- 4 out of 5 stars review8/3/2020I would say this was a near perfect pergola! There were a few issues though so I can't give it five stars as much as I want to. It took me and my 21 year old son about a total of 5 hours to put this together. One thing I would change in the instructions is to build the sides so all four posts are attached, then put it in it's final resting place *before* putting on all the cross beams. This is not exactly light at this point and can only imagine how heavy it would have been had we built it all the way then moved it. Some of the 2x6 cross beams had a slight twist them which caused the 2x2 beams to miss their pre-drilled holes. Fortunately the 2x6's didn't crack while attaching the 2x2's. It was very heavy to lift & put together. But once we had it up, it was definitely worth the work! Our small back yard needed something to make it look nice & this pergola did just that. It also made my backyard look bigger. I highly recommend this!!

Construction and build was straight forward. I over torqued one bolt and cracked a support arm. They quickly sent out a replacement. HIGHLY recommend also treating with a water sealer before you build.

It really elevated the look of our yard, and we receive so many compliments on it. It took about 3 of use to put it together and some patience, but it was doable. I am so happy with our purchase, it is exactly what I was looking for. It should be noted that there are a few flaws here and there in the wood, but nothing major. It is to be expected when something is real wood versus pressed board.

And we needed a third set of hands to help stand everything up.) Also, the digital instructions were different than the manual. I would say the digital instructions were way easier to follow. Overall, I love my new pergola and I’m excited to host my next backyard gathering!

It adds the perfect structural element to our new backyard concrete patio. Hang some lights for some fabulous night time ambiance. The only negative I would have to say - the instructions say 2-3 people to assemble, but I was happy we had a 4th person to help with the step where you have to stand the very heavy leg posts up; that part was really tricky and impossible for us with only 3 people. Otherwise the assembly was straight forward. We are very happy with our purchase!

The hardware was complete and easy to work with. Instructions were clear and thorough. Assembly is straightforward if you pay attention to the directions. The only thing I can criticize is that one of the reabbertsd on a rafter was cut too short, but that was easily fixed with a handsaw.

Took about a day and a half for us (65 & 69) to get it set up. Not difficult at all. Added some lattice on the top and I now have some extra shade on my house.

We have high winds in Tennessee, but it withstood all the storms and wind. I sealed the wood with protectant to prevent pests and rotting. It was easy to construct, the direction were valuable and I am satisfied with the beautiful Somerville Pergola I sit under in my back yard.

There was nothing wrong with the stain it came with but, since we had to waterproof it, we chose a different color, and it looks beautiful! We have not anchored it yet, but it is holding steady to some strong winds. The pergola is kind of heavy, once assembled, and we are trying to figure out how to lift it up so we can place the plates/footers and anchor it. Love it thus far!

Putting together takes 2 people for sure. Just make sure you layout everything before assembling. I wanted to elevate mine so took some extra time. Would purchase again for sure.

I have had my Somerville 10x14 Pergola for 3 years. We enjoy sitting outside on cooler days, my yard is directly under the sun for the majority of the day, and that sunscreen option has been truly missed every year. I have tried other companies to find a suitable cover or canopy, with little to no success.

I had to touch up the scratches by poor boxing up. had a issue with one board missing pilot holes. you will need a square to make sure the boards do line up. a few boards were warped. otherwise follow the instructions and it will look good. I plan on sealing the wood for weather in Cleveland Ohio.

There were a couple dings in a few pieces of wood but nothing major. Instructions were easy and clear. Hardware is labeled in each package. Two people it is doable but we had a third person and it went together quick. I think the hardest part was anchoring to the concrete. If you are debating on this pergola, I'm here to say do it. You will love it. I also took advantage of sealing it before putting it up. Remember folks this is part of the warranty. Easier to do before it is together the first time.

It ended up being a fraction of what local places were going to charge us, and it looks great. Well worth paying for installation, however I wish we'd known ahead of time that the installers do not attach it to the concrete. We're just hoping our winds aren't so strong that it blows away.

We originally got a quote to build a custom cedar pergola and it came in around $6,500! After looking thru several options we went with the Somerville, it was cedar which was my main requirement as well as the clean modern lines. The color was a bonus and size is wide enough to comfortably fit our outdoor dining set. I ordered 2 sets and my husband made some modifications and turned it into 1 large pergola at a fraction of the costs the custom build would have been. Added some string lights and it's the perfect addition to our yard!

We have a long steep driveway and the delivery company dropped the boxes at the bottom of the driveway. Not acceptable since other companies have delivered to our doorstep. For the price the pergola is good value for money. The instructions are easy to follow and for the most part it fits together fairly easily. Its a 2 person job and I was able to assemble it over the weekend with my wife. Some of the bolts used to hold the base to the top are a bit short, longer bolts would make it easier to assemble and provide more threads for the nuts to hold on to. We live in southern CA and the slats provide some shade, I recommend adding a Pergola Shade Cover for additional protecti...
