9500Df Generator

I haven’t had a chance to use this yet, but when I do, I’ll update. This is for home use, after Texas lost power last winter, I didn’t want to get caught without again. This generator is amazing, so far. Very little prep involved, and what there is is pretty simple. It seems to be very nice, and watching and reading what others thought, I think I made the right choice.

Solid unit for the pricepoint

Bought this unit and got it delivered. Solid & compact unit. Simple & quick assembly with tools provided. Attached bubble level indicators to guide correct placement (purchased separately). Easy to move around with the large wheels and foldable handlebar. Comes with oil and funnel. Runs great. Clear instructions covering assembly, operations and maintenance.

WGen9500DF - perfect for us!

I wanted a generator that can run our home A/C and other essentials during a power outage. The WGen9500DF right out of the box started right up by using the remote. It had to crank a few seconds until fuel primed - then started up fast. I tried a few starts no issue, instant on. We bought the ST Switch with Smart Portable Automatic Transfer Technology and hooked it up for a test. Simulated a power outage and as advertised the generator immediately kicked on by itself and provided emergency power. We simulated a power restore and it transferred power power back to the utility. Buy this if it is large enough (check your needs). Excellent product! I can't tell you about reliability over the long term as it is new for us but it works well. We will get a soft start for our A/C to help things along.... I am a design in a nuclear powerplant and this back up generator is a slick home back up system that is affordable. The dual fuel option is also a nice feature.

Great value and features

I purchased this generator to keep my on demand gas water heater, fridge, lights, tv, freezer and a few window units going after a hurricane. I'm currently in the 5 hour break in period as stated in the manual and everything seems to be going fine. The generator is hooked to my house through our 30 amp generator inlet box and interlock and I'm running everything in the house except the central ac with no issues. The option of using our 500 gallon home propane tank instead of waiting in line to fill 5 gallon gas cans after a hurricane is awesome and really what made my mind up to purchase this model. So far I am happy with this beast of a machine and am happy with my purchase!

Sturdy construction

Bought to provide standby power for my aged Mother since Texas cannot seem to manage the electrical grid. Unit is as advertised but constructed much more robustly than I anticipated. Interesting note that sales information said it was made in China yet the serial tag reflects Vietnam.

Very Happy

Living in Florida, we have to anticipate the hurricane worst and so far this is looking like it is going to be a great answer to our situation. We are older, so looking for something that even my wife can handle, and she's ecstatic. Happy wife, happy life!

Excellent Dual-Fuel Generator

Removed from packaging. All quality and solid construction. Added about 95% of the supplied oil. Added gas. Attempted push-button start. Wouldn't start. Try numerous times and wouldn't start. Decided to add the last bit of oil to bring into middle section of oil stick. It started right up. Must be sensor controlled. Ran for half hour, and will do a couple more oil changes before long term use. Very satisfied!

Worked Great at first

We bought this in January 2024 and used during a winter storm and in the spring during a thunderstorm outage. We had a power outage last week and the generator wouldn't start, then we jumped the battery with our car. Worked great for several hours then it just quit - plenty of fuel was in it. We are troubleshooting now. May change the overall rating if it is an easy fix. Frustrating since it worked so well earlier this year - brand new also!

Great unit with neat features

Replaced a 20 year old Generac 10000. The features on the new generator are outstanding. Dual fuel is a real bonus. No carburetor worries when using propane. Fuel guage. Data read out for hours used AND service reminder. Quiet and powerful....

Best Packaging ever

This product was shipped the way I would want it shipped. Assembly could be performed by a competent 12 year old kid. The unit is shipped without oil in the motor and I thought I would need to drive to the store for oil but it's in the box - yea! Additionally, there is a specially shaped funnel included for adding oil. Who else does this? I would suggest making the funnel port as large as possible to allow faster oil filling. The wheels go on without the need for tools which is a great design feature. There are two foot pads which require a wrench and they even supplied a wrench to do that - a rarity indeed. The box even contains a spark plug wrench which has nothing to do with assembly but they even include one of these for a day in the future when the plug will be changed. This is a big motor so electric start is logical over pulling on a rope. it started easily on gasoline and I ran it 5 minutes then shut down and started it with the rope. The choke moves automatically away from the choke position when the engine starts. I ran for ten minutes without issue and shut down. It seems to be a beefy unit and not cheaply made. I had a 45 year career in manufacturing and supplier development for gas and diesel fuel injection product. The cast iron sleeves in the engine cylinder and dual fuel choices was my tie breaker when deciding to buy this Westinghouse unit. I'll look to update after the electrician connects to my circuit breaker panel.
