I bought this gate in 2012 to keep my son out of my 3 year old daughters room as she has lots of little things he can choke on! But I didn't want to close her door when she was in there so I can still check in on her. We were able to teach her to unlock it by herself within a few days of purchasing it so she can come and goes as she pleases. We are now buying another one for my son's room since he now is sleeping in a toddler bed and we need a gate up at night to make sure he stays in his room. I don't like closing there doors at night so this is the best solution! Hope this helps and the cost is well worth it to keep them safe!

I found this product a little difficult to set up. It is hard to make the pressure mount work perfectly for the top of our stairs. Then, we had to figure out for ourselves that you have to remove a screw for the latch to work correctly. It seems pretty sturdy - at least for our toddling 14 month-old but not exactly the quality of product I thought I was buying. AT least it will prevent him from falling down the stairs - I hope!

This is an amazing product. I plan to buy another for another door. I put it up in less than 15 minutes even with my little one helping. It is very sturdy and easy to use. It appears there is a gap between the door and frame but that disappears when you tighening the ends upon installation. I HIGHLY recommend this product.

My 21 month old had this figured out in literally 3 minutes. It was installed Monday evening and dismantled the next morning and I ordered another gate... I would not recommend this gate if you think you are going to keep your toddler confined by it...A dog is a different story...this would be a good pet gate...if your dog can figure it out, you should take him on David Letterman, but otherwise... I think it is misleading for stores to carry this as a childproof gate...should be under the pet gate category only...

The purpose for my purchasing this gate was to keep our Lab from certain parts of the house. It's so much easier having a gate that opens and closes vs. the typical baby gate you have to remove and/or step over. The quality and price of this gate are great!! I would highly recommend this for use with children.....no sharp edges, very stable, would be very hard for them to get the gate unlocked. Height of gate is excellent!!!! I'd give this gate an A+++

This is the second time I have bought this very same gate and model number. The difference in quality is terrible the new gate has a smaller locking mechanism that requires a second lock on the bottom that is awkward to use. Trouble is I needed the gate immediately and returning it was not an option for me. I am not happy about this and will not purchase again! We bought this gate to keep our cat out of the living room and it works great. It is attractive, sturdy, well designed and was easy to install. Even though screws were furnished for mounting the end caps to the walls, it is secure enough that you do not have to use them, thereby eliminating any holes when you remove it. We are very very pleased with our purchase and the price was right. We give it a 5 star rating.

I just received this gate and we had it installed in the doorway within about 20 minutes. Very easy to install. Very sturdy. We bought it because we are getting 2 puppies and need to be able to keep them confined to the kitchen while going through potty training. Love the fact that we can walk through the gate and not have to step over. It comes with an extension but we didn't need to use it. I wish we had bought two instead of one, but we have a plastic one that will be ok for temporary use in another doorway. Absolutely recommend this gate - it's sturdy and should last for years.

What a great gate. We have a new puppy so we needed to contain her in a room with three doors. We purchased a plastic gate from a store in town and it had to be screwed into the doorjam. It also takes 15 to 30 seconds to manipulate the open shut feature with BOTH hands. NOT THIS METAL GATE! IT IS WONDERFUL. The gate does not need to be screwed in; it is pressure mounted. The ease of opening the gate is 10X better than the gate we purchased previously from another store. Plus this great metal gate was only $10 more than the one we are not happy with. Now we need a gate for the third door and we are definitely going to purchase another one of these Regalo gates. Our puppy is nearly 30 pounds of pure energy and she has been happily contained by this gate for 2 weeks now.

I would recommend this gate for a friend that needed a semi-permanent step through gate. The setup of the gate is easy, but will go much faster with a second set of hands. My 8 year old help me install the unit. The instructions list the included wall cups as optional if you don't have the gate installed at stairs. I would recommend using them regardless. The gate felt much more secure with the cups in place. I had to install this gate over a wider opening. (41 inches) The compression screws were extended too far, which led to a flimsy mounting. I added two, two inch shims on either side of the gate and now it is very sturdy and solid. An eight year old and six year use the gate effortlessly. Buy this gate if you need a sturdy gate in a narrower opening. 33 inches or less would be my recommendation.
