The box would be great were it not for the difficulty in putting it together. Both side pieces were warped, making it VERY difficult to snap the box together, and I'm slightly concerned that, because of this, it will fly apart if we fill it too full. Some of the hardware was difficult to install - multiple size bolts and screws requiring multiple tools, screws in hard to get at locations, and tough plastic burrs that needed removing before being able to fit the bolts. But the warped pieces were the real issue. I guess this isn't a common problem, since most reveiwers say it is easy to build but, for the price, I would have expected better.

Shopped in stores and online for a deck box to put outside by the pool. This one was the best priced and size for my purposes. It was also well made and sturdier than the others I looked at in the same price range. After we got it home and put it together, which was fairly easy, we were very happy with the choice we made. The top has a controlled spring hinge (gas I think) that works very well and you can lock it with a pad lock if you want.

Easy to assemble with the help of 2 You Tube instructional videos. Perfect for storing BBQ tools, patio chair and table covers etc. Lockable lid is a good feature. Lid is the trickiest part to attach, but does not require 2 people to do it. Caution against over tightening screws and bolts into the plastic.

I usually love my Lifetime products. The box works great as expected. I do have a small dent in a side panel (likely from shipping), and I also have some scratches on the lid (likely from the hinges/bolts/screws sliding around during shipping). Not a deal breaker. The biggest issue I had was when I was I was connecting the latch system. The back and side are placed onto the bottom with a tab the inserts and slides. However, a gap existed about 1/4 inch on the back piece. This made the back 1/4 higher that the right side. The latch mechanism was now about 1/4 of an inch higher and the bolt holes did not align. I eventually had to place the box on an uneven ground to twist the box enough to get the bolts through the proper holes. I am concerned over time the bolt will pull through the plastic on the side. Other than that, the construction of the box was easy. The lid fits tightly down. Overall I am satisfied (perhaps if I bought it in the store, instead of having it shipped, the other issues would have been fixed).

Nothing I didn't like. We have one like this that is about 7 years old and has weathered three hurricanes. The new one has updated colors but the same reliable construction. can fit my outdoor folding chairs and other cushions, and even the golf cart cover. You can even sit on it!

I bought this unit from an individual and thought the box was unopened. Opened igt up and was missing all hardware except for the metal piece. I called to order the hardware. The screw package was unavailable but the hinges and struts are. The agent ordered them at no charge! I can purchase the screws locally and they aren't needed to assemble the box. They are needed to avoid warping.

I had a BLAST putting this deck box together! OMG! Good directions, easy to,even when I didn't have one side panel right. I fixed it EASILY! The lid with the shocks it fabulous, especially in this blustery area at times. The parts for the lid were easy to work with, because the picture showed clearly where screws and bolts went! I had so much fun getting the metal parts onto the lid and attaching it to the box, and it works fabulously! It also has a nice place for a lock! The best thing is (and this is a girly thing) I DIDN'T BREAK A FINGERNAIL)! I put it together myself and it was fun!!! Amy

The unique design (quite smart), plastic quality/stiffness (a BIG plus), bug security, and extreme ease of assembly beats all the other deck boxes, hands down. The few included screws all hit home and tighten very solidly, adding further to the stiffness of the entire assembly. On top of this, the Lifetime box has TWO gas lift cylinders, which few (if any) others have. When the lid is closed, it snaps shut....and opening is literally a reverse snap. This is one high quality deck box! I'm using mine in my back yard to hold my Mantis tiller, handheld gas blower, two BBQ cylinders, two bug zappers, and a fold-up wagon (from Costco)....and it still has just enough room for all my patio furniture covers (which is why I bought it in the first place). I've had previous Rubbermaid deck boxes, and inspected the latest Suncast and Keter, but was pleasantly surprised that none have the robustness of this Lifetime box. A great find!!

I was looking for a large outdoor storage bin that was sturdy, weather resistant, and looked good....this bin did not disappoint! Easy to put together (but you will need your own tools), well constructed, excellent fit for injection molded plastics, and the pneumatic struts make for easy opening and a sure lock in the open position (you know the lid is not going to fall back on your head when you reach in!). This thing is big on storage!! Plenty of room for 55 feet of pool vac hose, plus all the chemical buckets (and you can put a lock on it for safety!), vac and brush attachments, and there is still room left for pool toys! I am VERY pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others without hesitation.

I purchased the 130 gallon chest over 2 months ago. When I finally found the time to put it together there was a defective part but the customer service rep went beyond what I expected to make sure I got replacement parts. Once received, the box went together quickly and easily. I'm a very happy customer.
