A tip for fitting into 36 inch spaces

For the people that can't fit it into a 36 inch space here is how to do it, you take the adjusting knobs off on one side only then put the screws in and then add the short extension, this way it is in tight with no room on the sides you just adjust it from 1 side and is very sturdy. I hope I explained that clearly lol

Perfect for the Purpose

This gate was purchased to keep dogs (Great Danes) and the cat out of the bedroom but make it easy for the parents to get in and out. Since we are only using it for pets and not kids we don't lock the latch making it easy to open with one hand. The product was easy to install and adjust. Also a great price compared to similar products.

Better than expected!

This gate delivers what it promises. Its construction is completely solid; the gate is tall enough to house any medium-sized dog with ease (our medium-sized dog has anxiety and can jump onto a counter-height kitchen table, but he hasn't tried jumping this, yet); is attractive and clean-looking; locks with a simple pull-mechanism; and the door allows you to leave gate up without getting in the way. The only drawbacks are that the bottom support bar running across the length essentially prevents you from raising the gate above floor level (in case you wanted it a few inches higher, for example), and the lock is simple enough for a toddler to figure out (although the pull-back lever to release the lock takes a firm grip, and you have to pull it back at the same time as you raise the release bar). Also, the way to fasten the gate onto the door is by screwing and unscrewing the 4 edge bolts. Once the gate's on, it's perfect, but getting the exact fit for your door is frustrating. Not hard, but frustrating :)

Easy to use

I got this gate to keep my dog in. He's starting to get big and if he jumps on it just right he can somehow manage to get it open but other then that its a good product. Its easy to assemble and you can open and close it with one hand, which is quite nice.

Great design

We bought this gate to keep our cat out of the living room and it works great. It is attractive, sturdy, well designed and was easy to install. Even though screws were furnished for mounting the end caps to the walls, it is secure enough that you do not have to use them, thereby eliminating any holes when you remove it. We are very very pleased with our purchase and the price was right. We give it a 5 star rating.

Not for kids!

My 21 month old had this figured out in literally 3 minutes. It was installed Monday evening and dismantled the next morning and I ordered another gate... I would not recommend this gate if you think you are going to keep your toddler confined by it...A dog is a different story...this would be a good pet gate...if your dog can figure it out, you should take him on David Letterman, but otherwise... I think it is misleading for stores to carry this as a childproof gate...should be under the pet gate category only...

Good product for less money

This is a secure, easy to use product for less money than many others. These gates are all a little diffferent, and many are hard to open, but this one is clearly marked. I put it at the bottom of my stairs and it worked well with different widths of the banister and wall with baseboard.

Great product, sturdy

This baby gate is very sturdy and easy to install without any damage to your door frame. It is a little taller than I expected, which is nice. It's also a lot more attractive than other bulky, hard-plastic baby gates. One word of caution: The lever to open the gate is sort of "one-handed operation," but only if you don't push the handle down all the way to engage the red safety latch. This latch has to be pushed to the side with one hand while you simultaneously lift up on the lever with the other hand in order to open the gate. If you push the lever down most of the way but not to the point where you hear the click when it engages the red latch, then you only need one hand to lift the lever. My 20 month old already knows how to open this gate, however, unless I engage the red latch, so it really isn't one-handed operation for me. If I have something in my arms, I have to put it down to open the gate.

Works great!

Easy to assemble, stays in place. Purchased this product to replace our expandable, plastic baby gate. We were tired of stepping over the previous gate and hitting our feet, or lifting our 40 lb. puppy over the gate. This swing open gate is a great solution to both problems! Only wish for two additional features: 1) A base plate for a smooth transition over the bottom rail to meet the floor. 2) Single-handed release to swing open gate. But, overall it's a great value and I will purchase a second one soon!

Gate was hard to install because of floor molding in our house. We almost returned it to the store but we figured out a way to get it installed on top of the molding. Once installed it has been a great gate to keep my triplets from getting in the kitchen. I would buy it again, as the Regalo gates have proven to be a great value and have solid construction.
