got this box a couple days ago everything was fine except for the front piece. last 4 in. of right hand corner was drouped down about 3\4 in and the top lip where the lid fits down over was bent off on a 45 degree angle. did not want to return as i needed it so took a hair dryer to lip and got it hot enough to straighten it up had to leave corner droup as is. appears to have come out of the mould that way fix not a 100% but will have to do. i quess quality control was not done on this

I now have two of the Lifetime storage boxes, a medium size and the 130 gallon size. Both were easy to put together if you can read and study the pictures. Both are weather tight. The 130 gallon size is perfect for our pool toys including the long noodles.

I bought this a week or so ago and read the pros and cons. The cons were very negative about assembly. I found this to be very easy, I did it myself. I followed the instruction and it was very simple. They even show picture of the screws to use so you have no excuse of using the wrong one (which other negative reviews mentioned). This will be used to store the pool floats and toys and other outdoor items. Only comment that I would suggest for the manufacturer would be to improve the side holes for the hinge assemblies. They have left over plastic in the holes, which makes it difficult to get the bolt thru. They could drill or file it out before boxing it up for shipment. I had to take a file to clean the hole out before I could get the screw thru it but that didn't take long at all. Start to finish took me an hour. I'm pleased with product for it will meet our need. Not trimming all excess from the sides, front and back caused misalignment of bolt holes which attach the hinges. After you screw them together you later find out the holes in the sides and hinges do not line up. I had to force the sides up using clamps so the holes would line up. It took me two hours working by myself to assemble this unit. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase an you can see by my four star rating. Who are you to tell me how long my Nickname has to be? Many people have two character nickname.

I just bought my third Lifetime Storage Box. I have had the previous two for several years now (purchased 2nd one in 2014 and 1st one before that!) and both have held up very well. They have remained outdoors on my patio and by my pool all year here in NJ and are still in excellent condition. The finish on both is still in excellent condition and have not stained with mold/algae as other plastic stuff has in my yard. They clean up easily in the springtime. I use these to store patio furniture cushions, pool tools, pool toys and supplies. They boxes were fairly easy to assemble. I found the instructions clear and easy to follow. It is a lot easier to attach the lid if you have an assistant to hold it but I was able to do it by myself just fine. I also cleaned up the through-holes of plastic burrs left after the manufacturing process to allow easier insertion of the hinge bolts. No big deal. One very important reason I purchased these specific model boxes from Lifetime is because they are made in the USA. I am extremely pleased with this storage box and I highly recommend it.

Advertising called it easy to assemble. After purchasing opening the box, instructions say "two capable adults". First red flag. Screws are larger than the metal hole - no kidding. Tools needed included 3 different sized rachet wrenchs. Did not mention electric drill, or creativity needed. Eventually it was done only to see the lid does not close on one corner - and there is no extra space at the other end. The inside of the lid is slightly smaller than the length of the assembled box. It looks great, will hold what I need but will mostly likely not be weather proof as the lid does not close tightly Had to purchase a separate cover for it. I have assembled furniture for about 20 years, cribs, bookcase, computer units. I think I am capable..... My suggestion: buy local and have it assembled.

I’m rating this product four stars without seeing it hold up in weather (I just finished assembling it). I had problems with the side panels aligning with the hinges to the lid. I had to unscrew the sides and lift them both slightly (be sure to look that the cut-out design on the outside is even with the front and back panels prior to screwing in the side panels, or you will run into a similar issue). I had to place one screw into the hinge from the inside out, or it would never have worked. My one concern is lifting the sides slightly…allowing water, ants, and other insects into the box through the bottom sides. I cannot see light coming through so far, so maybe the construction will be fine.

Reviews of lesser priced storage boxes indicated a problem with the hinges pulling out of the plastic, only time will tell with this product. Kept the rain out during the first small shower, will reserve judgment until after a heavy downpour. DIY to put together I put at a 3.5/5, takes some skill; there is a video which helped more than the paper instructions. Would recommend; hopefully my optimism will hold up a couple of months from now.

I bought mine last fall. It is light to move, and I really like the fact that it keeps everything inside dry. It is a little pricey, but worth it to know cushions from my good metal set will keep dry and clean. I wash it off with a hose, but you must have the lid down firmly to keep things dry. I also like the fact that it holds its value, as the sun does not trash it.

The pistons and mounting hardware rusted badly after only a short time. Customer service told me that rust is not covered under the ten year warranty since it is considered to be an "environmental issue". I had assumed that this box was designed to withstand the outdoors environment and prevent rust since it is advertised as an OUTDOOR storage box. Very disappointed all around!
