winter storm and it would NOT start in gasoline mode, never even tried to fire, it would crank but not start !! The gas was treated so "bad gas" should not be the issue. Luckily it would run on LP but I had very little of it on hand.

I ordered this generator, Wgen 9500 DF, from Sams online. 10 days later, it was delivered by shipping truck. Since I had 10 days before it arrived, I did my research by reading the manual, which I found at the Westinghouse generator site. I also searched and found this generator online and watched videos which were very informative. There was no damage to the shipping box. The generator and all it's accessories were neatly arranged inside the box. I carefully used a box knife and cut each corner down and the unit was then sitting in the middle of the cut open box. I used a 6x6 piece of wood I had to support one side at a time to install the wheels and rubber feet. The wheels and rubber feet installed very easy. Next I used the supplied funnel and put oil in the generator. The supplied oil is the exact amount needed for this unit. It is slightly over 1 quart. I kept the empty oil bottle and used a cable tie to attach the funnel to it after filling the engine.. I did this because I will fill this unique oil container from a gallon of oil. It makes it easier, and it's the exact amount of oil needed. Next, I used the already installed collapsible handle, and moved it OUTSIDE. (Never operate any generator in a garage, no matter what the fuel is!) This generator is a DF, duel fuel. I am glad that it can use gasoline, but I will probably only use propane in it. No worries about bad gas and storage issues. I hooked up the included propane hose to the unit and to one of my grill propane bottles. I then connected the disconnected battery cable. No tools needed, it comes disconnected for safety because it also has a wireless remote that works 99 feet away from the unit. I pushed the switch to turn the battery on and the battery indicator light illuminated. I turned the gasoline or propane switch to propane. I turned my propane on and smelled my connections and found no leaks. I checked to make sure the breakers were in the off position. I pushed and held the start button on the remote control for 2 seconds. The unit started on its first try! The manual says to break in the unit by only using half the capacity of the watts for a few hours. After that you can put a full load on it. I tested all the electrical ports, (110, 30amp, 50amp), and they all worked. I ran a it for an hour and powered small appliances. This appears to be a great generator. It weighs just over 200lbs. It's a little loud. I can live with that because of its capabilities. Oh, to save money, I went to Harbor Freight and bought the large generator cover they sell for their machines. It fits great! $19.00. I didn't go into all the details of this generator, but I will say, it appears very well made. I hope this helps with yall's decision. Take care, Billy W.

I bought this on the day of the blizzard 2/22/26, it was the last one in the store! I was like I'll take it! in 2012 I lost my house to the Sandy storm and I wasn't going to go through that again! This Westinghouse Generator was a god sent! I lose power for a very short time, but it was worth piece of mind knowing I was able to use my new generator! Thank you!

purchased during a three-day power outage. My current generator was 25 years old and not running good, had to have power as it was winter storm and extremely cold. I bought Westinghouse generator and got it home, easy setup, excellent instructions, got it fired up and it had the power to run my entire home. Very pleased with power, quiet running compared to my old 5000 series (different brand). I have two friends that have this machine, and they recommended it to me, they are very pleased with their generator and would probably rate theirs 5 stars, because I just purchased and used for three days I give it 4 with hopes that I will say 5 stars based on good performance in the long haul.

I have only used this generator one time since purchasing it but it performed perfectly. The manual was very informative and relatively easy to understand. The dual fuel feature provides flexibility and convenience and switching fuels is a simple process. I chose Westinghouse on its outstanding reputation for quality and performance along with endorsements from friends who have purchased and used the brand and highly recommended it.

Bought this in November 24. Used it a couple of times during power outages. It powers our whole house, including heat pump, with no issues! Lifesaver! Up here in the mountains of Virginia we need a generator like this one to get through the winters. Haven't run it off propane, only gas. It was easy to set up and a high quality product.

Very impressed with this generator. Starting with the packaging it came, excellent. Build quality is top shelf. It’s a beast. Love the features that come with this model at an affordable price, you can’t go wrong!! Looking forward to many years of service with this machine. It’s definitely up to the task.

I bought this generator for the snowpocalypse we were expecting in my area. With it's capacity I was able to install a transfer switch to run off the 50 amp outlet and backfeed my house. The remote start gives me peace of mind that when I'm out at work my family will be able to get it running and be able to function even if I'm not there.
