Won't buy again

They used to sell ground beef freshly packed that was 93% lean. They lowered it to 88% and the quality isn't as good. Time to find a alternative

Be careful chewing

My husband had several pieces of bone or gristle in this meat. I could actually hear it when he bit down on it I just knew he’d chipped a tooth. Also had a weird odor and not great flavor

Horrible!

Don’t know what’s going on with the ground beef. I used to get ground Chuck but it isn’t carried anymore. This last batch was horrible. Stringy and tough. It says 90/10. The 10 was gristle which made it inedible.

Where's the beef?

It's right here and a great buy! I always buy these packages of beef and they are great. They make great burger patties for the grill. My last package I was able to make 14 patties at 5 ounces a piece.

Doesn't taste like beef

I have bought this beef before at Sam's Club, but this one taste different. I BBQ yesterday and my family was complaining that it taste different. I finally taste it today and it doesn't taste like beef. My cousin only eats beef and she got sick.

I'm skeptical, I think I made a bad purchase

I bought this today because I had never seen it before. It sounded interesting. It's packaged as freshly ground in store, which it probably is, but I don't think that tells the whole story. I decided to search online for 88/12. It turns out Sam's Club is not the only store sellling 88/12. I found an article online that said the other big box store takes their 93/7 10 lb chubs and their steak fat trimmings that would be thrown away, and they create freshly ground 88/12. I'll have to ask the next time I'm in Sam's. I'm not sure that they would admit it if that's what they are doing, but it makes sense. The grind is extra fine for ground beef, which might indicate an extra pass through the grinder of already ground meat. For the amount of 88/12 they are selling, where is the beef coming from? Also, for a product that's supposedly 100% beef, what's with the "natural flavorings" in the ingredients? The beef I bought today had three days before you have to use or freeze it, but when I opened the package to portion it out and vacuum seal it for freezing, there was a bad smell. Also, underneath the label, the meat was already gray and there were gray "spots" within the beef. It's nowhere near as fresh as I expected it to be. I don't think it's rotten, but I don't think I'll be buying this again. There's something a little weird with this beef. I'm going back to buying 10 lb chubs of 80/20 which are a lot more reliable freshness and flavor-wise.

Awful

I didn't like that it's kind of tough. The first time I made spaghetti, I and my fiance were on the toilet with upset stomachs. He even blamed me for not making the spaghetti properly. The second time I used the ground beef, I made tacos. I once again had an upset stomach and was back on the toilet once again. I should of learned my lesson the first time.
