An excellent composter that should last. It's a well thought out design. However be prepared for the time it will take to put it together and pay close attention to the build instructions. For example I misread the manual and proper assembly of the first barrel took about 45 mins and because of that, the second one only took me 10mins! It took me about 3 hours in total to put it together. A metric socket set (11 %26 13mm) will make assembly easier.

Good purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Once or together, this is a nice, sturdy product. The bins turn freely and lock in place well. The barrels are easy to assemble, but there are really hard-to-reach tight places to get to when installing the center pole. This has been an issue with both Lifetime products I've ordered (this and convertible bench/tables), but the materials are always sturdy and made to last (hopefully) a long time.

Really well made

This is really decent quality. It took me 3 hours to put it together. Getting the initial panels to click together before the fasteners is the most challenging part. This is why they recommend two people during this phase. I think it's much easier to pre drill the screw holes. Lifetime has a YouTube video you can guide you that is much easier than the assembly manual.

What a great company

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hi I'm living in the UK and when the straps on my Double Drum Rotating Composter broke with being several years old. I thought I would email the company to see if they could help me. They returned the email straight away and asked how they could help. With an exchange of a few emails the straps were on there way and a week later they arrived at my home. What a great company. Well done

Nice but challenging to assemble

Really nice, heavy duty barrel composting unit. I gave it 4 stars because it was a bear to assemble, two people definitely needed to put it together. Otherwise, I really like it.

Double barrel composter

I just got this and thankfully I did not allow my husband to put it together by himself because it is definitely a two man job. They even give you two sets of instructions which I really appreciated; so I didn't have to read over his shoulder. It was a lot of assembly but I think it will be a good composter.

Hinges and latches rust

We’ve had this for a while. Hinges and hardware are NOT stainless steel. They should be. Trying to use the web site for parts or waiting forever if you call seem really unacceptable. I would pay extra for stainless hinges and/or latches, but that’s not an option. If you buy one of these, grease the hinge pins heavily and paint all the parts with rust prevention paint

Worst delivery service

This has been the worst delivery service I have ever interacted with. My delivery is now 8 days late. Every morning, I have to spend 20-30 minutes on the phone to find out if today is the day. Every day, they tell me it will be today and that they will call or text 30 minutes before the driver arrives. I never hear from them. It's the same Groundhog Day over and over. Do not order anything from Sam's Club that deals with their EFW freight company. The order has been sitting in my local area for 5 days, and they can't get their act together enough to deliver the last mile.

Does not hold up to what you would think for some called Lifetime...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This composter does not hold up to Phoenix, AZ weather. The summers here mercilessly hot and anything you buy that is going to get exposed to the sun must be tough. This material cannot hold up to what the expectations are from the company's self proclaimed namesake and advertising. There are a number of issues that come with this composter that only people who have been doing it for a while understand. This design is messy; if you water the compost which you have to do to keep it going, especially in the summer, it leaks through the bottom. Subsequently it can be gross to turn because the compost "tea" (the water that leaks from the compost bin) will get all over the place. This also accelerates the rusting of all the exposed metal parts, most importantly the bands and the hinges on the door. I regret buying this composter, not for the mess, which I can deal with, but the materials are terrible. I would even venture to guess given how badly the decomposed in heat that the composter's plastic materials themselves are getting into my compost and making it toxic... Anywho, buyer beware

No Aeration = No Worms = No Compost

We bought it on October 2025. It takes a lot of patience and time to put it together. After using it for 4 months, it does not have enough aeration to create the environment for worms to thrive. No worms = no compost. We've been composting in our California backyard for 20 years. Our 2 plastic bins were finally past repair. The Lifetime being elevated is a great concept, but it desperately needs a lot more air. We put a good amount of plant matter, etc. in one of the bins - instead of going from slightly smelly to no odor (this is a sign the worms are doing their job), it just smelled, there no worms - I had put a lot of worms in to get it started. It just smelled like rotting material. Compost when it is finished, has no odor. The Lifetime also has several rust spots which given the weight of the barrel when full, is disconcerting. I now prop the doors open so it gets more air - that takes away the heat it needs to make compost. It is a great concept with a serious design flaw.
