A passable gate

This gate (with the extension) fits a 40 inch opening. The opening I'm using this in is just a hair bigger than that so if an adult puts weight on it, the top will slide slowly. My 18 lb son grabs it and pulls back and forth with no movement. I have it pressure mounted. The gate comes with the extension to make it 40 inches. The opening device is much to complicated for my 9 1/2 month old son to figure out, but easy enough for my 6 year old niece to use without issue. It would have been nice if it went both ways, but I knew it only opened in one direction and bought it anyways. It opens in a way that it would be a feat to smash any little fingers that aren't placed directly into the opening device, which is far more important to me than opening both ways. The door stays open until you close it. Overall, the gate works well and I am satisfied with the purchase.

Great for Pet care

I purchased this product based on other pet owners and I am thrilled! It sets up easily and is tall enough to keep my 5 month old puppy in the kitchen area as she is not yet housebroken. I can open it and it beats having to step over or re-set other gates that I have tried!

Great item!

The gate is easy to manage and set up. You don't have to attach anything to the walls b/c the guards are secure enough to hold in place with the pressure of the rubber length adjusters. It's easy to get in/out. The only thing I would change about this gate is that the door would open flush with the rest of the gate instead of only halfway. Otherwise a fantastic item for the price!

Works for us

We use this in our entrance to the living room as well as in the other bigger kids bedroom doorway to keep the baby out. They came with the option to either screw them into the doorframe or pressure mount it. We have it pressure mounted since our landlord won’t let us screw anything in. It was definitely easy to install. And is working great. The only negative thing I have about it is that kids will be kids and it doesn’t tend to slide out of the door frame if the bigger kids aren’t careful when opening and closing the gate. But it does take a lot to get it to come out. My 4 year old is the main culprit and likes to wiggle the gate. All in all I’m really satisfied with this product and hope that one day we can actually screw them in.

Decent gate

I purchased this DESPITE several reviews telling me not to. I have a 35-36" in opening #the walls are not completely level and we have baseboards#. In general, assembly via tension was super easy. I had no issues with figuring out how to install it. Without the extension it comes with the gate would not stay in place because the tension was way too loose, so I installed the extension. With the extension it BARELY fit on the drywall #wouldn't install into the baseboards#. Now, I have it installed but because of the baseboards we have to step over the bottom bar which is approx. 3 inches off the ground. Not a major deal, but when hauling laundry it's just one more thing I have to think about. It's also a pain because it's at the top of the stairs. It seems fairly secure- My son is only crawling at this point so he will test it out sooner or later. If we need to use the hardware mounting we will, but wanted to test it before drilling; and it's a good thing because we're going to keep it where it is for now, but move it later. Then we will invest in a more expensive one that fits in the doorway better so we don't have to step over the bar anymore. But for now it works. I think for the price it's a good gate. I wouldn't buy this if you have baseboards and similar measurements 35" or 36". But, if it's a few inches larger or smaller this should work even with baseboards.

good

it is good for the price.even though not that good as other brands. the way to open is kind of fussy, sometimes, i just close it at the position without l;ocking it, cause my son is keeping on go in and out too trouble to lock it everytime.but it do does its work to block the way to kichen and keep the baby safe. if you donot want to spend much on a safety gate, this is a very good choice, highly recommended.

Love this gate!

I love this gate. I use it to separate the kitchen and the dining room. With that being said, I am the type of person that has to have all products match. So I bought this brand of gate in different sizes - Wide and extra wide also. I do not like those gates. Because of their size and extensions they can not be used pressure mounted and obtain the same sturdiness that you find with this gate. This gate - I did not use the extensions and it's perfect and super strong using only pressure mounts. *I just noted that for any other mom's out there that are going to buy a bunch of gates (same brand, different sizes).

Great design

We bought this gate to keep our cat out of the living room and it works great. It is attractive, sturdy, well designed and was easy to install. Even though screws were furnished for mounting the end caps to the walls, it is secure enough that you do not have to use them, thereby eliminating any holes when you remove it. We are very very pleased with our purchase and the price was right. We give it a 5 star rating.

Awesome, Very sturdy & easy to use

I bought this gate because the old one we had wasn't very sturdy and my 10 month old loved to try to climb it. It was super easy to put together & install, and is very sturdy. I have a 4.5 year old as well and a 2 year old nephew that I watch regularly. My 4.5 year old is able to open and close the gate easily, while it can contain the 2 year old. It was able to withstand the 2 year old and my 10 month old shaking and slamming into the gate, however I had to put the bracket cups on after my 4 year old threw a temper tantrum and knocked the gate part way off the wall. It takes a little bit to get the hang of opening the gate with one hand, but it is easy to do once you figure it out. , just beware of the lip across the bottom of the gate door, my family is full of klutz's and we have all tripped over it multiple times.

For dog owners

Gate is fairly easy to install, all parts included. Can be installed by one, but helpful to have second pair of hands. One hand operation easy if gate is NOT in locked position, doable in locked position with practice. Needs to be installed where there is no wall trim/floor board at bottom for best fit, otherwise it needs to be raised off floor above floor board which raises step thru bar. Not a problem if floor board is flat. I got for my 2 med/large dogs to keep them out of one area of the house, it works fine so far but they do not push against it, it would not hold a big dog if they really want in the area. Be sure you get the size closest to the opening for tighter fit. The bars are close enough for even smaller dogs.
