The pistons and mounting hardware rusted badly after only a short time. Customer service told me that rust is not covered under the ten year warranty since it is considered to be an "environmental issue". I had assumed that this box was designed to withstand the outdoors environment and prevent rust since it is advertised as an OUTDOOR storage box. Very disappointed all around!

When I was in the market for a new deck box. I did my research I choose Lifetime's 60012 deck box. We had a warranty problem and Lifetime's CSR person was quick to address and evaluate our situation. Very pleased with the promptness of Lifetime's reply and the courteous and professional handling by their CSR person. I will continue to buy Lifetime products.

Not trimming all excess from the sides, front and back caused misalignment of bolt holes which attach the hinges. After you screw them together you later find out the holes in the sides and hinges do not line up. I had to force the sides up using clamps so the holes would line up. It took me two hours working by myself to assemble this unit. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase an you can see by my four star rating. Who are you to tell me how long my Nickname has to be? Many people have two character nickname.

I bought this a week or so ago and read the pros and cons. The cons were very negative about assembly. I found this to be very easy, I did it myself. I followed the instruction and it was very simple. They even show picture of the screws to use so you have no excuse of using the wrong one (which other negative reviews mentioned). This will be used to store the pool floats and toys and other outdoor items. Only comment that I would suggest for the manufacturer would be to improve the side holes for the hinge assemblies. They have left over plastic in the holes, which makes it difficult to get the bolt thru. They could drill or file it out before boxing it up for shipment. I had to take a file to clean the hole out before I could get the screw thru it but that didn't take long at all. Start to finish took me an hour. I'm pleased with product for it will meet our need. Love the deck box but not as easy to assemble per instructions. One on the long sides did not go into the slots. One slot at the one end did not stay in place as if it did not line up. We finally got it all put together. It took 2 hours which was way longer than we thought.

The quality of the material, product durability, the size, the ease of putting the box together, being waterproof, weather resistance, and excellent warranty were all major factors for this purchase. Purchasing a product made in the USA should have been a plus. I am very handy and I followed the directions to a T. It took 5 and a half hours and much struggle to put this item together properly. The pieces should all go together easily and the holes should all align properly and easily. This is so much NOT the case!!! A couple of holes aligned correctly but that was it. It was a struggle to get all pieces to fit properly. Through MUCH effort I managed. All except the top!! All that effort to find that the last piece is NOT going to fit!! One side fit and closed properly all of the way...the other side not. In putting this box together I found the pieces not cut to the precise size, angles and shape to insure proper fit and ease of fit. The actual material of the box and parts of the design are great which makes this such a surprise and disappointment. Made in the USA? That is a shame!!

It looks great and keeps everything dry. It was easy to assemble, particularly when you can review the assembly video as you go. Highly recommend.

I have owned the Lifetime 130 gallon storage box for several years. If you saw it today, you would think it is brand new. This product can take a beating in the heat or cold and perform perfectly every time. My favorite part is the gas assist pistons that hold up the lid and keep it from falling down on my head or hands. A close second favorite feature is a place to lock the lid. I store pesticides, fertilizers and garden tools in this storage box and use a padlock for extra safety and peace of mind. Since the lid can handle up to 900 pounds of weight on it, I don't have to worry if I stand, sit or keep things on the top. Strong, safe, versatile and good looking - definitely worth the price!

I bought my deck box and assembly was easy. When finished the lid wouldn't lin up to close. I examined the lid and it was warped. I called customer service the gentleman I talked with was very pleasant and helpful. Within 15 minutes a new lid was on order at no cost to me and arrived in less than the time I was expecting. I installed the new lid and the box is great. I would definitely purchase more products from this company.

This storage box looks great on the deck! It holds alot of stuff too. It was easy to put together and I like the fact that the lid will not slam down on you. We have had alot of rain lately so I looked inside and everything was dry. It was worth the money.
