Great for my kindergartener! The bottom lunch holder area takes away from the book bag depth. But she can still carry her home folder back and forth. It can get heavy, since she is in aftercare and takes lunch and snacks. We also go the bento lunchbox too, in hindsight I probably need a separate lunch box for the bentgo and her snacks. We are making it work.

This Backpack/lunchbox is perfect! Just the right size to hold plenty of necessities for school/daycare but not so big that toddler's can not carry themselves. AND allows parents to not have to schlep a ton of bags in and out. And the kiddos love the fun prints!

We love our Bentgo Chill lunch boxes. We have 4! And two of the snack containers. They hold up so well to my two rough and tumble kiddos. We use them for school, picnics, road trips and more. I recommend them to all my friends. If you’re hesitant on the price tag know it’s worth it. You don’t have to replace these constantly like cheaper brands. They are well built and worth every dollar.

Super expensive yet the construction feels super flimsy like cheap plastic Easter eggs. The pieces have a hard time connecting together. It's possible to latch the box closed even though the cold pack insert and the food tray aren't connected perfectly, which means there is a gap for soft foods like yogurt or applesauce to spill out and make a huge mess. Would never buy again.

It’s difficult to get the tray in and out to put the ice pack in. Which is a slight inconvenience and may get easier with time. The bigger issue is it’s pretty difficult to open and close for my 3 year old. Which leads to spilled and mixed food, defeating the purpose of buying a leak proof option, my 5 year old is capable of closing properly- so definitely possible just difficult for small hands

My children had a non ice pack model that lasted for 3 years and was used daily. We purchased these for this school year. It is difficult to close and open. My first grader was able to independently open and close the other model and now she has to ask for help daily. Not the independence I want to foster. I appreciate that the ice pack can be reused, but I wouldn’t purchase again…especially for the price.

It wasn't quite clear that the bottom is an included lunch box, and is not a storage pocket for a separate lunchbox. This backpack is a perfect size and works for my preschooler. But his life would be easier if the lunch box could just slide out of that pocket. I tried to go back and reread the description and look at pictures. But it's not clear from what I am seeing.

My toddler uses it for his daycare lunches and it's perfect. Compact enough for him to lift, which he likes to do, as it makes him feel important. I like that the compartments are fully separated and you don't have to worry about food leaking under those movable walls that some other bento boxes have. It's also super easy to clean. Has held up nicely for us so far. Will purchase another. This is probably too small for a child who is more than 7 or 8 years old. I'll upgrade to a larger size then.

We have had the fossil backpack for 2 years now. My son has used it for pre-k and kindergarten. It has held up through all of his adventures. He is a tiny guy, so the backpack looks huge on him but with the buckle in the front, he manages it just fine. The extra padded straps give him comfort for carrying heavy loads. Which is usually just extra clothes. His folder does get bent a little, so when he gets into higher grades and has to carry more books, it may not fit well. But for now, it works great for us. It has been reliable and functional for the last 2 years. We will be reusing it next year as well. The lunch box compartment on the bottom really helps him have less to carry, which is important. It is also big enough to throw in extra snacks that will not fit in the lunchbox. They do occasionally get squished as there is no support on the bottom but they are just extra snacks and he doesn't mind. We really love this booking.

This backpack is adorable and highly functional. My preschooler loves it and it’s the perfect size for his school supplies, including folders. I appreciate the separate organizer pocket for sending small things like his inhaler. Looking forward to this lasting the whole school year or more.
